"Lost Spur is a fine course for a Spring warmup round, quick 9, without having to drive too far (just south of the airport). It is similar to many munis in playing conditions (smaller greens, decent fairways, hilly....the land wasn't "managed" to smooth our hills and ravines)...What makes it stand out is 1) the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming and 2) it is under the flight path from MSP so if you are a plane freak like me you can see them directly overhead. The course is a bit hilly....so if you tend to huff and puff up hills, get a cart. If you don't it is fine to walk except for 2 big uphills.Note: I'm not 100% sure if it is actually a muni, but the best way to describe the terrain and playing condition."
"Great low cost course! Only 9 holes so it's an easy round. Grounds taken care of well. Gets a little crowded at times"
"Great service, Meat raffle is fun & Dylan the manger is super awesome. Friendly staff & great location."
"Not a 4 star on its own, but defintiely a 4 star in value! After playing at quite a few city courses for a league, this might be the only one that I'd actually pay to play again.6pm and on for weeknights - we got in a quick (but HOT) 9 holes for $15 per person walking. What a deal! The greens were slow but in great shape, and it was a very nice course to walk.Had it not been 100 degrees and eager to get home, I would have loved to check out hte very nice looking clubhouse!"
"This is such a great place, I might be a little bias since it's right by my house. It's a great golf course. There is a small clubhouse but friendly staff and good pub food in the bar and grill. They have a nice outdoor patio to sit on as well after a long game of golf. Highly recommended!"
"Any day your kids don't have to go to school, this is a great place to check out. The holes are challenging and interesting, the art is great, and they have misters to try to cool you down. In between golf rounds, you could pet a baby goat, roast marshmallows on a sculpture that's on fire, or just wander around pointing and saying "look at that one! "It's a stellar family outing and will stay in my back pocket for future. Super recommended."
"I'm not sure that I would have reserved a tee time here if I had read the reviews beforehand, so hopefully this more recent review will better reflect the course and facilities. My wife, cousin and son-in-law went out on a sunny, breezy weekday afternoon. I was itching to play a new course, and the Edinburgh layout looked pretty interesting. We arrived a bit early and caught a filling lunch in the bar beforehand. The bartender was very pleasant and helpful, with a sage bit of advice to layup one -- if not twice -- on Edinburgh's iconic Par 4 17th. We rented carts as my knees are no longer up to walking 18. I was a bit put-out that the pitching area required ball rental, but we had limited time to warm-up regardless. The starter pleasantly and efficiently helped us get off, but I do not recall seeing a ranger while out on the course. The first hole is a short Par 5 to a slightly raised green, but into the stiff breeze it was a tough starting test. We got off a bit slowly, but after that we picked up the pace, keeping up to a threesome ahead of us while pressured a bit by two singles behind us.The greens were quite receptive given the hard stuff I'm used to playing, and speed was decent although not fast. Once I figured out the speed a bit I started racking up good scores, especially for a new course. The holes tighten up a bit on the Back 9, with trees narrowing the driving area and slowing things down a bit for some groups. We let the singles play through before catching up to the threesome again from 14 on, who were delayed by a foursome ahead of them. We were able to get around in 4:15 in any case, despite my fiasco on #17. The sun was setting, reflecting off the water into my eyes on my tee shot. I topped my drive *twice*, then put my approach (stroke 7) into the large stretch of water between the island landing area and green. The drop area is behind and well above the green, but a good chip and putt put a nice fat 10 on the card, which kind of ruined my round, but I'll play it better the next time!Despite the dated reviews, I would suggest you try the course out, especially if you can get a good rate and can go during the week."
"This is for all the people that have miss readings off the tee box. I think I resolved the tee shot distance inaccurate measurements. There is a setting in your profile to increase the power. The default for everyone is five out of ten. I moved my power up to seven and it's relatively close to what my two doppler radar shows. It's about 7 to 8 yards of carry off, but I can deal with that. I could move it up to an eight, but then my half shot wedges may go 140 yards. Uggg. I personally would rather have more distance accurate tee shots than wedge shots so this works for me."
"Excellent driving range. I have worked on my game here for many years. On a back road just across from North Oaks is the lovely Shadow Ridge Driving Range, with rolling terrain and views of farmland and marshland. Very peaceful. Lots of space. Tends to be very busy on summer weekends; I find the banter with other golfers (most of whom have far greater skills than I do) pleasant and instructive. Rates are reasonable."
"I am not a golfer and was there for a charity event. It was very nice and clean. I liked the gps on the cart I got to drive. Makes me want to take up gold. In fact I might start taking lessons there. They have a 3 pack of Private lessons for like $150."
"I really enjoyed playing at Crystal Lake. A great place for the weekend warriors! The course is in the middle of Lakeville but set up so you don't really feel like your're playing in the middle of town. At 5800 yards from the whites it plays right into the wheel house of most average golfers. A good drive will set you up with a short iron into the green. Most of the par 5's were reachable in two if hit in the right spot. Short par 3's with the longest being 147, The greens were in great shape, had great speed, and putted true. Would highly recommend checking out!"
"This is an outstanding golf course. If you live in the Twin Cities, it's worth making the drive out to Stillwater to play. Stoneridge offers great terrain and scenery; the rolling hills and tall grasses are beautiful. It's a challenging course while still being fair off the tee.The condition of the course is well-kept; it has the feel of a high-end course throughout. As with other elite courses throughout the Metro, the cost of playing here has gone up over the years. But it's a fair deal for what you are getting. Also, the clubhouse serves up great food! Our group of 8 guys all raved about the burgers and sandwiches."

We had our wedding venue at Lost Spur and it was such a great experience. The service was excellent & they were great at responding & following up. They helped make my big day be stress free! The golf course had a lot of pretty spots for photos & they will reserve you golf carts to get around in. (Including an 8 seater one for your bridal party!)You do not need to be a member to get married here.

Absolutely AWFUL customer service!!! The morning employee Tom is rude and confrontational. The owner will not honor the discount when you pre-pay online. It specifically says in bold that the course cannot charge you additionally for cart fees, booking fees, etc. but when you get there they demand an additional $34 for 1 cart! Take your business elsewhere! So many better courses nearby for far cheaper!

Good quality golf course in the middle of the city. Can't ask for much more than that (except maybe faster speed of play!!).I've played here several times and I've yet to find the day where I don't have to wait for people in front of me. The course is always packed and often you will be paired up with other people to accomodate everyone. No big deal I like to show off my swing (NOT).Thefore, I highly recommend that you take the time to walk the course as opposed to riding, as you will be waiting anyways (unless of course you have a cooler packed with adult beverages). The course is in good shape, no bald spots or flooded areas. Very fun to play and not quite as challenging, with mostly straight fairways and not too many hazards. I did not lose a single ball last time I played (compared to the 6-7 I lose on more challenging courses). So, get out there and play!

Nice to see Deer Run earning great reviews here on Yelp. As of 2023, Deer Run is a solid value at $59 for walking 18 holes.Contrast that with Bluff Creek in Chaska being ~ $46 and not being nearly the golf course that Deer Run is.I put Deer Run a notch or two below Chaska Town Course in course condition, design, and natural beauty, but Town Course currently charges $75 - $80 to walk 18. It can also be more challenging to get a tee time at Town Course vs. Bluff Creek. As public courses in the west metro go, let's call Deer Run a 7.5/10, Town Course a 9/10, Bluff Creek a 4/10.As others have said, Deer Run is a good course in a great area. While there are a lot of homes on the course, I don't feel like they ever detract from the experience. In fact, it's nice to look at some of the attractive homes and gardens while walking to your ball or between shots.Deer Run is kept in great condition for a public course. It is a good test of your golf game (especially if you spray the ball off the tee, like me), but you can score out there. The back tees are 6,326 yards, so that may not be enough for some long hitters. But I hear they may be creating a new set of tees with some more length.Of note: you will face a lot of OB on this course. My friend said they have OB on 15 of 18 holes. This notches up my anxiety a bit, as we play the OB rules by the book! But I don't think the OB is ever unfair or enormously difficult to avoid. If you can avoid the Big Miss, you will avoid OB.

This is a one of a kind experience and well worth it. The artwork is amazing and the golf course is great. The employees were very kind and helpful. Once you're done with your game there's sooo much to explore. I wish we would of brought more bug spray because the mosquitoes wereHorrible out by the art work feilds. Bring lots of water in summer as this is allOutdoors. Will visit and recommend every time we come to MN.

Edinburgh was built as a course to hold tournaments. It is in great shape. They've added a lot of new grassy areas that really add to the beauty of the course. There are a lot of super golf holes here. Not a blind shot on the course and a lot of risk and reward holes. There are some driveable par 4s. The greens are immaculate and fast with a lot of tiers. Some of the pin placements are extremely challenging for the average golfer. The downside to all this is the pace of play. You can expect to spend 5 hours here. Other than the pace, it's a great course.

Optimal performance golf is a fun spot for any caliber of golfer. They have league golf here, casual play, and lessons. There is a huge chipping and putting area where you can practice your short game. The simulator was fun and accurate - all things considered. It took us (2 people) about an hour to get through 9 holes. They have a full bar and menu. The pizza was top-notch. We had a great night getting back into the swing

"This Course only needs a Ground Crew and head Greens Keeper and a Good Head Pro to make this a Top 5 Course it plays nice but a bit on the easy side ,tee boxes need to be cut a bit shorter and greens need just a little bit of help for the money you cant go wrong!"
"I've played White Eagle many times, and every time I play I feel like the course is a little nicer than the time before. In fact, it's nearing a 5-star rating at this point, but just can't get past a few of the gimmicky holes that have 90-degree turns in the middle of the fairway, and then go straight uphill - dumb. I also have been inside the new clubhouse this year, which is a nice upgrade from what was there previously, but still not spectacular, which one would expect from a brand new clubhouse. Finally, while the trend is for golf courses to keep rates rising from year-to-year, I must say that White Eagle is starting to toe the line of being overpriced at $79. It's certainly not Stone Ridge or Troy Burne, but also not a muni course either, so $60 for prime times (think Saturdays, mid-summer, 10AM) feels about right. If rates start to climb much beyond that point, know that some great tracks are in the area, so options exist."
"Great band on Saturday night! Run Lucy Run- awesome drink specials and French fries too. Bartender was friendly and fast!"
"I had a fun time golfing at this course. The course is in great shape. The greens are fast, but roll perfectly and the parts that were closed last year look awesome. The staff is very friendly and they help you with what you need. The plus side about this course is that you don't have to worry about parking because they have a big parking lot."
"I like this golf course and I live very near. I asked the guy at the register if they were planning on using militaryteetimes.com again and that I didn't exactly remember the last time I used it. He said they don't use that unless it was years ago. He made it clear that they would not offer discounts to military and the rate with cart is $52.00. So today I just booked on militaryteetimes for The Summit Golf course because I could get on for $20.00. I went to view my reservation and also saw my last reservation for Legacy which was in August just over 9 months ago and my rate was $25.00. I guess the point is that I didn't enjoy feeling like a jerk because I asked about military rates. Just because I look for discounts doesn't make me a bad person and I've never felt that anyone should be obligated to offer me discounts. If I can get an extra round or two in because I'm watching my spending then great!"
"Spent a nice fall afternoon at Manitou Ridge. Friendly staff, nice Pro Shop, good bar area. Played a bit slow for the first nine due to a men's club event, but moved along nicely once they left the course. Reasonable pricing for a close-in course. Some very good lady golfers play here and I was fortunate enough to play along with four of them."
"The restaurant has great food and service! We went to brunch on a Saturday at 11am. The restaurant was pretty empty, only 4-5 tables. We had the cobb salad, the grilled chicken sandwich, french fries, and eggs benedict. All of it was delicious!"
"Tee-Away is yet another staple of Ladysmith and has been there as long as I've been alive. That being said, I have been to many events, weddings and golf outings here, and it's always been consistently excellent. The interior is beautifully done, with a separate bar area from the rest of the dining area, a casual store for the golfers, and an excellent 'event area' towards the back of the location.Their golf course is very well maintained. I golfed here for practice during my high school years, and was impressed with the quality then, and am still impressed with the quality now!I've never had any unkind encounters at this location, the staff are friendly and efficient, and if I ever feel like golfing 18 holes in my hometown, I would go here in a heart beat."
"Second season as a member and thrilled with the decision to join. It's a no thrills golfer's golf club. No tennis, pool or workout facility but a nice course that is generally in great shape. With plenty of nice golf amenities. I've also found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating. My family and I are also big fans of the restaurant. I think they have great food with a menu that changes regularly, great service for the most part and it's reasonably priced. The also have great options for kids. The restaurant is open to the public but be aware they automatically add in a tip on your bill. I primarily decided to do the review to hype the restaurant but course is nice if you get a chance to play."
"First time playing this course and it was worth the drive north. Great value, reasonable greens fees and the course is in great early summer condition. Weekend (Saturday) round was 5 hours but you have to expect that in this area for a public course. A challenging but fair test. We played the blue tees (6500+ yds) and it was a great test. Highlight is a 223 yrd par 3. (17) - into the wind almost a driver. Will be back!"
"Fox Hollow is a great golf course that doesn't receive nearly the acclaim it deserves. I have lived in Minnesota (southwest suburbs) most of my life, yet I had never heard of the course until we played it recently as part of a 3-day metro tournament. There are some visually stunning holes, with the Crow River running in the background on a number of holes. The course is challenging without being punishing. It's generally forgiving off the tee, yet there is plenty of water, trees, and OB to keep you honest. From a value perspective, it's excellent. Yes, it's a bit further outside the Metro area, but the weekday walking rate for 18 is currently $40. Their twilight (after 4 pm) is currently at $25.Considering how superior this course is to most of the public courses in the Metro, it should be near the top of your list to check out."
"One of my favorite courses. I grew up playing here dozens of times in the 80's and 90's. Was back a couple years ago and the course was in beautiful condition, better than it was back in the dayHUGE MASSIVE trees and tons of them providing plenty of shade and challenge, some elevation changes, reasonable amount of water hazards, par 3's that hug ponds, tons of doglegs, some long par 5's. Can't wait to get back and play here again when I'm in town"
"This is a nice municipal style course out on the edge of Hastings. It took me 45 minutes to get to it from Minneapolis. I liked that the course was well maintained, and that it was uncrowded (although I was there early on a weekday in September). It can be walked - the distance between the holes is deceiving because it seems like it should be short but the front/back 9 are patchworked together. It is what it is but the course wasn't super interesting, until the 14th hole (gold course) where there was finally some elevation change and nicer views."
"This place is fantastic! The golf simulator is so top notch and involved it makes the experience very realistic and actually a great way to up your own golf game. Great food/drink selections and the staff and owner are also super friendly and a good time. Definitely recommend coming here with a group!"
"Treated well today despite reservation problem and found this to be a great course. My brother and I showed up without reservations (we thought we had, but no matter); the manager and starter were both very accommodating to us and matched us with a great guy golfing alone. A challenging course that is in part beyond my skill level but a great experience nonetheless. Many sand and water challenges. The Southern end of the course borders with a farm, which adds to the ambience. We played 9 holes for $21.00, which was an outstanding deal."
"I have played the Wilds a number of times and really enjoy the track. The course has always been very well maintained, has good practice facilities and a fun layout. That said, this can be a course that will frustrate you on your first round, as it does have a number of blind and misleading shots. The location isn't great for me, but it does make for a good excuse to stop by the casino afterwards and donate some money to the blackjack gods. They also have simulators during the winter - they're not the best, but it's a fine option if you happen to live nearby and are jonesiing to hit some balls. All in all, it's certainly a course I'll continue to play over the years."
"For casual golfers such as myself, this is a very challenging 9-hole regulation course. Extremely well maintained. Be prepared to study the greens - small mistakes can take you many yards away from the pin. My one criticism is that there are several pairs of parallel holes, which leads to golfers crossing into each others play. Very affordable - generally $15 on summer weekends."
"I really enjoyed golfing here this past weekend. We had a group of four fairly inexperienced golfers, and this was the perfect course for us. The fairways are straight, there isn't really any water or sand traps, and it's a low-key course. We didn't have to worry about going a little slower. I will definitely come back to golf. It was easy to set up a tee time and an all-around fun time golfing with the family (plus I got my first birdie!). The only drawback, lots of geese so watch out for land mines..."
"This is a really great 18 hole golf course! The course itself is in great shape: wonderful fairways, well-kept greens (which are super challenging), and immaculately manicured "rough" all contribute to a great experience. Even the water hazards and sand traps are kept up nicely. The course is challenging, but also not too long and hazards not too numerous. In addition to the upkeep, Highland Park is a really scenic course: there are quite a few holes with "signature" qualities, like the water towers and "Snoopy" sand trip. Pace of play was really quick the day we were out there, we finishes in less than 3.5 hours. We rented clubs, and were pleasantly surprised with the quality. Overall, fees are quite reasonable, especially during the week. All in all, a great course to play in the Twin Cities!"
"This is a great place to eat with the family. Recently the cook changed and this new one uses different ranch. When he starts making his own or finds a more palatable brand I'll update. The wraps used to be amazing but now the gloopy sweet soybean oil bottled ranch makes me sad. Always great service. Fun little golf hole inside the dining room and a few games for kids to play. Pullies both machine and box. Full bar, several TVs. My husband likes the course-I don't golf so not much help there. I will update if the ranch situation gets sorted out."
"First time to this club and very happy with the experience. One thing before I continue. I stopped in as a single and asked if I could get out - alone or with whoever. An hour later, when I was about to ask for a refund, the fellow in the Pro Shop came to and remembered that I was waiting - after an hour of sparse play. Finally did hook up with a couple guys and had a wonderful time. Course has some damaged areas, but over all was in fine shape. Nice maintenance, good pace of play, reasonable price. Could have used a beverage cart on the course as it was about 85* and had a fair amount of players, but....35 minute drive south of St Paul on 52 is within range for a good round, on a quiet course outside the city. Will definitely return, but with a group and a confirmed tee time."
"One of the nicest public courses I have ever seen. And, yes, it did kind of kick my butt. The majesty and beauty of the course was surprising to me, as an out-of-towner."
"Great convenient spot for a public golf course and the grounds are well taken care of. I really like coming to the driving range here because there a ton of space and people aren't up tight about new golfers getting in the way. This is also the perfect place for new golfers to play on the par 3 course. Lots of families and kids learning to play so it's a safe environment for beginners."
