"tommy's new in the hood and while he's not stocking parts and such in quantity yet he's starting to put together a line of bikes to sell. if you're in a rush for a part, he's probably not the place to go to for a little while yet. but if you can wait a day or so, he'll order up the parts and have them to you post haste. he has QPB and given that they're local, you're going to get your parts pretty damn quick. the neighborhood's been in desperate need of a good bike shop for a while now and tommy appears to be taking a grass roots approach to building up the business. he's really friendly and there's always someone from the neighborhood in the shop. i've been very happy with all of the purchases to date and they did a great job with the spring tune up for my wife's bike this year."
"Friendly, knowledgeable service and sales here of electric bikes. We were in the market for an ebike and called our nearby bike shop (that does NOT service/sale electric bikes). They recommended Stauss Skate & Bike, instantly and without reservation. We had to check them out, and I'm glad we did. They were wonderful about explaining the e-bikes they have and let us test ride a great bike. It wasn't the bike we were looking for, but I did feel like they were really concerned about finding the right e-bike for us."
"Awesome bike shop. I recently needed a major overall on my Fatbike and brought it into the shop in Eagan. The bike was done a day early and looked and performed better than new! These guys are friendly and the experience was great."
"If I could give zero stars I would. I called the Hopkins store for kid bikes and they said Bloomington has more. I called Bloomington and they said you need to come in and we would measure him. Went on and on about ensuring size, can't do over the phone. No big deal, sounds detailed, all good. Have to arrive an hour before closing to test ride. Sounds great. We arrived and the guy who I spoke to on the phone took one look at my son and said we don't have anything his size. Then I looked around the store, they didn't have any nearly close to his size. Seriously. He then offered to order one online and said, it's $900 bucks. First of all, I can order things online, I was hoping to test out a few bikes. Second, please don't look down on my like I can't afford a bike. Third, I'm happy to spend my money elsewhere. Heck I've been upset plenty of times, I've faced racists as well. But to do it in front of a kid and also let him down. You can do better jonny rock bikes"
"We have purchased numerous bicycles and have had them serviced here. Great people and a great shop! Can't say enough positive for them."
"We had a great experience buying a bike here. Very friendly and helpful staff. We love our new bike."
"Brought my 2014 Trek Domane 4.3 to Mark for an overhaul a few weeks ago - I needed a new rear wheel and a derailleur hanger replaced, among some other things. More than just a quick tune-up, let's put it that way! Mark was super about communicating, letting me know what he'd found, and making recommendations for parts that were in line with what my expectations were - both in terms of performance and cost.I had my bike back about a week after I dropped it off. I've put about 100 miles on it since getting it back four days ago and I can honestly say that in the four years I've owned it, this bike has never felt better or rode more nicely than it does now.And (at least for me!), he's just across the street to boot. If you're downtown (or even if you're not) and you value great work at a fair price in your bike shop, give Smallest Cog a look. I think you'll be super happy with the results. I know I am!"
"Plenty of bicycles already assembled, pick your fave (with the help of the friendly staff) and off you go! Reasonable prices and they service what they sell."
"garbagethey keep lying to me where is my bike?????they've had it for months now.stay away from this place"

Strauss made up for the inaccurate info someone at their store provided me with over the phone. Before making the drive out there recently, I called first to ask about the availability of women's figure skates (for recreational use) that would fit a typical 8.5-9 shoe size and I was told they had plenty from which to choose. Once I got there that same afternoon, though, I found they really did not have much to choose from (a young man assisted me). When I mentioned that one of their employees told me over the phone earlier something to the contrary, an older man over-heard. A few minutes later, he returned from their backroom with a pair of skates a slight bit bigger than what I required and said it's a now-discontinued model, but it was "better" than the replacement model because it was all leather, and he offered me a considerable discount on it for any inconvenience - if I felt the fit was good. So I tried on the skates and walked around a bit, and noticed some movement in the heel area. They offered to do a heat treatment in their heat box which helps mold the skate more to a foot. I accepted their offer, took off the skates and waited several minutes while the skates heated up. The young man returned to help me quickly put on the skates and lace them up and then sit 5 minutes while they cooled down, leaving me with the impression that he would return when the 5 minutes were up so that I could walk around again to see how the skates felt. I probably waited more like 10 minutes and the young man did not return; however, the older man came by to tell me I could walk around now. The skates felt better after the heat treatment. Since I was offered a deal I found hard to refuse, and because of the apparent good quality of the skates, I decided to purchase them. Next thing, the young man brought the skates to the back of their store for sharpening. I waited for what seemed to be an inordinate amount of time and after a while, even asked about the status of the sharpening. A few minutes later, the skates were brought to me. I found there was a burr on one of the blades and I voiced my concern. I walked to the back of the store with the young man and asked for the burr to be smoothed. After a tentative attempt by the young man behind the counter, the job ended up receiving the attention of the seemingly more practiced man to remove the burr and he did so quickly and confidently.

What great service, we have been looking for a new bike for weeks, they let us test drive each bike and gave us great advice what to look for. We went in empty handed and rode out on a new bike with a GREAT PRICE! My next bikes will be from them also.

Super nice bike guy in newly established shop. I just happened by it and knowing I needed a tune up and actually because I wanted it fairly quickly (look at this weather!) I brought my bike in. Turns out my hunch was right. Got the bike back quickly with great explanations as to what was done, and what was needed. Priced fairly. Friendly. Knows what he is doing. (Sweet, shy, shop-dog a plus!) Check it out.

Bike shop packed with all the bikes you could ever need. Kip was friendly and very knowledgeable on options and costs. Informed me on options for an adaptive bike for special needs. Amazing gem for all your bike repairs and purchases!

"Thank you St. Paul Freewheel Bike for co-sponsoring the local fun ride around St. Paul."
"Gret place to have your bike fixed up. They sell lots of new stuff and some used. The support lots of local causes. They sell new bikes or can do just about anything to fix your old one. Very nice business"
"I love to get my biking equipment and accessories from Penn Cycle. I bought my current women's specific road bike at a Penn Cycle. I love it and still ride it 3 years later. This particular location is closer to work, so I often stop here. I also took a free class for women years ago, specifically on women's specific bikes and parts. This was very helpful and I found the perfect saddle. They had this thing you sat on to see where your bones would rest on the seat. Then they were able to mold a perfect seat, fit for the individual. (this was a few years ago, and might have only been a feature of the company showing women's products). The staff is very helpful and always seem to be working hard fixing a bike or two in the back. If you just looking at getting into biking, stop in here and ask the staff for some guidance. They will likely have some suggestions to assist you in getting started at reasonable prices. They do not have a large selection of jerseys or clothes here. I have never had any success finding a clothes here, but I did buy my shoes, locks, helmet and tools."
"I had the chance to stop by Bicycle Bill's today for a tube. In the past I remember trying to visit the shop only to find it closed. They keep very limited winter hours.I came in at about 1pm and was taken aback as I entered the shop. Their main floor showroom was dark and uninviting. I walked toward the light and found myself in the cellar. It appeared as if I were alone. I said "Knock, Knock" and was greeted by a shop guy appearing as if from nowhere. He was helpful and promptly located the inner tube I needed. I paid what I thought was a fair price but declined to pay for the install. He and I discussed the strange wheel. (from a garden cart) He then offered to see if he could just swap the tubes real quick. If took over 15 minutes to make the swap. But the help was greatly appreciated. As I started to offer cash for the help he ushered me to the door.I don't know about bike sales but the service department was great."
"We are NOT triathlon athletes or serious road bikers, but we were looking for an electric bicycle. Stopped here, figuring they wouldn't have much of a selection but I was dead wrong. They not only had a group of different ebikes-but in a price range we were looking for ($2K). Our helpful staff, Jeremi, helped us locate one that FIT in size and price range. The store was BUSY when we went in and Jeremi helped set us up with a bike test ride in between assisting other customers. We also purchased a bike carrier for the ebike at the same time. We are very pleased with our bike purchase and the help we got from Jeremi!"
"Just bought a bike from Freewheel and had a great experience. The staff were so helpful and happy to help me. They were very kind to answer all my questions and make sure the bike I wanted was the best bike for me. I had a great time here and would definitely reccomend this shop to others as a place to come for anything bike related!"
"Did you know this is a non-profit? Amongst all the good stuff that you'll find at this shop, I was most surprised by that. Crystal is really kind and extremely knowledgeable. I brought my mom's bike in and within a few days she got the tires in shape and fixed the brakes. She also added a water bottle fixture on the fly. I can't wait to go back and see about investing in a longer distance bike. The good: affordable custom bikes The better: personalized service The best: MERV! He is such a cutie, well behaved and absolutely the sweetest! Bikes with dogs? Need I say more!"
"Super cool spot that supports live music. The vibe is super chill, dare I say older crowd there to listen to cat playing guitar and singing a quality list of tunes ."
"I discovered this place as it's one of the few places in the Twin Cities that actually washes hockey gear. It was a huge clean store that obviously focuses more on bicycles, but they had awesome customer service. I received my hockey gear back within one week, and it smelled great. Really happy to have found a place that cleans hockey gear."
"I stopped in with a little bike knowledge and the person I worked with was very helpful and me understanding about how much I need to spend for a decent bike and sizes they would recommend. The store is a little more expensive, but I'm sure it's worth it for the bikes they are offering."
"Was so pleased with the fast, efficient and reasonable service that we received. In from out of town for a race and they really went above and beyond to help us out."
"What a sweet bike shop. Professional and kind staff. Lots of eclectic stuff...just what I love."
