I've been hearing about this place for awhile! Numerous people that I know have been here and said they love this spot! So my girl and I had to make a stop today. First off, very clean and modern looking inside. The staff member help us very quick and everything was made to order right in front of us. The food came right off the grill and upon first bite, VERY VERY flavorful You could take everything and it all just worked together so well. From the steak, to the egg, to the grape jelly. There's still more sandwiches that I need to try, so we'll definitely be making it back.- Anthony

Street parking is my only real complaint. The sandwiches are kinda pricey but definitely dense and filling. I ordered the "When doves cry" and let me tell you - the first bite I actually heard a dove cry (happy tears). It was delightful. I love the ambiance and the music - quirky and right up my alley. The service is always superb and I will be back for move dove tears

Been here a few times with some friends that are vegetarians. Steak egg sandwich is my favorite but others were good as well. Great service and food was hot and fresh.

I REALLY wanted to like this place, if only because the staff were so kind. I was excited by their super stylish website but the restaurant itself was sort of a yellow nightmare. The cling film on the windows just cast a weird yellow hue around the place that, if I worked there, would make me quit. I didn't really get what the style was going for; it was like intentionally run-down but also kind of unintentionally so? Why was a booth's bench seat covered in packing tape & stickers? We walked in on a Saturday morning around 11:30 & the restaurant was EMPTY. Not all that shocking since Grand Ave seems a lot more desolate these days, but I was expecting at least 1 other customer to be inside (we thought they were closed when we first walked up). I tried to order the California Love & the staff told me they were out of that & the fried chicken sandwich (can't remember the name & it's not listed on their site). I ordered my backup plan, the When Doves Cry (SCRAMBLED EGG, HUMMUS,WILTED SPINACH, FETA CHEESE)--definitely get points for their fun names. I asked before ordering my coffee what they were out of there, & it was unfortunately my first choice & backup pick: Lavender Buds & Strawberry Switchblade. I love that they serve Misfit coffee, though. --When Doves Cry: this sandwich, to me, was not worth $15. The bun was delicious & fluffy with a nice crisp, but the entire sandwich was a salt bomb. The textures all sort of melded together into a squishy blob between buns, with the occasional string of spinach between the teeth. --Cold Brew: I added oat milk & vanilla & it was delicious! Bummer that they were out of their speciality drinks.--Rocket Man: my husband loves a smash burger & ordered this sandwich; he said it wasn't salty enough & we agree that it also wasn't worth the price. I think this place could be salvageable & I really want to like it, but it's a pass for me.

Here's the deal: food was good but overpriced. I'll first say that the staff was very friendly. It felt like talking to a friend instead of an employee. Great first impression. Not to mention, this service was offered when they were short staff (only one person working). The breakfast sandwiches are great! However, it's too much money especially when you consider it's just a bun (not a bagel). The kids menu isn't advertised, but it's available if you have young ones with you.

Culinary Bliss at Big E!My recent visit to Big E, curated by the talented Justin Sutherland, was nothing short of extraordinary. As a fan of his appearances on Food Network, experiencing his culinary creations in person was a treat.I delved into the Rocket Man and Dance Yrself Clean sandwiches, each a masterpiece of flavor and thoughtful ingredient curation. I even paid another visit the following week to check out their short term special sandwich named "For All The Dogs" which was an amazing spam sandwich The attention to detail in crafting these sandwiches was evident, making each bite a culinary adventure.Despite the challenge of parking on the bustling Grand Avenue, the fact that it's free adds to the allure of this gem. The staff's exceptional customer service and friendliness elevated the overall dining experience.Stepping inside, the restaurant's ambiance was beautiful. The art, vibes, and attention to every detail created a welcoming atmosphere that complemented the outstanding food.Big E is more than a restaurant; it's a culinary journey where every element, from sandwiches to service, earns a well-deserved 10 out of 10. If you appreciate exceptional food, friendly staff, and a vibrant atmosphere, Big E is a must-visit!

The sandwich is literally a cheap hamburger bun, a super cheap chewy hockey puck piece of steak, kraft American sliced cheese and an egg. I don't even taste any jelly that it is suppose to have on it. It's horrible. Will not be returning Service was decent. Ambiance was very dull inside. Thanks but No Thanks!

Super disappointed by this experience as I was really looking forward to having a good breakfast sandwich. The main problem was the super chewy, undercooked bacon that plagued the sandwich. Don't get me wrong, there was PLENTY of bacon on the sandwich (and for the price point there should be) but it was so chewy and underdone that it made the sandwich completely undesirable to eat. I will say that the service was friendly and the coffee was good. It is a counter service spot so you walk all the way to the back to order and then find a seat. Street parking available on Grand and surrounding side streets

Surprisingly we found parking right in front. With Grand you don't know what your going to get. I have been wanting to try this place when I saw it on one of my ABC morning shows. It didn't disappoint! It's kinda small, but quaint inside. Packs a cool vibe. Clean. Staff is friendly & knowledgeable about the restaurant history. We ordered our food to dine in. We weren't sure what we were going to do until we got there. Our meals came out fresh and the fries, crispy and hot. I had their take on bagels and lox, which is my favorite breakfast. Best salmon, capers and egg situation ever! Took a bite and all the flavors burst, and the bread was soft! I told my husband this S$!T right here was fire! Exact words! I shimmied my shoulders and hit a high note! He had a bite of his, but felt it was missing something that he tasted in mine. The fries were beer battered and fried golden brown. Didn't need any sauce. I picked this place for my husband. The music was old skool 90's, perfect for us. The name of the sandwiches were "music" names which was cool. The coffee was on point. Didn't have a bitter after taste and the coffee is local. I've seen reviews about the price, but everything is up everywhere, so this is no different. You have options :)My husband did like it, so we'll be going back for sure!!

I love me a breakfast sandwich, it's like my favorite meal of the day. We had an awesome VIP experience at Big E. The owner was dining in as well so we chatted with him for a bit while waiting for our sandwiches, super cool friendly guy and was super accommodating when our food came out offering little treats to add to our meal. The sandwich I ordered usually comes with bacon but opted for sausage instead and it was fire - that aoli was fire too definitely could smother the sandwich with that, we tried the miso aoli too which was really good. My only snobby complaint was wishing I had an option for bread like English muffin bagel or croissant but the brioche bun was fluffy and delicious. The hashbrown was super crispy and crunchy which is a A+ for me. They have a great selection of drinks as well, this is a great addition to Grand - definitely will be going back to try other sandwiches on the menu.
