Loved Billy! Every roll is better than the next with my favorite being the Big Blue Wave (not pictured)! Our wonderful server Suheily took great care of us and made the perfect recommendations on cocktails, appetizers and rolls to share! There is no parking lot or ramp attached to the restaurant, make sure you plan for a little extra time to find a street spot, or walk over from a ramp!

The (mostly)short and sweet:All in all nothing bad happened, our server was good, restaurant is nice and clean. The menu is solid, it's just not great and woefully overpriced. Our party of 4 spent a tad over $300 and Billy Sushi does not at all warrant it as the value is not there nor did I feel the experience was sufficient to even get 3 stars. Skip the highly overpriced Sake and note they do not serve any warm sake.If you want a bit more context:Took my daughter out for her 26th birthday at Billy Sushi. Looking back I suspended and or flatly broke some very basic principles that likely would have stopped me from the mistake we were about to make. I am an avid fan of all things ocean and sea with a particular love for those that can be eaten raw. When I go out for sushi I tend to avoid the rolls and gravitate toward the sashimi and nigiri. It's not that I don't like the rolls it's that I prefer to pay for and get the 'goods' without all the fluff in a roll. For starters we ordered, Bill San's Po Boi, Tempura Avocado and Crispy Rice Tuna. Po Boi and the Avocado were excellent and really got them both stars in this review as there was little upside from there and simply no value. As would be the case with most of the tuna the Crispy Rice Tuna was not great and was very fishy. Since not everyone in the party felt the same as me about rolls we went with 3, George Clooney, Uncultured Swan, Tiger Maki. I enjoyed the George Clooney a lot and the Uncultured Swan was decent but too salty. Hard no on Tiger Maki again very fishy and too salty. At nearly $30 a roll I would have expected a wow factor but honestly I've had better for slightly more than half that price. In addition to the rolls I ordered the Blue Fin Chu Toro sashimi, Scallops sashimi and Yellowtail nigiri. Blue fin was very fishy and not at all buttery or fatty. I've had much better locally in the suburbs for far less money. Scallops were ok but I'd recommend a ponzu/mirin or something with them as they were not sweet like good scallops should be. I've made my own from Costco Hokkaido scallops that put these to shame at a 10th the price. Yellowtail nigiri was excellent but of little consolation this deep into the meal. My gorgeous but seafood averse wife had the Miso Soup, Beef Kushi Yaki and JFC. She said all were very average. As someone who has had excellent sushi on both coasts and who regularly makes their own, I would caution you to think twice before believing Billy Sushi is going to deliver a premium experience.

I should have thought through what I was ordering and how much it cost, I ordered enough for four, it was just two of us. That bill was like a lottery win but reverse...but we ate it all and we won't go starving. So parking. Parking sucks. It's a busy area, you're going to circle a lot and probably get pissy by the minute if you have a reservation, just park in the first spot you see and walk your butt the rest of the way to avoid all that. The restaurant had a modern Japanese design, open spaces, lots of noise, lots of people. The bathroom wallpaper is weird, the water is ice cold, I don't know what to make of the vibe it's giving, go take a look. We were seated at the bar and could see the chefs work, I'd prefer a table next time. We were smushed in there and I was seated with a wooden support beam to my back so no space for my legs, and you couldn't actually see what the chefs were doing. On to food, let's see if I can remember everything. The French laundry - foie gras topped with caviar, amazing. Squid game - too salty, but the squid was perfectly tender. Crispy rice tuna - rice was seasoned well, crispy and gooey. Bluefin tuna special - 12 pieces, 3 different cuts, lean, medium, and fatty. Omg, I'd get this every time, each cut was great, but those fatty pieces just slowly melt away in your mouth, so silky. Nigiri - Sake, uni, eel, ikura, and salmon roe. All fresh. I would have liked 3 more orders of the uni. B.A.D & Boujee roll - that rice was perfect and a reminder that not all sushi rice is equal. Oh, and I ordered a mocktail, that biscuit was $10, should have just gotten a cocktail at that price, but it was good. Verdict - I liked it, but next time I'll arrive at opening and maybe I'll have better luck parking. Ask for a table, order less, and don't go to the bathroom.

This place is ridiculous! It's so fresh, so luxurious, worth every penny you spend (low or high end) it's all good! Some of the best sushi in the city - it's a must visit when you're here!

We didn't have a reservation but lucked out with seats at the bar on a Saturday night and parking right outside...so clearly I was meant to have some sushi!Everything we had was beautiful, prepared perfectly and tasted delicious. I also love their saucy/sassy vibe and the modern pop culture references throughout. You can see everything we had in the photos attached.

We were in town for Work just for the weekend. We were supposed to go to Manny steakhouse but we're so tired decided to order in. This is the best decision we ever could've made that night. We ordered some nigiri, a few of their signature sushi rolls, vegetable gyoza. I wasn't impressed with the gyoza but the fish was fresh and so good! Is was a Saturday night and it was bumpin. the bar and dining room were packed. and the Hostess was so sweet!

Amazing sushi! It was my first time in the midwest and was super curious when my friends told me they wanted to take me to sushi. Sushi was fresh and delicious! My favorite was the butterfly roll. The waitress was great and kept pouring us our bottle we ordered. The restaurant was so beautiful and bright! I would definitely fo back!

While this is an expensive sushi restaurant (specialty rolls run from $20 to $36), the quality of the sushi is fresh and flavorful. I've been to Billy's twice, with my most recent visit on 12/5/2024. The restaurant was decked out for the holidays, and a welcoming sight from the bleak weather. Thankfully it wasn't too busy, and I was able to get a seat at the counter without a reservation (might want to consider a reservation if you go on a Friday or weekend). I started my meal with their Cuz I Love You cocktail ($15, strawberry gin, yuzu and lemon juice, simple syrup, cherry bark vanilla bitters), which wasn't too sweet and a nice way to start the night. Miso soup ($7, good broth) and the mistletoe roll ($27, crab and spicy tuna topped with tuna, eel, snapper, salmon, avocado, white tuna) followed. I agree with the other reviewers that Billy's does a great job at providing fresh fish and creating fun-flavored rolls for their menu. Note for the hearing impaired folks, because it's an open kitchen, it can get quite loud. Since it wasn't too busy, I had a pleasant conversation with one of the sushi chefs (botany nerds unite, they use shiso flowers as a garnish that are a part of the mint family!). My waiter was friendly and attentive, and I enjoy the attention to detail both in the presentation of the food to the hot hand towel to wash your hands at the beginning of the visit. All in all, a lovely evening with great food.

Such a fun take on sushi. I loved the options, it was all delicious. The cocktails were unique and delicious. We had the best service. Our server even gave me a birthday drink! So sweet. The ambiance is upscale casual. You can dress up, but you don't have to. Great spot for a date, celebrating a birthday, or meeting with friends. We also got to meet Billy of Billy Sushi himself!

Billy Sushi never disapoints! Always such a good vibe and great food. The servers are very friendly and the sushi comes out very quickly. The sushi recipes are innovative and delicious and very unique compared to other sushi restaurants. Make reservations, especially if you plan on coming at prime times or be prepared to wait quite a long time. The restaurant is always full, so don't expect to be able to linger at your table for a very long time. It's in downtown and that area is always busy, so plan in time to find parking!
