"This is a newly opened "Treasure Chest" that is a non-profit thrift store that supports their local community. It has a large setup, lots of friendly staff members, and half off everything sale on everything while we were there! You need a bit of time to make your way through the store, but definitely worth the time and look through. We came as a big group of various ages going on (two carloads of people actually). We had a ton of fun and laughed a lot as well while we found crazy things from styles long gone by! But no worries, you'll easily find some great almost new items that you can use now as well! We scored these super cute like new pair of snoopy new balance running shoes for our little guy! I have never seen a pair like them and LOVE them!!! Who doesn't like Peanuts characters?! Overall, great place to shop and though they can be a little high on some of their pricing, the half off everything made it a great deal!"
"I've worked at Hammer Residences for about 10 years. It's an excellent organization with a great mission. Wonderful employee culture and lots of opportunities. Provides innovative services for individuals who have disabilities."
"Amazing place! Highly recommend!! Best support gear around. Amazing designs and great people. Best club in the world to support!"
"Yesterday I got to volunteer with a 5th grade field trip to BIZTOWN - a 'simulated' town. I can't speak highly enough of this Junior Achievement program. I was blown away by the 'real world' application that they provide for our students. Before the field trip our fifth grade students got to: - choose a job and interview for that job with parent volunteers - They got to learn about budgeting - earning, saving and spending. - They got to learn how to write a check and use a debit card - and more...Once at Biztown, they went to 'work.' The town had many different companies. Each company had several student employees and each student had a list of responsibilities. The company took out a business 'loan' that they tried to repay by the end of the day. They earned a paycheck and got to put it in both a savings and checking account. They could spend their money on items around Biztown. The staff was fantastic - so helpful and friendly. The building was so clean and organized. I can't believe how much time and resources went into planning such a useful program. I'm so grateful and loved volunteering."
"Love this little three story center for book arts. A nice quiet space to slowly take in the aesthetics of books, weaving and work on paper."
"If you end up sick don't expect them to see you through. What they used to do has so changed. I was told by financial manager that IOCP no longer has time to listen, to hear as before. I was told my records showed information not true. I asked to see it & was denied. I even offered to bring in my job acceptance letter, my complex management documentation & even bank statements & was refused. It compounded my situation. Such confusion. With George Floyd so many heard him, but no one applied empathy to their response that had the power. You can hear a cry out for help, but in your bias, perception it becomes just a noise. If you don't have time to listen you then cancel out what the heart can do. I came walking in with MST from the Army & triggered by a recent CID Army investigation. I had my dream job with the VA-EHRM project & then got Covid-19 early being in bed for months, only to find I transitioned into Post Covid-19 Syndrome. I went from running across US Airports to now it was excruciating to walk. Then I needed an eye lens implant and what before Covid-19 was so easy, now turned into complications. Then for almost 4 months I became near sighted blind. Not able to see anything close to me, nothing. No phones or computers, my job. I began to have bowel & urinary issues on top of all this. I never felt more alone & lost. In all this, I lost everything. Life had become "whack a mole". I had a precious Case Manager, but leadership changed. I was even slated for their employment services to help me work again & that worker was great also. Then told he left & program changes. I no longer would get the help as described, as promised. It was so sad with the culture changes at IOCP. In trying to make sense of the changes, the loss of services it was almost impossible in crises mode. Between the Army triggers, being hit with Covid-19 complications & MST PTS/ PTSD functioning was difficult in a time I needed someone to champion me. I couldn't find anyone. I asked questions, attempting to understand & find anyone to hear me and instead I made people angry & found those short of patience. In the Countries attempt to handle a huge influx of people in crises & budgets I had the door closed in my face. Now having lost my car insurance of 35 years & being in a city classified as car dependent, making it work has been critically challenging. Yet the Financial Services Manager told me I don't need a car with a sharp tone. I can do this, but the Mission Statement of IOCP has lost the exceptional hands on that it used to have from LaDonna. All people need is to be heard with empathy. People know when that happens. IOCP works at a high level only with so many falling through the cracks. People don't always like everyone but to share & spread biases & perceptions being cruel isn't right especially in Social Services it isn't right. It isn't right to shut doors when someone genuinely questions what is happening. Actually it is a red flag when especially a Social Service Agency can't be transparent. I worked 20 years in a Pediatric ER and patients were always asking to see records. A job or title doesn't give anyone the right to dismiss actually hearing someone. When you are in the fight of your life, how someone treats you, talks to you does matter. It can be a life or call."
"The middle stop on our whirlwind tour of Apple Valley. The Legion offers cheap taps (we again chose Fat Tire), honest pours and--at least on the night of our visit--both kinds of music (country and western). Classic family ambiance (patrons passing someones new baby back and forth across the bar), major men in mullets and blowzy drunken cougars happily coexist for your people watching amusement. Did I mention the cheap Fat Tire on tap? I really liked this place a lot, and I suspect you will too. (Bonus: Good-n-Plentys in the gumball machine by the front door.)"
"I got a "compliment" from a no face/no name/no reviews profile that is clearly affiliated with the facility, indicating that they knew who I was, failed to address my concerns, and defending just one small part of my review and telling me what it sounded like was wrong with me. :::sigh::: I guess that's the American way now...refuse to own up to your actions and blame your target. So very dysfunctionally Minnesotan, and kinda creepy. I'm sitting here wondering now: If they know who I am, what sort of vengeful thing are they going to do to me? Still a 2 star in my book."
"This place was made for busy people. It is so peaceful and beautiful at any time of the year. I think most of us yearn for quiet a little cabin in the woods every now and then... Pacem allows you to finally do that. Pacem is the perfect place to retreat from the hustle and bustle and hear God's voice again. The wildlife and nature make God feel closer than he normally does. The staff are very kind and the food at dinner (optional) is amazing and the facilities are very clean and well kept. I love this place. Highly recommend you visit."
"Attended the Ukrainian Heritage Festival here today with friends. It was a super hot day...in the upper 90's. There were booths outside but it was empty since it was too hot! Everyone was inside! The entertainment in the Auditorium was superb. Food was good. A fun time."
"This is a great place to bring the family on a cold day! The diving board is nice because they're multiple levels for the kids. Very inexpensive! Indoor water park area is average, but the hot tub is nice for the adults! The waterslide is cool too."
"What a great service for the East Side Community. My friends and I got together to do a fundraiser event for the hurricane victims and local charities/programs in Minnesota. We collected a lot of items from friends and donated them to 3 locations. We picked this service because of program they provided for all ages: child care, youth program, adult day program and other great services. I spoke to a staff named Laura, she was very helpful and nice to me. She explained to me what items they were looking for and when I arrived she was very warmed and welcoming. She had a male staff helped me carry water and some clothes from my car. I would recommend this place for friends or family looking for programs to assist them in realizing the quality of life."

What a dumpy thrift store! This is the thrift store that gets crappy donations. I searched high and low and found 2 things to buy. A vintage cracked mn twin mug for 59 cents and a black North Face fall coat for $8 something. I washed it as soon as I got home. They have sales and all but mostly garage sale cast offs and junk. You've been warned.

I've had a Disability CADI Waiver with Hammer for about nine years and the company has fallen from grace. Hammer used to have a good reputation but my experience is that the present staff including Maddy Fleischman (who truly doesn't know what she's doing except wasting time) cause extreme symptoms of my PTSD to manifest from incompetence triggering excessive anxiety. SO if you want a good Service Provider for your disability waiver who knows what they are doing, do not choose Hammer or you will regret it.

4/5 check it out!so i had to ask someone exactly what this place was, and i'm not confident that i'd be able to recount it here. but my understanding is that it's basically a center that celebrates writing and book-making in particular, and that it's the largest of it's kind of space in the country. cool. so much paper and thoughts and art and print on paper, if you're into that kinda thing and have a bit of time to downtown i think you'd really like wandering in. i personally spent a while rifling through their screen prints in one area, and then a bit of time in one of the book areas. i wish i took a picture, but there was this cool nook with all kinds of letter press things in all kinds of shapes, fonts, and sizes - lovely! i was there on a weekend so i didn't get to see as much of the writing center parts in action, but i think that may be open to you at other times.anyways, if you like books, the art of book-making, and look up bookstores via yelp, i think you'd fancy this place.

Two friends wanted to meet here Friday night. Upon walking in there is an older man sitting there. I notice a guest book so I sign in. Holy Senior Citizen hangout. It is Happy Hour. Nothing sounded good on tap so I ordered a margarita. It seemed weak as I tasted no tequila. My friend and I shared loaded tots which were cheesy bacon tots and were good. Looking for 2 Gingers, no but they have Jamison. This drink was also weak. No Shocktop or Blue Moon. I had a Grain Belt Nordeast bottle. Entree I ordered was Jumbo shrimp. A good value as it came with a salad and baked potato and frozen broccoli, cauliflower and carrot medley they could have forgot about. The Shrimp were plentiful and had good cocktail sauce. Service was spotty as she was either new or busy. A patron at our table didn't like the all you can eat fish fry. Waitress took my friend's sons French fries away before he was finished. Our empty plates sat on table for a little while. Food portions good and inexpensive. Maybe stick with beer at this place. Around 8 the seniors left and a younger crowd came in. Patriotic as it is the American Legion.

"Exclusionary. Their "charitable" programs are marketed to the "St. Croix area" but in actuality maybe just Stillwater/Bayport. I mistakingly attended a one time class there as part of the Wellness 50+ onus but was told that they only want to help people in their "community" only. Really. Maybe ISD 824.On their website the question is asked who is included in their good works-their answer is "depends on the service." Call em and see. I find it hilarious that one of their business partners is Cottage Grove Lions Club...since Cottage Grove isn't in ISD 824 or elitist Stillwater/Bayport."
"If you have the patience to dig through bins and bins and bins of stuff, and you love a great deal, this place is for you!!!! You pay by the weight which makes it such an awesome deal! People get crazy intense with gloves and are sure to fight you for that cute top or jacket. They are constantly rotating out the bins and refilling them throughout the day. You could seriously go when they open as stay until they close. I found some Nike capris in awesome shape and a cute gymshark sweater. Just keep digging and eventually you will find buried treasure. If you aren't planning on going hog wild and buying the entire store, bring a bag. It is way easier to maneuver in the crowds with a bag than a shopping cart. Be warned, if you leave your cart unattended, someone may acquire something in it. It's definitely a great way to spend a day off. If you have never been, you have to try it at least once. Also, this location is way better than the downtown location. They have better stuff and the people are friendlier!"
"Cool unique sculptures all over the property ! Nice postcards inside the gift shop and bottled water for those hot days."
"The folks supporting the steak fry are friendly and really do a great job. A nice dance floor, friendly crowd, and a nice big popcorn machine. Oh, the Bar is busy and a nice chattery roar. Very nice evening."
"I really enjoyed my visit to Norway House, which seems to be the Norwegian Center in Minneapolis. I have never been to any other Norwegian Center in the US so maybe this is the main one. I highly, highly recommend the Kaffebar, which is easy to find as soon as you get in. I really enjoyed their Nordic waffles. I chose the one with smoked salmon. They were so good! These waffles are not like Belgian waffles. They're very thin and have a pretty shape like a flower. I also had a type of potato bread with cardamom sugar and sprinkles. Maybe they're called lefse? I could have spent more time here but they were having a meeting and I was politely asked to rush out. There's a library and you can find many books in their language. When I was there, they were having an exhibit by a local photographer. The exhibit was excellent, about roles women were expected to play on the 50s. I went before the pandemic. I think they have limited hours now."

"A great organization based in Minneapolis with global locations where staff and volunteers serve refugee populations in practical ways, like funding community development, clean water and food, local entrepreneurial efforts, and many other projects. They have fundraising events in the United States. Last year's Changemakers Ball at the Armory in downtown Minneapolis was a huge, high-production event including dinner, bar service, desserts, music, and presentations with lots of energy and informative speeches and multimedia showing the organization's work around the world. Support this org."
"Food - very good and affordable Drink - free birthday drinkGift card - available via credit card with phone call. Noise level - elevated"
"I began my new life at JCS Affective Sober Living, both through finding recovery and learning how to "adult," while surrounded by a supportive environment of women who were doing the same thing. This sober house is known to have past residents return, if they ever need a sober "reset," and most past residents and alumni say there are no other sober homes like it. The owner takes immaculate care of the facility and loves to interior decorate and make the places as comfortable and cozy as possible. The sober homes partner with IOP programs (outpatient), most of whom subsidize the rent. NuWay treatment center will pay for a residents's entire cost of rent while they are active in the program. There are both shared and single rooms, depending on availability and occupancy. I give JCS 5 stars, and if there were more to give, I would!!"
"I'm very happy with the quality of the plants purchased here. I was also pleased with the prices. We just bought a tree for only $35, and anywhere in the cities we would have paid $100. The staff are VERY knowledgeable! Many times when you go to a garden center, the workers don't know enough about the plants to really answer questions. But everyone here seems either very plant smart, or really good at BSing. Either way, I'm satisfied! And finally, their selection is HUGE! If they don't have what you're looking for, they can order it too. A lovely 1 stop shop for all gardening needs!"
"Great place to pickup items at a great discount. Place is clean and well cared for. Items are organized very logically, so if you have a particular need or interest, you can focus in that area. Lots of home maintenance and home improvement supplies. Bulk nails and fasteners sold by the pound. Stop in and see for yourself."
"thankyou house of charity for being such assholes! thankyou for not serving the food that's good for people, not for profit. talk about wanting to save money, they call a 1 inch piece of burnt stale garlic toast as substitute for a fresh 8 inch meat filled burrito, yeah that was the replacement for the burrito, a one inch stale burnt piece of garlic toast! that's how those people are, white, self absorbed, selfish, bigots. their out is that people who are served are supposed to be grateful. sorry but the diabetics among your "class of people" are not grateful for your food choices which are high carb cheap excuses to save the money for your participating churches. lets serve garbage instead and call it food. high salt, high carb, high sugar. thats how they roll. the meat they DONT SERVE. their constant refusal to serve is getting them big pockets that they dont have to report. the organizations that donate their time to serve are even more arrogant than that. they refuse to serve too, because they have to serve the garbage first, (one inch piece of goddamn stale burnt garlic toast that was inedible and donated because IT WAS INEDIBLE !) oh the poor wont care, they will eat anything if they are hungry enough. this attitude needs to die, not the people you serve. scew you, and your poor excuse for a food organization!"
"Great amount of items and well priced! This is a very large location and plenty of different items to choose from. I highly recommend trying this place if you enjoy shopping at goodwill"
"Today was the first time I visited the Textile Center...my reason for visiting was because Yelp is co-sponsoring a clothing swap here with MN Fashion Org in April during Spring Fashion Week. Ahh, a great discovery. .I wish I had known about this place last Christmas...This place is a true gem. It houses a weavers guild, a shop, a quilting guild, a library devoted to fiber arts, and a museum. I'm sure there are a few other things they have here that I didn't have the time to stumble upon either. I wish I were craftier...really I do. I walked around here today imaging myself immersed in a project or class, working dilligently on some fabulous project. Alas, I'm no longer delusional about my craft and fiber skills and know that unless I can afford to purchase such art, I'll never own it as my skill set and patience just don't allow for it.Come here to browse, be inspired or to purchase a great piece of art. If you have an appreciation for all things fiber, you'll love it here.I now know where I'm going next Christmas for gifts -- I may even sign up loved ones for some classes that I know they would appreciate."
"Our team at work planned a volunteer event at Second Harvest, I had heard from before that it kind of sucks dragging around potatoes and carrots, but this time was actually not too bad. It was actually a brain puzzle with every box for me.NBC KARE 11 had garnered a heck of a lot of food from donations from the previous week and it was our job to pack 30 pound boxes of food for food shelves.18 pounds of canned goods and 12 pounds of dry goods. After watching an orientation video, we were led to the back and washed our hands. Then off to packing. Half of the group sorted through all of the donated goods (For all the bad people in the world, it seems like there are a bunch of good people) They checked labels and expiration dates and threw them into two bins, dry and canned. My job was to make all this food fit into a banana box. Not an easy task. The first few boxes were tough to make fit, but I quickly came up with a way to play Tetris with all these food items. It became a game for me to fit all these items in each box, and I tried to fit as many items as possible in each box. 30 pounds each.I started sweating pretty quick, but it was rewarding work and after three hours I think I packed at least 40 boxes worth. I tried to treat every box like it was my own, and I would like to receive it. I tried to mix up all the different items so that there was a nice variety for the recipients. It was well run and the time went by pretty fast."
"What's a nice girl like me doing in an American Legion? It's the best place to be in North St. Paul so I ask - why wouldn't I be? Pull up a bar stool and chat it up with Cookie and the boys, you'll have an amazing time and they make the best Bloody Mary I've ever had. Pull some tabs, enter the meat raffle, and most of all "Don't be a poop, use the scoop" at the popcorn machine okay? A dear pal of mine was stolen away from me to the midwest by her handsome midwest based man. I forgive him because he buys the drinks and mows his lawn perfectly. I did however, need to visit her asap and so I landed here one night of my travels - perched on a bar stool and roaring at old men's dirty jokes. I was escorted in by regulars. And I don't recommend showing up without one to introduce you around. It's a locals locals LOCALS bar, and while everyone is 100% genuine and friendly, you'd probably feel like an outsider if you just wondered in without pre-approval. Some of the nicest gentlemen and ladies call this place their home away from home. Shout outs to Dan (aka Jimmy) and Brian, plus Andy's Uncle with the shiny ring ;) I'll be back boys! Can't wait to cheers with you all again. Cheap drinks. Private lot, locals only."
"Great local hang out that supports many wonderful charities. Great people, great food, and fun atmosphere. They have a fantastic fish fry on Friday nights (seasonal). Thursday nights is a steak fry, they have a great strip or filet. There are many other options, but I always seem to get the steak. Sunday they have a great brunch, many times they will have football specials. The Elks host many events such as the Raspberry Festival. They have a food tent, music, drinks, and bingo! Oktoberfest is another fun event. You can also rent a party room and bartenders for a your own event. The best part is they pour a mean drink!"
"http://www.worldreliefmn.org/Had to do some personal homework after spotting the logo on shirts and asking a few questions.I was very visibly moved when I saw a group of Somali refugees come into MSP late in the evening last week, just about the same time as I arrived. A cadre from World Relief was on hand to assist. We were all congregated by baggage claim #9, and immediately, I thought of the Lost Boys of Sudan documentary, and the many, many books that I have read on various countries' histories in Africa.I tried to move to the side and just observe the advice and support being given to these new visitors to this country, and watched their reaction, attempting to read their faces. I even helped one fellow brother locate his suitcase on the belt. Were it not for people like Pastor Trotter who bother to care and enable those without to begin to start a life with, the world would be a much poorer place, in more sense than one. Taking action and participating in aiding and giving hope to the most vulnerable has always been one of my loves (as well as other social justice and human rights abuse issues). World Relief empowers those who are forgotten to feel remembered and cared for. This was my very first experience upon touching down in MN, and already, I was a huge fan of this wonderful spot in MidAmerica."
"I can usually find some gems but dealing with the crowd and pushy people can be rough - however it's worth it if you find stuff you can resell and make a decent profit on. I once found a 100% long cashmere coat"
"This is the food. Fresh made wonderful specials. Went to Amazing Octoberfest dinner. With beer paring. So good. So much food. Such reasonable prices. Great breakfast on Sundays. Homemade caramel rolls. Lots to chose from. We went for homemade meatloaf last week. Why cook at home when they have a great chef and friendly staff in a clean fun environment!!!"
"Man I got to admit I had a great time at this American Legion. I got to play a show here this past weekend as a part of the Big Turn Music Festival. Little did I know I would be spending lots of extra time here, cause the ladies behind the bar were fun and so welcoming! Let's just say I was the last one to leave on Friday night! Think your sweet Grandma but your sweet Grandma who probably does shots of Fireball with her friends on weekends! Then on Saturday one of them even humored me by making some shots for my friends and I that the bar I used to work at invented called a, Communion! So great! This place is really nice.. It's older but it's got a cool vibe.. And the bathrooms have recently been updated and are very modern! The back room where the show was, was perfect for a little night of rock n roll! I'd like to raise a glass to the ladies behind the bar for being so welcoming and making this my fave spot of the weekend!"
"My company has given me the opportunity to volunteer here a couple of times. The first time we sponsored them with a dresser build where we bought several dresser kits and built them onsite for people that are looking for a dresser. This time it was helping by grabbing the requested items for orders and get them on the truck for delivery while others rolled up donated blankets and other bedding for people in need. There was also a lot of show piled up on some semi trailers that was caving in the roof of the trailer. We helped pull the wet snow down to keep more damage from happening. I felt that we had a very productive day. I got over 10,000 steps running around there trying to help out as much as we could. Fran the founder, was there, even though he is now in his nineties, what a nice man. I am glad to have met him. I took many photos of things around the office and handouts that explain how others can help either with a group or solo. Please look into helping these guys out if you can. Your heart will be full because of it."
"It's about what you would expect. The Beer is cheap and their is fresh popcorn available for free in the corner.I was there twice during my visit to the area. There was mostly the same people there both times. They are friendly and some are ready to talk about their experiences.they have pull-tab lottery games and a few TVs. it is a great place to stop in after work for a few beers....but probably not somewhere you would stay too long."
