Dark, smoky, and full of flavor. Good way to describe the food, decor, and the atmosphere. Plenty of smoke and spice on this menu. From the sauces to the Pimento cheese dip. Everything on the menu seems to have smoke, spice (heat), or both. Started with the Pimento cheese dip, really good, spicy dip, and we loved the tortilla chips that come with the dip. I ordered the Tri Tip, plenty of smokiness with a Chimichurri that is full of flavor. The meat was so tender but the smoke was almost too much. We also ordered the Sausage Sampler (Cheddarwurst, Green Chorizo, Northern Thai Sausage). Enough sausage to feed a family. The Green Chorizo has plenty of kick. As a side we ordered the Smoked Beef Mac and Cheese. Other than smoke it lacked flavor, and honestly, it was disappointing. Dessert was a Latte and a slice their Hummingbird Cake. The Latte was excellent! The cake was okay, almost on the dry side. In all we were slightly disappointed by our food but it was good enough to go back and try something different from the menu. Service was very good. Super knowledgeable and not afraid to give an honest opinion. I do have to mention the parking. The entire parking lot is "valet". Unfortunately, the valet driver stands inside and collects $10 from everyone that they see park in the lot. So essentially it is $10 parking. I'm giving this restaurant 4 stars but 3.5 is probably more accurate.

First impressions: The ambiance is nice! I was excited to be there, and it smelled good! The service was okay, we had multiple people come to our table, it was decent. The food: Well this is where I was a little disappointed. The big beef rib was tasty, not as meaty for $80. But the smoked Mac and cheese was lacking, the catfish was weird and crumbly. The sausage platter was just okay. Final cost was a bit much for what we ate. I came back for brunch and I was pleasantly surprised! Most things I tasted were good! Chicken and waffles. Shrimp and grits, we're all very tasty! Service was very slow this time.

This was my first time back since Butcher & The Boar returned to Minneapolis. The new setting is just as nice as the old ( now Butcher's Tale). The food has maintained its high quality. We were celebrating my birthday so went all out and got the $82 Long Rib and it was every bit as good as my memories from the first time I had it. It's definitely shareable so that makes the price a bit more palatable as well. As an appetizer we had the Blue Crab Beignets which were quite tasty. We also had ordered the backed beans which were tremendous but more meat than bean. Truth be told I was a bit hesitant to return here as the prices have definitely gone up in the years since I was last here. To be expected. But in the end i needn't have worried. We had a great meal at a price that seemed pretty fair in the end. Still highly recommend!

Lovely dinner for a Valentine's Day date. Everything we ordered was delicious and we had a lot of food to take home at the end. Our server recommended a few of his favorites, and so we got those (porchetta charcuterie, brussel sprouts, charred chicken). I'm not a big fan of corn bread in general and probably wouldn't order that again- just because there is so much of it. Highly recommend the charred chicken!! The pork chop was also good, but there was a ton of it. We had it for three meals, basically (two additional meals after taking what we couldn't finish home). Good for that price, though! Overall good experience! The music seemed a little off for the feel of the restaurant, but I think it was because of the Valentine's Day theme. Service was great.

I visited Butcher and Boar because I've heard such great things about it and about its back room/speakeasy. Unfortunately I was disappointed by the quality of the food. The location and food are visually appealing but the seasoned curly fries were cold and lacked flavor. The burger was okay but also severely missing seasoning. The servers were really nice. The music is very loud, keep this mind. A few people were reading or studying and I thought it would be difficult to do that with the music volume.

We had a lovely dining experience at the Butcher and the Boar more than once. I can't recall our first server, but on our second visit our server Naseem was great! To start, we shared the grilled cauliflower with harissa, pickled celery, smoked aioli and Red Hot Brussels sprouts with buttermilk ranch. The cauliflower was a bit too burnt for me.We also shared the grilled shrimp but asked to omit fried green tomatoes and requested white bbq sauce, herb salad on the side. In addition to the Asparagus. We forgot to ask to omit the pork. Finally for dessert, I could not resist having the Pineapple upside down cake. It is rare to have this dessert, and it is one of my favorites. I like sweet and this pineapple upside down cake was very delicious!Butcher & The Boar is such a beautiful and very elegant space. I think this place would be a great location for private parties, large groups, date night or anything else you want to experience in style.B&B I am so glad you're back!

We have always loved butcher and the boar but recently got to visit their newer location in the north loop and all we can say is YUM!!The new location's ambiance makes you want to stay, eat, and be merry. It is such a cozy, masculine, and zen space. Makes you feel like you're in a totally different environment when you step in the door. We had the....grilled sourdough bread 10/10 (something so simple taste so good)Long Rib 100/10 (wow that meat falls off the bone with elegance)Pork Chop 10/10 (go to favorite for us, the flavors are mouth watering)mash potatoes 10/10 (buttery deliciousness as a side filler)Shrimp 10/10 (unexpected dish and so glad we got it. I could eat this for a meal)Chocolate Torte Cake Dessert - YUM! perfect night capEspresso Martini - Sweeter side, coffee forward. Go for the wine instead IMOStaff - 10/10 so great in general and friendly but also so kind to us being we had our newborn with which doesn't always make dining easy. They were so grateful for our visit and we were so glad to be hosted by them and just out of the house. Can't wait to go back without kids, belly up at the bar, and totally indulge. The bar menu is different than the dining area too FYI!

MOTHER'S DAY BRUNCH REVIEWWe visited for their Mother's Day brunch buffet, and were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the fare!A family member booked our reservation, so we knew the price ahead of time but not the food lineup. The price was pretty steep, but I knew this place was on the fancier side so hoped it would live up to the cost. And honestly, it did! They have a parking lot which is a HUGE win in the North Loop! It wasn't too packed when we arrived, and we got a really nice big table for our family group. The interior decor is very elevated and classy, again on the higher end side. The buffet was top notch quality, including delicious grits, au gratin potatoes, eggs, sausage, some of the best bacon I've ever had, and freshly sliced prime rib. Each bite was delicious - but with all pretty meat-forward and heavy fare, we filled up fast. We really enjoyed our celebratory brunch here and would recommend for folks looking for a holiday buffet on the fancier side!

One word - Outstanding! From the vibe to the service to the food - beyond reproach. I cannot get enough of this place and absolutely cannot wait to go back. Probably dare I say some of the best food in downtown Minneapolis! Don't sleep on this place!
