Annie D. "This was my first time at Wakame and I must note that I am not a sushi fan, however, I knew they had other stuff on the menu. We came late at night for their happy hour and it was pretty busy but we were sat quickly. I got the shrimp tempura and shockling, garlic mashed potatoes, while my friend got a mix of sushi. My food was good, pretty standard, and the mashed potatoes were a lot better than I thought they would be for an asian restaurant. I would definitely come back, good food at good prices."

Molly R. "I ordered the Bangkok burrito and the squash/mushroom tacos through a delivery app. I said no cilantro on both and sauce on the side of the burrito. The tacos were fantastic! The burrito was full of cilantro and there was no sauce included. After it was deconstructed to remove the cilantro, it was delicious, but that was a lot of work to be able to enjoy it.I would give this order 5 stars just for the deliciousness of the food (after cilantro was removed), but the special instructions not being followed really bummed me out. I have to order delivery because I'm disabled and don't have a car. I only get it like once a month due to budget constraints so it does really matter when my food isn't quite what I ordered."

Very affordable and absolutely delicious!! Fair warning-this place brings on the heat so be sure to ask them for little to no heat if you are not familiar with Thai peppers. There was one gal holding it down, from seating folks, taking orders, managing the takeout, bills, serving, bussing and more. To no surprise, things moved slowly. Thankfully the music was good; the 90s and early 2000 R & B jams took me back and made the wait bearable.-Good wings, with a very light seasoning but still flavorful. -Good cream cheese wontons, but didn't don't like plum sauce. - dish 45 was okay, but a bit bland."

Wasn't super busy which was nice and we were able to get our food very fast. Here at The Cove, they have poke bowls, rice bowls, and bun mi. Me and my boyfriend both got rice bowls and were very impressed. I got my bowl with the chicken and meatballs and my boyfriend got the pork belly and meatballs. Everything was full of flavor and very tender. My personal favorite was the chicken; it was breaded and tasted absolutely amazing. The sides that come in the bowl are also great. The Chinese broccoli and mushrooms were our personal favorites! The restaurant itself is very nice and simple. You go up to the counter to order and they give you a number for your table. They also have outdoor seating for when it is nice outside! Overall this place is delicious and unique from many other restaurants around. I will definitely be coming back again."

Lana T. "OVERALL: a true & authentic hole in the wall restaurant. A hidden gem on the U of M campus. FOOD: We ordered the chicken congee, honey bbq pork, beef chow fun, crispy custard dessert, Hong Kong style milk tea, and Hong Kong style lemon tea. The HK style teas were the best teas I've had in the city. They were absolutely delicious! Each of the dishes themselves were large portions and so flavorful. For the congee, maybe ordering soy sauce or even ginger scallion oil on the side would've leveled it up, BUT even for just the congee itself it was delicious and you can tell they use broth instead of water to boil it down. I also appreciate with the chow fun that they limit the amount of onions and add a lot of bean sprouts. The BBQ pork with honey really adds a unique flavor that is not typical of other BBQ pork I've ordered at other places. SERVICE: The service was fast and kind. Waters always full, truly 5/5. PRICE: I'll have to come back for their weekday lunch special where dishes range from $9-12, but each of our dishes today were $13-$19. I learned as well that the owners are from HK and want to share the authentic flavors in MN. They also are the only restaurant that make the crispy cream custard dessert that is SO delicious. They make it to order as well so it's always fresh and hot. They also make their duck daily as well and I have to come back for that! *They also have a parking lot, which is HUGE bonus for being on campus!!"

Alexis L. "Starving after a long day flying I decided to Kiku takeout and/or delivery.I was excited to see how much thought they behind the packaging. First of all it's always a blessing when either your Uber eats or the restaurant puts in utensils. If you looking for chopstick you will have to request from the restaurant or driver. The to go order had a small piece of cardboard box right above the Pad Thai. It's small steps like this keep the food hot as if you're getting it right off the pan! The order consisted of Miso Soup, Edamame, and Pad Thai. The Vegetables in the Pad Thai, tasted like water. I'm assuming it's probably because they have their vegetables soaking in water for storage and refrigeration (common for restaurants to do).It was 56 minutes prior to close so I'm assuming the kitchen probably was in a hurry to close out. More than likely just grabbed out the veggies and threw them in the pan not allowing the excess water to be removed. Even sautéeing the veggies in first to really soak up in the sauce may have helped. The edamame was slightly under cooked which makes it tough to get the soybeans out. Maybe this is a restaurant is best experienced as a sit down spot and I recommend favoring their Japanese offerings not Thai."

Stephanie O. "I've been going here for years now (since around the time they opened) and I absolutely love it! Sri Lankan food is AMAZING, Amd this place does not disappoint! I can't say enough good things about the food here. My go to meal here is the string hoppers, the string hoppers are like a thin patty made of thin white rice noodles (it comes with like 12). I love that this meal comes with a curry sauce, Kiri Hodi (a sweet thinner sauce) and Coconut Sambol. I layer on as much of each that I want on my string hoppers and the combo is DELICIOUS! My daughter has tried a few different dishes here and loves them all. She's done the Ala Hodi (potato curry), the chicken curry and the Dhal Curry. She normally gets roti on the side as well. We normally get a side of vegetable rolls to start with. Then if we are looking for a little extra we get a Mango Lassi to start or finish the meal with. It is like a sweet mango smoothie, but yogurt based and thinner texture."

Patti K. "My friend and I come here regularly because it's convenient and has a nice lunch menu that seems to have something for any mood. We usually order the spring rolls, a filling meat salad in a rice wrapper. I also like to get a lunch menu item that has a samosa on the side. The samosa filling is hearty with just enough Indian spice kick, fried suitably enough in a wonton wrapper. The lunch menu has a reliable selection of popular Asian dishes. I've enjoyed the Chinese chicken dishes (sesame, General Tso's, etc.) with flavorful sauces that don't drown out the fresh vegetables. Last time I went I ordered General Tso's "spicy," which would probably be about "medium" in Little Mekong--just right for me. I was a little disappointed that the noodle dish on the lunch menu seemed to lack moisture and flavor, but mostly I've been happy with the food. Sometime I'd like to go back for dinner, as those dishes seem more adventurous. The teas complement the dishes nicely, especially when I order something fried. I usually have the zingy ginger tea, a favorite for both my friend and me. Recently I found Nina's hot lemonade surprisingly refreshing on a hot day. The service is friendly and attentive. The space is airy and fresh. I come in hungry, and leave full and satisfied. There is not much more we can ask of a regular lunch place, and we'll keep coming back!"

They're easy enough to find and is located on the U of M campus (where it is easy enough to find other pho shops as well). My standard for pho is to always try the pho dac biet. So that was what I ordered. And honestly, I wasn't super satisfied. The flavor depth fell short. There wasn't much to the broth at all. At one point, it may have been a good broth, but it seems like maybe water just kept being added. I also remembered that it didn't come out really hot...but more just warm. I'm not sure I'd go back as there are so many other choices, but if you're in a pinch and you're in the area and looking for an inexpensive bowl of hot noodle soup, they're not a terrible option."

The sauce with the spring rolls was excellent, and the spring rolls tasted fresh with lots of lettuce. The pad Thai and fried rice had great flavors and big portions! Everything was seasoned so nicely. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. It's winter so the sun went down fast but they have a great big wall of windows overlooking a small lake and walking path. I imagine it's beautiful in the summer. But you, my friend, would seriously be missing out. If my grandma were Chinese (and still alive) I can imagine her whipping up a meal like you get here. The food is simply made with Love. Fresh, high quality ingredients cooked to perfection by someone that obviously takes great pride in their product. Just like grandma....but with more spices.I couldn't decide what I wanted so I ordered pinneaple lemon chicken and hot and spicy chicken, both at spice level 8 along with some fried rice. I almost ordered some wontons but I didn't want to look like a pig ;-)The hot and spicy chicken is not like Vietnamese hot and spicy chicken....this version has a lighter sauce and they use real pieces of chicken, not the mystery pieces like you see at many places. Big juicy slices of chicken paired with fresh vegetables. The lemon chicken also contains real white meat chicken, battered and lightly deep fried with pineapples (of course) and a terrific lemon sauce that is not overly sweet like many are. This is probably not normally a spicy dish but I think that the added heat put this over the top.And the fried rice? Also terrific.Next time I will probably bump the the the spice level to 10 but I will say that at 8, both dishes definatly had some kick. You never know with these places...too many cater to the wimpy Scandinavian palate when setting heat levels.Great little place. So glad I stopped."

Estimated time to be ready as shown in Yelp was about 30-35 minutes. If you're looking to grab something and can't wait or have less than an hour for lunch, I suggest ordering ahead of time. Otherwise it looks like they also have a good selection of hot deli items and cold snacks to grab and go.I actually arrived a bit early to pick up but food came out before the estimated time I was given in the app. Don't forget to grab your utensils! It's not in the bag when ordered. I had to go back in for that.Plenty of parking space in the lot!Although wait time was much longer than normal, you won't be disappointed by the food! I was most amazed by the Paradise Wings. Seems to be coated with Panko crumbs and cooked perfectly - not at all soggy. 3 hours later and the wings were still crunchy as when it was fresh! Wings were packed and meaty, just how I like it. Comes with sweet chili sauce.Pad See Ew was also delicious. I've had my fair share of Pad See Ew but the noodles for this one holds perfectly well. I had never been to the actual restaurant though so when I needed to schedule a lunch mtg in the area, I suggested we go here! AMBIANCE It isn't trendy or sleek, but I'm totally okay with that compared to other reviewers. It's definitely hole-in-the-wall but was bigger inside than I thought. That helped since I didn't have to worry about getting a table. I also loved that about a dozen Asian OGs came in mid-meal and they strolled-in like regulars. The servers were really sweet too. THE FOODMy table ordered the Stir-fried Chinese Broccoli (#15), Siem Reap Sour Soup (#8), & Prohok Ktees (#36). Yummmm and good mix of items to eat family-style. I liked the soup's broth. I did expect the #36 pork to be spicier but it was at least flavorful. I would of liked more cabbage & less broccoli with this dish but that's more of a preference. We had enough leftovers for 2 boxes to take home! It seriously felt like I was going to an aunty's house for food & leaving with more meals for later (like I do with all my relatives).
