Alexandra L. "I love this place! I was looking for a hand-made ceramic mug for my mom's birthday and found this place. There is hand sanitizer when you come in and everyone was wearing masks, but they are open for shopping and browsing the gallery. The shop has a variety of items, including quite a few unique ceramic pieces by different artists, both functional (mugs, bowls, plates, pitchers, etc.) and more decorative items (vases, tiles, etc.). There is a small gallery space on one side with local artist's work displayed, and a large selection of unique cards, artist-inspired puzzles, children's books, etc. I ended up getting several gifts for friends (several mugs by different artists - about $40/each) and loved that they also had some local jams and tea. There are also painted works on the walls and while the prices were high, the quality is excellent and I'd love to come back and make a purchase of a piece at some point."

John O. "It's great to stop inGood amount of rotationUsually, new stuffI stop in once every couple months and it seems completely new and different every time that I stop in. I'm not a huge fan of old, classical art. I like the new, fresh and exciting stuff. They have it here time and time again. Most of the stuff I feel like I could see on the side of a building. Just the way I like it. That is usually where the best art is these days. Two best things about this place in my mind. It always changes. Hopkins is kind of an up and coming arts center in the Twin Cities. They are talking about getting rid of my parking lot and building an additional arts center. I can find street parking; I'm OK with that. Secondly, they get some really great musical artists to perform here on a regular basis. Got to to see John Paul White of the Civil Wars here. Amazing show if you like depressing music!"

Be forewarned, many of the original pieces, or at least the ones that turned my head were north of 2,500.Great place to browse and see how unique and creative all the Minneapolis art scene is Please come and support these folks"

Rohan D. "Incomparable little art boutique featuring a select few local artists in different media. The personable owner is a singularly effective promoter of her town and well worth spending a few extra moments for conversation. Every now and then the Purple Turtle Artisan Collective takes its proverbial show on the road for a pop-up store incarnation which is how I first encountered it, and her. So, how I first encountered them, the store and Amanda Scholz, the owner. I'm not sure if I'm clarifying, so I'll move on. If you're within an hour or two drive, or if you have the time to take a little diversion between the Twin Cities and Milwaukee, very well worth your time. However you won't be able to get the unique Sarasvati water color on canvas because I picked up the last one."

The store is a little randomly located, imo, but then again, I'm not a North Loop/Twinsville-to-be area expert, yet. But, we were happy we stumbled upon it. The owner was extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The selection represents a wide variety of countries. Some of my favorite pieces ended up being Korean chests.Come prepared to dig, though, as there is a ton of stuff...seriously. But I fell in love with many antiques...it was like there were many needles in the haystack."

The class was super laid-back, fun, and each of us were able to pick up our creations in ~ a week. Jason's space is bright & open, and Jason personally is an awesome dude (and amazing artist)- and wait til you meet his dog :). I can go on & on, but book a class with some friends, de-stress if need be, have some fun."

I brought my two-year-old with me to browse (bad idea) and he was patient and sweet. He even entertained my son with a wooden duck and made him laugh. The piece took a couple weeks, as I advised there was no rush. Doug upgraded my glass to museum quality to thank me for waiting. I will attach a picture, although my I phone camera doesn't do it justice. YES I recommend this business!"

Kate L. "Not sure if I am qualified to write a review on an art gallery, but I'll try anyways. You see, this was my very first "art gallery experience" so I have no comparisons. Except for the "art show" that my friend's children set up in a corner of their room....so, yeah.AZ Gallery was holding an event - A Midwinter's Dream - that featured local women artists and their various crafts. Everything was represented there from homemade candles and perfume to photography, shadowboxes, and jewelry. To be honest, much of the reason we went was to support a couple of friends at the show. Wandering around the space was easy and fun - I had a great time talking to each artist, some were members of the gallery, others were guests of the gallery. And the members of the gallery were super nice too. The gallery did a great job of laying out the space so that it didn't feel too crowded either.I can't tell you much more about the gallery, hours, trivia, or anything else really useful. But, if you see another event of theirs pop up, be sure to check it out! They do know how to host a nice party and they have some great artists."

So when we are in the area we swing by and pick up any other groceries that we might need for the rest of the week. Our favorite items are the bulk bin dry goods, local farm eggs, and local artisan bread. The prices are a little higher then the big box grocers, but because you are buying high quality food from local suppliers you get a free dose of karma with every purchase."

Saira K. "I really enjoyed my visit to Norway House, which seems to be the Norwegian Center in Minneapolis. I have never been to any other Norwegian Center in the US so maybe this is the main one. I highly, highly recommend the Kaffebar, which is easy to find as soon as you get in. I really enjoyed their Nordic waffles. I chose the one with smoked salmon. They were so good! These waffles are not like Belgian waffles. They're very thin and have a pretty shape like a flower. I also had a type of potato bread with cardamom sugar and sprinkles. Maybe they're called lefse? I could have spent more time here but they were having a meeting and I was politely asked to rush out. There's a library and you can find many books in their language. When I was there, they were having an exhibit by a local photographer. The exhibit was excellent, about roles women were expected to play on the 50s. I went before the pandemic. I think they have limited hours now."

A lot of options were provided, attention to detail was very apparent, and they also took the time to explain their rationale behind decisions (such as museum glass and different frames that accent photos). I am so happy with the final product. I will most definitely use Artistic Indulgence in the future again."

(I love supporting small business owners/artists, as I am one myself.) The shop itself is not very large, but there's a decent selection of cute stuff that, for the most part, is thematically congruent with the Minnesota/Minneapolis experience. I couldn't resist a glittery ornament depicting the spoon and cherry statue (if you know, you know!). You'll find things like t-shirts, kitchen towels, wooden spoons/spatulas, chocolate, soaps, wooden art blocks, coasters, puzzles, jewelry, baby clothes, coasters, keychains, postcards, stickers, etc. I am uncertain how much or how often stock changes. Prices were pretty reasonable, considering-- obviously more than cheap junk from China would cost, but also more unique and special!"

Sarah J. "The Soo VAC is a great example of how art galleries can be so more. They start with an edgy gallery space, but they're also really into fostering interaction within the art community and including the folks who might be further outside. Lots of open gallery events - parties, really - that spill into the street in a joyful, hip ruckus. It's a non-profit which explains the periodic calls for membership. Seems like a good place to support if you believe in the arts, especially because they do interesting educational outreach. The little shop is consistently full of unusual, local things. Prints, jewelry, toys - I think I'd be happy to receive most any of it as a gift.Watch out for their annual Sashion Flow in September - a fun and festive fashion show."

"Today was the first time I visited the Textile Center...my reason for visiting was because Yelp is co-sponsoring a clothing swap here with MN Fashion Org in April during Spring Fashion Week. Ahh, a great discovery. .I wish I had known about this place last Christmas...This place is a true gem. It houses a weavers guild, a shop, a quilting guild, a library devoted to fiber arts, and a museum. I'm sure there are a few other things they have here that I didn't have the time to stumble upon either. I wish I were craftier...really I do. I walked around here today imaging myself immersed in a project or class, working dilligently on some fabulous project. Alas, I'm no longer delusional about my craft and fiber skills and know that unless I can afford to purchase such art, I'll never own it as my skill set and patience just don't allow for it.Come here to browse, be inspired or to purchase a great piece of art. If you have an appreciation for all things fiber, you'll love it here.I now know where I'm going next Christmas for gifts -- I may even sign up loved ones for some classes that I know they would appreciate."

Steve T. "Ok. A friend of a friend had a opening night photo exhibit here so I made this page, made a Yelp event, all in the hopes of getting people to the show because the photos were that cool. And now a review of the space, because like the photos, this place is that cool and now, I have a better understanding of what it's all about, sort of. So the place has been open for about 5.5 months. A warm inviting storefront with the inside filled with local artist inspirations. Prices range from the Wow! That will look kick ass in my place (for the most frugal shopper) to Wow! That will look kick ass in my place! (for the person with some deep, pockets). Everything that's sold are one-of-a-kind pieces and are quite amazing. From paper mache' sculptures (definitely worth checking out) , New Zealand reclaimed wood tables, low temp fired ceramics, paintings with prices all over the spectrum and of course, photography and more. The cool thing though is that with the gallery owner, Nance, has space in the back which could be used for other events besides showings. Not big events, but smaller ones and obviously you would need to talk to her about what your trying to do but she came off as pretty cool and open to ideas. Nance has history of doing things in the city around the arts scene and if you've been to Macy's for their holiday display, you've seen her work. This part of West 7th (3-4 block area?) is really starting to pop and one could park in the middle and walk around, eat, drink, and shop their way to the different businesses and this place, is definitely worth a stop."

Jana C. "I'm not so much reviewing the PA center as I am the very awesome open square just outside of it that had all the residents out with their kids, the ladies tanning, the music blaring, people with picnics....Outside of this center, there is this wonderful-looking creek that doubles as a fountain on hot days, as it was a week ago. Sweltering day, with temps close to 90F, I myself was seeking some shade and a cool place to center.....woopwoop! I love running into things by pure 'dum luk', which is how I happened upon this cool thing. If anyone knows Portland, it so reminded me of an imitation Jamison Square and its fountain...Delightful place to hang... if I had little rugrats, I'd bring 'em here all the time and tire them out so they don't have to create more mess in the house. Another reason I'm fond of MN: it's a place that's easy to cultivate family bonding. Loved the swing-by"

They have a parking lot right next to the building which was a delight for this suburbanite in the city!An open spaces coffee shop is on the right as you enter the main doors and a book store is on your left. After asking the security guard where to go I saw the sign for the Open Book readings at the bottom of the cool curved staircase.Upstairs had a cozy area with some chairs and couches for reading. For the event they had tables set up to sell books by the author's from Maher's & Quinn booksellers ( a wonderful bookstore!), for snacks I found out later, and the ticket table.Purchasing my ticket online beforehand made it quick and easy to check in. There was ample seating and a good turnout! I was actually glad I showed up about 10 minutes late because I initially felt like I was crashing a private meeting. The announcer was listing off names of people in the audience. I gathered it was for the writing workshops they do at the Loft Literary Center which is a part of the Open Book.I really enjoyed each author's reading of their own works. They were all so talented! Vulnerable and yet strong in telling their personal stories in their prose! I would definitely attend another one!I was a bit uncomfortable during the Q&A, yet briefly considered beginning a writing career of my own. I almost asked how one procures a mentor through their mentor workshops anyway! I decided to just turn a notebook into a journal when I got home and see how I often I would write first. My Yelp reviews and Facebook posts might get more interesting...Or entertaining!Afterwards I made a mad dash for the lobby to purchase the short story collection that had drawn me here in the first place. I was taken aback with the fancy sammies, wine, and water offered. I again felt like I was crashing someone's graduation party or something!I think because it seems to be such a close knit, supportive community of artistic writers I felt a bit out of place. But I would definitely venture into this fascinating world again for another peek!"

Immaculate I. "I love going to museums and when I heard about this one opening, I added it to my list of places to visit. This is on the 4th floor of the 1265 building at the corner of Penn & Plymouth. It is FREE of charge but they do accept and run on donations. There's also free parking in the ramp below the building. It's a quaint room that's rich with African American history in Minnesota. I learned so much about black ingenuity, the way the Penn area has changed, and migration of African Americans to this area. There's a photo book that asks for people to identify those in the pictures. There are children's books in the corner, and cool art pieces. My favorite part was sitting down and listening to the documentary/interviews of different people who have lived and seen the changes in this area of town. These stories are so rich and it would be a shame to lose them. Don't let the size of the museum deter you: it's small but packs a punch in cultural information. Highly recommend it!
