"Well, passing through town we had a lovely dinner experience at Mrs. tacos. It is not your traditional Mexican fair. It is unique combination of Guatemalan and Yucatan flavors. Everything was exceptional! We tried the traditional enchiladas, which were very good and two different burritos. All of the meats that they offer are delicious and have different flavors. I believe they offer nine different types of meat that you can choose from to put in your tacos or your burritos. We met the owner and she was very nice and proud of her establishment. You will enjoy the experience of eating at Mrs. taco."
"Decent Columbian breakfast spot in Minneapolis. Came in early and was seated in a minute. The service was attentive and nice. The ambience is very much like an old school diner bar and enjoyed the quiet morning. Ordered the Huevos Pericos and thought it was good. Might be a bit overcooked considering how dry the eggs were but not enough to say it was bad. Overall, rating well because the service and ambience was good."
"I love the taco Tuesday here! The tacos are all good, I get the steak one on Tuesdays. This is a very agreeable place, good food, hip scene, outdoor seating, bar and an interesting décor. Check it out."
"Let's talk about the good, the bad, and the uglyWho am I kidding, it was all goodStarted with avocado fries and chipotle cream Definately our new favorite appetizer An avocado, or two, quartered into wedges, breaded with a crunchy breading, then deepfried. Amazing Also ordered chips and quac. Chips are made on site, quartered white corn tortillas, then deep fried and salted. Great. Only exceeded by the guacamole, fresh and simple. All that avocado, tomatoes cilantro and salt can make it. Boom.Next came the tacos, carnitas and asada. Both were good, but we liked the carnitas more. However, the pork was more like tinga, not carnitas. Real carnitas are hunks of pork shoulder, cooked in fat until soft. Then for tacos it is usually chopped, then fried crisp. These were more like Mexican pulled pork Great, but not exactly carnitas. The asada was fairly typical, which is to say merely okThey were both served on doubled corn tortillas. They are white corn, not yellow corn. And I just dont find white corn tortillas that good. The salsa were very good, but spicy. We got salsa verde with the pork and chipotle with the asada. Both delicious, but spicy, if that is a concern of yours. Not for me, but tastes differ, so if mild is your gig, be sure to askI would go five stars, but the tortillas bring it down. You may think that is petty, but a taco place needs great tortillas to get five stars."
"Amazing Colombian and Ecuadorian food, very authentic! Our group ordered all kinds of dishes and we all loved it. The prices were great and they had an excellent selection. The service was friendly and attentive. We will all be back!!"
"Fairly unprepossessing from the outside, the interior is much more attractive and cozy. A long kitchen/bar is flanked by tables along a windowed wall. This somewhat narrow corridor opens to a spacious adjoining room with a mix of tables and booths. I've had dinner here twice and each time come away impressed with the food, ambience and service. The first time I came here with a friend. We started with refillable chips accompanied by two smoky salsas, green and red ($7). I had the Slow Roasted Pork with rice and beans ($18.5). It was a savory, satisfying and delicious plate. Friend had the fresh, well prepared Mahi Mahi with cilantro rice and mango salsa ($22).Second visit I was accompanied by two others. We started with the Chips and Salsa to which we added a largish bowl of very good Guacamole ($9.5). We then proceeded to split the Mussels ($12), Shrimp Chuzos ($10. - skewers) and a Chorizo Pizza ($15 ). We added three Tamarind sodas to the mix. I think all left fat and happy. Parking can be a bit of a hassle though street options abound. Moderately quiet so as to enable most conversation. Staff is knowledgeable and courteous. In my estimation, a great addition to Bryn Mawr serving Equadoran/Latin inspired cuisine. Perhaps one could even say it's a great addition to the ever evolving metropolitan food scene."
"The service is great, they are family friendly and they have the fun bendy straws. They even offered one to my SO. The food is really good. The lemonade got a thumbs up. The calamari is in a corn meal crust and that is always my favorite crust. The kids cheese burger gets two thumbs up. I had the scallops and my SO had the salmon, all really good. The ambiance is chill, jeans and a shirt. The crowd is a little older. Okay I had to come back to update on dessert! Tres leches cake is so good! Flan is also good but the cake!"
"I have no idea why I was so hesitant to check this place out. While the outside looks tiny, there's plenty of space inside! Parking is mostly street unless you're lucky and grab a spot in the small lot. We stopped in on a Saturday right before brunch ended. Our party of three waited about 7 minutes before we were seated. Honestly the clock was ticking away before brunch officially turned into lunch.I went with a pulled pork meal that came with scrambled eggs, fruit, and pancakes. The pulled pork was good enough to come back for. Everything else was great- it's amazing how something so simple could be so flavorful. My sister got basically a shrimp curry with rice, it's her go to dish every time she comes here. I would love to make this one of our regular places. The server was friendly and helpful when we had questions and the vibes make you feel like you're at small spot where everyone knows you. If you're like me and you've been putting this place off stop! Go check it out and definitely try the pulled pork!"
"This is a tough one. The food was really good-really good, however the prices blew my mind for the size of the portions.I got the ZANAHORIAS - Roasted brown butter garlic carrots, guajillo butter sauce, asparagus, mushrooms, micro arugula, tangerine oil, sherry glaze. This was my main dish and although it was delicious, it was like 4 carrots, 8 mushrooms, and 3 asparagus. I was still hungry when I finished and it was $18! So good and just ok"
"A friend and I went to Barroco Latin Cuisine for lunch on Saturday afternoon. We had fantastic service there from our server along with amazing food! I was super excited to come here as I hadn't found a Latin restaurant that had more Peruvian cuisine. We started off with the Yuquitas and complimentary chips and salsa. The salsas had really great flavor that I hadn't experienced at any other restaurant. The Yuquitas were accompanied by a creamy Huancaina sauce, which was phenomenal. For my entree I got the Carnitas platter, and it was fantastic. I love salsa criolla, and I was so happy when I saw it was served with this dish! Not pictured were the Margaritas we got and the Tres Leches Cake that I took home. The margaritas were pretty standard, but the Tres Leches Cake was fantastic! I could have eaten a whole sheet cake of it. If Latin cuisine is one of your favorites, I'd definitely say go check them out. It was good environment with great food!"

This place was a gem of a find! I was skeptical of the location but it delivered and then some. We took our Guatemalan exchange student and she confirmed this place was legit. We will be back!!

I've had this place on my list for awhile. Finally checked it out this a.m. Met my friend for lunch for our endless tour around the cities to find different places. Entrance is very odd. There are three doors basically to access the restaurant, but all closed- you have to walk through the buildings main entrance to finally get in. Restaurant is much bigger than it looks from the outside.Food ordered:Columbian breakfast- fried egg, pinto beans and rice, chorizo link and an arepa. The arepa was very dry. The beans and rice were good and th red sauce was amazing.Ordered some strawberry pancakes to go which were okay. Nothing to write home about. My friend said her breakfast was good. A little pricey for breakfast, but glad we tried it.

The tacos are amazing! I really enjoyed the shrimp one. The beef tacos were good it was dry and the chicken wasnt dry. The dessert was decent. The meat pie is good. Would recommend it again. I went during happy hours and it was a good price. But the food is amazing! Would recommend it. The service was good and the ambiance was nice.

Went out for a casual taco and drink night and decided on El Jefe in south Minneapolis (Lyndale/Diamond Lake Road). I was surprised how busy it was for a week day night but then again, the restaurant isn't the biggest, but don't let that fool you about the food and drinks. Here's my quick take ratings:* Overall 3.5 out of 5 stars* Food - 3.5 out of 5 stars* Drink - 4 out of 5 stars* Service - 4 out of 5 stars (a little under-staffed for how many people were there)* Quality/value - 3 out of 5 stars (there's definitely a premium on the price of tequila, but I can't fault a restaurant for trying to maximize their highest margin items)The best value is the Three Amigos, chips and salsa/queso for $7 and add guacamole for an extra $2. Orders of tacos come in triplets and I got the combo (pollo, carnitas, and barbacoa), which was pretty good, but it seemed a little steep at $14/15. Drinks ranged from $9-15+ and they have a full bar, which offers some variety. Overall, it was a good experience, but there are a lot of other taco/tequila restaurants in south Minneapolis. That said, I appreciate the local, mom & pop restaurants and want to support them when I can. There is also free parking in the lot behind the building but it was full, and there's free street parking nearby.

We ended up here because Chimborazo's parking was full, and we didn't want to wait 40 minutes for a table again. If Chimborazo is like visiting the sunny home of friends, Sabor Latino is where your friends might go when they are tired of cooking. I had a fish stew, and my husband had a chicken dish with plantain, rice, and salad. The stew was delicious, and the chicken dish was very tender. The food wasn't fancy, but filling and flavorful. We also ordered shakes. My husband had coconut and I had mango. They weren't the best we've ever had, but they were pretty good. The menu had a lot of unfamiliar items, and I'd love to try them sometime.I got a kick out of the fact that we were the only people there who didn't speak Spanish. I had a little difficulty understanding the server's English, but she understood mine. Admittedly, the service was perfunctory if not particularly warm, but it seemed to me that the customers weren't particularly polite to the server either (my rudimentary high school Spanish didn't afford more insight than this). This place is a bit of a dive, and feels like the Ecuadorian equivalent of a greasy spoon. The television sports program was in English, strangely, but they eventually switched to Univision. I would give this place 3.5 stars if possible. The food and the lack of a wait merits at least half a star over 3 stars.

It's a neighborhood gem! Delicious food with nice plating impressed me the most. We celebrated a friend's birthday there, so five of us tried a little bit of everything. Obviously this place is known for the Ecuadorian cuisine. Hornado, the classic Ecuadorian toasted pork is my favorite. Exactly what I expected for Latin flavor, well done! Love all the small plates. Ceviche and the Llapingachos are typical and I won't get tired of ordering them every time I come back. The chocolate panna cotta was a surprise. Never had chocolate flavor but this one was great! I love they use the garage doors as the restaurant front. Although most people sat outside, it was very nice to see the Latino decorations inside.

Great space, plenty of residential parking, and fantastic staff. My friends and I got there 5 minutes before the breakfast menu closed and the server was so wonderful and took our orders really quick. I got there llapingachos breakfast and it was DELICIOUS! The potato pancakes were so soft and so flavorful; all the spices combined together so well! And of course the pulled pork was super juicy and yummy. My partner got the Chimborazo breakfast hash with the ribs and it was equally delicious. The has had a good amount of veggies that was super juicy and the rest in the ribs melted off the bones. The pancake, all delicious. Overall, I would definitely comeback!

"A strip-mall outlet of pure delight. These crusty flavorful empanadas are so so good and at $3.75 each a great deal. I especially liked the chorizo and the ham and cheese. They've got quite a few varieties. We've been here twice now and got a few frozen ones which were easy to heat in a toaster over (20 min) without any noticeable difference in quality from the ones we ate at the restaurant. There are two sauces that accompany-a seasoned sour cream and a chimichurri made with olive oil and herbs-both are great. They are situated in a small strip mall with a weird one-way parking lot but that's the only negative about this gem. Definitely worth the drive."
"Best And Enjoyable experience in Dodge Center!! Good friendly service and great food! You might wait A little if busy well worth it. Enjoy !! Thank you for sharing your experience and kindness! Y'all Rock!!"
"Forest Lakes newest upscale Mexican restaurant that delivers fantastic food. Very busy at lunch not enough staff for all the people. Free parking behind restaurant. Two entrances one in front and back by the lake parking lot."
"This is such a cute cafe with amazing food! Counter service with self serve water. The staff was very friendly and speedy with my food. I highly recommend the pork. It was soo tender it just fell apart. The seasoning was subtle with just the right amount of saltiness. The rice and beans were bland but were a good carb to soak up the juiciness of the pork. The sweet plantains were perfect in every way. They had beautifully crunchy bottoms from being fried. The arepa con queso was good. There is a sweetness with the butter and maybe in the corn masa itself. Its very dense and rich, i would recommend splitting with a friend if possible."
"Amazing service, ambience and excellent cocktails, (genie in a bottle). Parking was scarce but it's Friday night and we managed to secure a nearby spot across the street. It was very cold outside but the temperature inside was surprisingly toasty. The restaurant was crowded but we were relieved to find plenty of open seats at the bar for us to order a drink while waiting for a table. The food was no match for the amazing cocktails, however both aspects of the experience were well above expectations. Our server was fantastic and provided the perfect balance of attentiveness and room to breathe. No complaints could be made about our experience."
"Customer Service: hospitable, kind, friendly, & genuine. The server told me how long the order would be and was very attentive. When I had questions, another server was kind enough to help me than having me wait. Food: I ordered their chicken enchiladas with green sauce which comes with beans and rice on the side; one order of soft shell chicken tacos with came with 3 per order - everything was flavorful! Their portions were just right! Their green sauce is absolute fire!!! I will order extra next time! Ambience: it was clean & well put, did not appear messy. There are 2 big screen TVs on opposite sides of the room with the sports channel on while I was there, a cute bar with several wine options and hard liquor. Overall: I really enjoyed it, from the service to the food! PS: There is also sidewalk seating!"
"First time. I had the rebuelta pupusa. Pollo guisado, chicken stew. Tender dark pieces with potato and carrot. It's the best rice I ever had at a Mexican/Latin restaurant and I gobbled it right up. At first I mixed it with the beans but discovered I loved in on its own. A good size medium horchata, watermelon drink, nice and sweet. I definitely want to try more items. The AC is just right. I'd like the music less blaring, but I appreciate that it's not Guantanamera for the millionth time."
"I loooooove thiiiiiis plaaaaace! I've walked by this Ecuadorian bakery several times and feel like such a dummy for not stopping in. Once I finally did, I was greeted by a baked goods wonderland and a real nice guy named Omar. What a treasure! The format: Grab a tray and load it up (using tongs and pastry papers). Omar was incredibly helpful by offering us lots of info and suggestions. Like us, you'll have a darned difficult time figuring out what to pick from what seems like hundreds of Ecuadorian treats, both sweet and savory. So I think we ended up with 14+ items? And it all cost just $12! They have cakes, sweet baked goods, savory baked goods, hot food to order, savory sauces made in-house, candies, coffee, cute seasonal gifts and more! Some of our faves from our haul, and forgive me for not remembering the names: this cookie that looks like a Home Simpson donut and coincidentally is amazing when dipped into hot coffee, bun filled with pineapple jam, decorated sugar cookies, a baked good filled with cheese topped with sugar, and the fried ribs that came with a side dish (under $5!). Bonus - the ingredients are all listed in English."
"I imagine I'll frequent this new little gem very often. Sabor Cuencano used to be located in south MPLS but opened in Northeast I think just last week. Their family-owned, small, colorful and festive space is welcomed to the neighborhood!Right now the menu is limited to some Ecuadorian staples and it's only in Spanish... which was excitingly authentic, even though I don't speak Spanish. We ordered the Fritada and Hornado. The Fritada was like small fried pork ribs that came with mote, a small salad, and cancha (kinda like corn nuts). I saw a lot of other people ordering this and I see why! Those crispy, savory ribs were delicious. The hornado (roast pork and crispy pork skin) came with mote, a small salad, sausage, and llapingachos. The that tender roasted pork with crispy skin was an incredible combo! Make sure to get plenty of their delicious hot sauce with whatever you order! There was a lot of bland mote with each dish, but we were told that we can order rice instead, or half and half. Nice!I can't wait to go back and try their other menu items, like ceviche and empanadas. Stay tuned for a review update!"
"Chimborazo serves one of my favorite dishes in town (llapingachos con chorizo). So I was delighted to learn they opened a St. Paul location. Over by the Trader Joe's, parking kind of sucks. But it's well worth the trip. Unlike the Northeast location, I was sad to learn that llapingachos are not on the daily menu here -- only on weekends. So I got my backup - insalata fresca, which was fresh and delicious as always with grilled shrimp. Also, unlike the Northeast location, you order and pay at the counter and then they bring the food out to you. But overall, a very good representation of the Northeast spot and a lovely expansion for one of my local faves."
"Amazing service, delicious food, and fantastic drinks! I shared the beef empanadas & ceviche with a couple girl friends, and enjoyed "Night Fever" cocktail! I highly recommend!!"
"I am SO happy there is a Latin restaurant a couple blocks down from my house! I had a taco during the state fair, but I wasn't aware they actually occupy the space they were standing in front of. We ordered take-out, they don't advertise take out anywhere so if you didn't know, now you do. Cute space, very minimalistic and clean. We got home, and the food is SO good! I usually only order steak, but I now love the pork tacos. Definitely a must try! They also do breakfast in the morning, which I think is a really good idea because there is nothing like that in the immediate area. They have two flat screens that play kids movies for the kids that are brought in. They even have chicken tenders and hamburgers and fries for the ones that don't like Latin food. Highly recommend."
"We love El Sazon and have been excited about Xelas opening here in Stillwater. We went for dinner on their second official night. The restaurant was full but service and pacing was spot on. I would not have guessed they just opened if I didn't know. Everyone was very gracious and seemed genuinely happy to host us. The food was outstanding and definitely something different for the area. We had an app, the cochinita (pork shank) and a couple of the small plates, as well as two desserts. Everything was fantastic. The guac was more filling than most with the chicharones providing some protein. Both desserts were great with the elote being especially unique. The cocktails and mocktails also were impressive. It's clear a lot of thought was put into them. Overall, we are happy to have Xelas in Stillwater and highly recommend."
"A solid 5 stars!Mito is definitely one of my top favorite restaurants of 2024. I won't bore everyone with a long description. There's already a mountain of reviews from writers that are far more talented than myself. All I have to say is this...The restaurant is astoundingly beautiful, my food was excellent, and the customer service was first class. Now that I'm aware that Mr. Soto is the mastermind behind this restaurant, I'm excited to checkout (and taste) his other 2 projects. Thanks for a great experience, Mito!-Maxx"
"Let me start by saying that our service was excellent! Ryan was kind, thoughtful and attentive while also providing great recommendations. We both started with drinks that were refreshing and great. The Brisket Mole is a MUST - it is one of the pricier options but so worth it and you get plenty of food for the next day. The meat is smoky and the mole has an incredible depth of flavor. It blew our socks off. The Carnitas tacos could have used a little more flavor, but I loved the corn and rice on the side. We also started with the crispy brussel sprouts which had a beautiful sweet and tangy sauce on top. It was loud inside when we arrived at 6:00 but quieted down by the time we left. Would definitely recommend for a happy hour or a delicious meal!"
"The food is so delicious! Basically everything we have ordered here is excellent, arrive is great cocktails are awesome!"
