"For roughly a year, I have been meaning to visit a Kowalski's market. Why? I had heard that it offers Betty and Earl's biscuits, which locals have raved about.I had my first Betty and Earl's chocolate chip cookie at Smack Shack. It was so yummy that I knew that I needed to try a biscuit next. After a book signing at The Lynhall, I needed a drink. I was headed to Starbucks, not knowing that it was located in this Kowalski's market until I had arrived. Excellent! After getting my drink at Starbucks, I checked out the market. It's a great gourmet grocery store. I was so happy browsing. The bakery section was incredible. You could get everything from artisan bread to donuts. I found Betty and Earl's goodies. I bought a bacon cheddar biscuit and a cinnamon roll.I need to get a half portion of a fruit pie. The peach pie had caught my eye. I hope that it's there where I'm back. Otherwise, I'd be happy with whatever fruit pie is there. There was so much chocolate-covered anything here. Popcorn. Nuts. Cookies. It all blew my mind. I must get the popcorn.I absolutely loved seeing individual meals. It's perfect for someone like me who tends to stay in hotel room with a kitchenette and craves comfort food. There were comforting meals, such as goulash, mac and cheese, and penne bolognese. They looked delicious. I could totally have all of them. The beverage selection was great. There were lots of sugar-free ones. I also saw sparking and CBD beverages. Wow!This store has a wine shop. I didn't check it out, but I will next time.I had the nicest man at the cashout area. Every staff member here is so nice and he was no exception. He carefully put my baked goods in a paper bag.I paid with a credit card. Done! I thanked him, grabbed my stuff, and left. Both Betty and Earl's items that I got were delicious. The cinnamon bun was more dense than you average bun, but it had the perfect amount of cinnamon with frosting on top that wasn't overly sweet. The savoury bacon cheddar biscuit was excellent. I had it for breakfast. It was filling and perfect. I could eat one any time of day.I am definitely returning for more baked goods. I want to try the individual meals next.(438)"
"Reunited and it feels so good----Kowalski's is my favorite grocery store to shop at---and since moving across the river I just did not get a chance to skip-a-doodle over to St. Paul that much---I was so happy to discover that there is one in Woodbury and close enough to do my shopping at----I gleefully entered the store and got one of my preferred little two tiered carts. I also enjoyed that there were not a ton of brats running around in big ass plastic car carts. Kids ruin my grocery store experience because they are always zigging when I want to zag. There was a vast array of samples and unfortunately for my wallet I ended up buying pretty much everything I sampled. Hahahahahaha that is a damn good marketing tactic. The old lady doing the Bacon demo needed to put a sock in it though---she never came up for air and was a bit pretentious. I did buy the bacon because even though she got on my nerves I enjoyed it. There is so much inside this fabulous store---flowers, gifts, cards, wine, Aveeda products, Cooks of crocus hill , fancy olive oils and seasonings, and cheeses---the wonderful cheeses----I specifically would shop here just for cheese.I got quality ingredients and seriously I don't feel like I did too bad on my budget. I indulged in some gourmet items that I cannot get at other grocers. Potter crackers, fresh Alaskan wild caught coho salmon, Waygu beef, velvet honey butter, northern lights Bleu cheese.I picked up a few recipe cards and enjoyed the friendly check out boys --one who took my groceries to my car for me. This place is the stuff my entertaining and food dreams are made of..."
"I am SO grateful for this local co-op. Here are a few of the oh so many reasons why...GROCERIES & ITEMS FOR SALE: It goes without saying that a local co-op has healthy, mindful, and local options. I really appreciate Eastside's bulk section which has a wide variety of items from not-so-bad-for-you gummy bears to nutritional yeast to trail mixes to all sorts of MN wild rice. Eastside also has hard-to-find fresh groceries like mung bean sprouts and local small batch tempeh.PREPARED FOOD Their deli offers healthy, flavorful, and reasonably priced grab-and-go options (aka grab-and-go-but-eat-in-the-car--like-a-piggy-because-you-just-can't-restrain-yourself options). Their hot bar serves up vegetarian and carnivore options, buffet-style by the pound. It's available for lunch and dinner on weekdays, and 8am-1pm on weekends. There's plenty of items in their cold case too from pizzas to sammies to all sorts of salads. You can also order made-to-order items like burritos and tacos!CAFE: Their attached cafe has great caffeinated drinks, and fresh delicious smoothies and cold pressed juices. Their drinks are named after neighborhoods in Northeast which is extra adorbs. Oh, plus free wifi.EVENTS: They host events for kiddos and adults alike. Their events support local vendors, are educational, and fun. Examples: free weekly yoga, coffee seminar/tastings, canning classes, "Critters of the Mississippi" for kids, zero waste education, healthy recipes classes, etc.I plan to become a member soon to support these local businesses and of course receive member perks!"
"It is a nicely located store with ample parking, hot food bar, salad bar, quality produce, hygiene products, freshly made desserts, organic productsMeats, gourmet items fresh but are very expensive and a specialty food store for many items and those who eat organic. I did not do five stars because they are pricey. Cannot imagine feeding your family weekly there. I enjoyed the aisles of body care products and natural remedies. Wry friendly staff"
"As you walk in you're greeted with a huge display of flower bouquets. You really don't have to go to nurseries with these around. The fruit and veggie aisles are on the right like most of the other stores. I was looking for cotton candy grapes but they weren't available. It's California grape season. I got some Fairlife filtered milk, which is great for the lactose intolerant. It's one of the few stores that carry that brand. I stopped for the pretzel hotdog buns. I couldn't resist the thin maple rolled oat cookies that they bake on site. They had Jonny Pops on sale but not the 2 chocolate ones which I thought strange and annoying. Still I picked up a coconut one. At the checkout someone runs right up to bag and carry it out. In this neighborhood it has a co-op feeling."
"Literal hole in the wall taco shop inside a grocery store (veracruzano #3). Order at the window to go or you can eat your meal at one of the tables. Food came out fast, and the tacos were delicious. The red salsa was good and their tripa and lengua tacos were flavorful. The salsa verde was more limey than other places I've had. Definitely will be back for more!"
"This is a great local neighborhood Mexican market. I come here to get the cooked pork, jalapeño salsa and rice from the deli. Simply the best pork and salsa. Great selection of fresh items at the best prices. The spices and sauces are always available. Besides the great food is the service. I have asked numerous times how to make a particular dish and they are willing to help me out. I try to make authentic food and not of Mexican decent but they are always so nice. They know me no...they come up to me when I look lost. Lol. Not sure if the are related to Andale on Nicollet but the selection and service her is so much better. BYW...we had a graduation party catered with some of their items!!! They are the best!!"
"Such a great market. We come here for fresh meats and fish. They don't have the large quantity groceries, but they have a good selection of premium groceries. The prime rib is the finest, the pre-marinated fish is delicious as are the marinated shrimp. They also have a quiche to go that makes a quick and delicious breakfast. Service is always fast and the store is well kept with close parking."
"Went here today!Love this store!Great options in the deli!Pasta bar, Burrito bowls, rotisserie chicken, fried chicken, hot foods bar!and more!Friendly and helpful workers!Yummy Bakery items!Excellent meat dept too!"
"I used to buy almost all my groceries at the Midtown Global Market, and The Produce Exchange made that possible. Quality... it's all about quality here. They focus on organic produce, with locally sourced fruits and veggies when they are available. They also have a selection of kitchen odds and ends and dry goods like pasta, sauces, grains and canned goods. I don't usually bother with that section, but there is a little shelf or a bin with discounted things sometimes. It's worth checking out. The Produce Exchange sells some of the best produce in the Twin Cities. They'll have Minnesota tomatoes and squash. Colorado peaches and plums. It changes all the time. Everything is very well-labeled with it's origin, which is great for those of us who prefer to buy as locally as we can. I felt really excited a couple of weeks ago when the clerk told me I was buying the first local apples of the season! Uh-mazing Wisconsin apples, BTW.Their prices are low for the quality, in my opinion. They aren't co-op prices, which can be a bit outrageous sometimes for fresh produce. I find the cost pretty comparable to Cub or Rainbow's organic section (or even their non-organic section!), but with really good sales. It's a wonderful place to shop if you're not picky too, because you can almost always get a good deal on something fresh and delicious. Next time you're eating in Midtown Global Market, don't breeze past this place without at least trying one of their samples (there's usually some awesome fruit on the platter). Surely, you'll end up taking home a bag full of goodies after one bite."

I've been going to this Co-op since my Hubs moved to NE. I love this co-op. I mean I have yet to meet a co-op I don't love, but I mean I really love this one. It feels just the right size. You get selection but not an overwhelming amount of selection. I don't know if people realize how important that is. I don't have the brain power to spend looking through 20 options, I need 3 tops and the co-op has gotten that list down to really good options. it's close to me, it's well run and the staff are helpful.

I bring my little kids here and unleash them. The staff here has no idea how to handle kids, which I find amusing for some reason.Vegetable selection is nice, but the quality is hit or miss. Fruit section is good.Pre-made food section is ok, they basically make ~6 dishes and rotate them.My go-to place for healthy selections.I gave them 3 stars because quality is really hit or miss with their vegetables.

I love this Kowalskis. What I like about this location is the store size, it's not so big that it takes forever to get around. Because of the size you can do all your shopping in a short amount of time. Their produce is always fresh, not like the wrinkly old stuff you see at Target. They also have a nice Salad and soup bar, or if you prefer there is a havea hot deli as well. Also up stairs is a lounge, but pretty much is a young kid hang out area though. One down side about shopping here is you'll pay a bit more, especially for any sort of specialty item. Oh well that's what you get for convenience. Update: So Kowalski's totally added an awesome cheese counter. All the cheeses are laid out very nicely. It makes it slightly nicer to pick out your fav cheese.

If this cold weather has got you down and you're running on empty, look no further than this great Mexican restaurant! I had the Pipian con pollo with rice and beans and it did not disappoint. I like a little heat with my authentic Mexican food and this had just the right amount leaving me feeling all warm in the middle, but not sweating. The chicken was falling off of the bone and tasted like it had been slow cooking all day long... the way home cooked food tastes out of the slow cooker. There were generous side portions of rice and beans that were delightfully flavorful and a great compliment to the main dish. It was also plated with lettuce and pico de gallo. I am so glad I didn't just fall into the "taco Tuesday" crowd. maybe I'll give the tacos a whirl on my next trip, because there will be a next trip!!

I came here on a whim to buy laudary soap, and ended up staying for dinner while my laundry washed in the laundry mat a few blocks away. This place is as local and authentic as it gets. While the cashier speaks English, most of the patrons do not. That's a great thing in my book if you're looking for good Mexican food that the locals enjoy.I got three tacos ($1 ea on Tuesdays!) to try several different meats. All were on small white corn tortillas. The chorizo was delicious! Lean, spicy, and seared crispy. The pollo (chicken) was tasty, but a little flat after the chorizo. The barbacoa (shredded beef) was very tasty, but very fatty. I also tried a papusa. It was good, but not as authentic as the papusa I had in El Salvador last week.Swallow your inner Gringo and come give this place a try. (I am a total gringo btw) They will even tolerate you trying to order in broken high school Spanish!

Not only is this a fantastic market, the prepared food is generally delicious. I stopped in to pick up some sushi (made fresh daily) and saw they had poke bowls, so I grabbed a spicy crunchy tuna bowl. The nice chunks of tuna and avocado sit atop a light layer of greens, a layer of sushi rice, and (to my surprise) a layer of crunchy fried onions. The whole dish mixed together was scrumptious. Behind me were hibachi yakasoba noodle bowls, so I grabbed a teriyaki chicken bowl and headed home for lunch. The hot hibachi dish was delicious. I hate it when I'm so hungry I forget to post pics, but here we are, lol.

"Great new location in Excelsior! Kowalski's is known for the quality and you won't be disappointed here. The store is bright, cheery, and laid out well. They have a great produce and meat selection! I love all the added fun merchandise with in the store! There is a Starbucks and a Wine shop attached! I mean really what else do you need! Only downside is the busy parking lot..."
"$1 tacos on Tuesdays but they only offer steak or chicken. Both were kind of underwhelming as far as tacos go. The beans were amazing though. I have a feeling they had a LOT of fat in them though because no bean on it's own tastes that good. Also, fried plantains! A bit expensive, but delicious!"
"Keep doing what you're doing Joe! Very good wings! Would definitely eat here again. #BLM"
"Not sure how it happened, but I have found myself doing more and more of my grocery shopping at Byerly's. I think it is partly due to their amazing bakery and awesome bread... But I also seem to enjoy the experience more. The store is smaller than your typical big box grocery stores. Today in particular was awesome... Granted it is Christmas Eve... I was amazed by the number of people they had working that were there to help people find what they needed for the last-minute items... And the drive up grocery pick up lane is awesome... Especially in the snow and when the parking lot might be a little slippery."
"I was not expecting to order anything when I went to Mr Santana. A cool drink was all I had in mind as I gazed over the selection of sodas with more exotic tastes than a row of Mountain Dew or other Pepsi and Coke products, but don't worry there are cokes. Selecting a Mango type punch the enticing aromas of lamb and beef were stirring a hunger I wasn't aware of five minutes earlier. I checked the board menu and among the many items a Lamb Gyros stood out, as I'll rarely pass up a chance to try a mouth watering Gyros. There was one person working which I assume was the owner so if busy there may be a wait. He can whip the orders out fast. There is outdoor seating with umbrella topped tables. Inside is narrow so state guided social distancing is almost impossible. I thought this business was a corner convenience store but it is now more of a deli which sells hookahs. The soft pita bread is easy to squeeze down to hold the ingredients. This does rank as one of the best Gyros I've had. Check the menu of Pita Wraps and burgers even pizzas, appetizers and desert, and who can pass on bringing some Curry Rice home to go with nearly anything. Gotta go back soon. Door Dash for those still hiding in the basement."
"For my money, Kowalski's is the top of the grocery-store pyramid in the twin cities having surged past Byrerly's after Lunds acquired them and homogenized them a bit. Most of their stores, including this one, are on the small size yet filled with lots of gourmet fruits, veggies, cheese, meats and other specialty items. They have the basics too, but they really shine in these other departments. Aisles are a bit narrow for my tastes but it's not really designed for the overflowing shopping carts one might encounter at Target or Cub. Definitely pricey, but worth the splurge, at least once in a while. Life is short."
"Cashwise used to be the low price leader in the area, but they are not so any longer. Owned by Coborns, Cash Wise is a budget grocery store located in Waite Park. They've recently renovated the store and added a new, larger natural foods area that is very nice. You can find most of what you're looking for at this store, and the employees are generally friendly and helpful. Countless times I've asked where certain items are located (since they're no longer where they used to be after the renovation). And countless times, friendly employees have directed me in the right direction.I like that I can find some hard-to-find items here, like my absolutely favorite barbecue sauce. There's a deli, a bakery, a butcher, a florist, and even a small cafe on-site that is popular with the older crowd. Located near the Crossroads Mall, this is a popular and central location for grocery shoppers. Aldi, which is located about a block and a half away generally has lower everyday prices, especially on milk and eggs."
"I never went in during the years I lived in Minneapolis because, well, it looks kind of scary. And it doesn't really get any better inside. But man o' man, the meat lovers sammy here fed me for three solid days. I was tempted to go weight it before eat; it must weight almost 3 pounds. Though relatively expensive to other sandwiches elsewhere, and taking a little longer (because they actually cook it to order), it's worth it. There's no meaner sammy in the Twin Cities."
"Good banh mi sandwich! Had the bbq one with extra meat. This is a Vietnamese grocery store so it has more items and food specifically for the Viet community vs other chinese grocery store."
"Amazing authentic food. Come hungry.I recently moved here from California and I grew up eating authentic flavorful Mexican food so I was spoiled and then moved here and was worried about finding authentic Mexican food. This place is my holy grail. Check out the restaurant and get thier pastor tacos or thier quessabirra with the consome broth. Separate from the restaurant is the market and they have great tamales as well as other meats and beans for the busy on the go Mexican food lover. 10/10 would recommend."
"My Filipino friend told me about this place. I cannot believe I drove 20 minutes to get here but it was worth it. It is a Filipino market packed with produce from Asia. There is a mini deli in the back store with a small open kitchen. I did not get a chance to look into the what they got back there but they looked delicious. I came here for their Pork Buns, I was told you cannot find this brand in other Asian stores and it is true because I checked out Sun Foods, a bigger Asian Market, in the cities and they do not stock them. These delicious buns are too die for. You can buy a bunch and freeze them for later. Also their salted duck eggs is a must. It comes in a container of six purple colored eggs. Well that is all I came here for, those two items, and I was a happy customer."
"The philly sandwich they have is amazing. Melts in your mouth. The store is very well kept too."
"Best place ever. Funions. Condemns, and cigarettes since HAPPY DAN says we're happy every one better be happy or else!!?? Duke"
"The market has a variety of items to look at from groceries, to gifts and clothes. It is suggested to place you food order for pick up before arriving. Otherwise you wait for about 20 minutes. While I waited I explored the shop and visited with the owner who is very loving and kind. I was happy when the owner came back to ask me my preference of the plantain. (Softer or a bit more firm) I truly enjoy a soft plantain so I'm glad I had an option.I also ordered (not pictured) cassava leaf which has a variety of meat and was delicious but a bit salty."
"Really good pupusas and carne asada! Service is friendly but can take a while depending on how full the place is."
