In-house creamery, on-site made ice cream - 5 stars!If any of you have read my reviews of ice cream shops, you know that I love dairy and I love, love, love in-house craft ice cream! You really can't beat the quality. And you can definitely taste the difference. This isn't mass produced Kemps or Cedar Crest factory ice cream - it's the real deal.I checked out Big Dipper after grabbing some sushi nearby. I stumbled across them while driving out of the big mall area. I'm glad I was paying attention. What a find! I ordered a cup of chocolate peanut butter ice cream. Yum!I'm jealous that I don't have a creamery near my home in the Anoka area.Thumbs up!-Maxx

I'm surprised how this ice cream shop stays open, but it's been around for awhile and has several ice cream flavors and options The staff who works there are always wonderful. I hope it continues to stay here in our neighborhood!

Love this place. Found it by dumb luck after eating next door. Come here to get your fix. We will definitely be back on the next time we are up here

Great ice cream-- excellent service! Grands had two scoops & that was perfect. We were able to sample to make our choices!

My husband surprised me with an Easter cake from Big Dipper this year. It was SO good! It was chocolate peanut butter cup ice cream on top and Oreo ice cream on the bottom, separated by a layer of fudge. It was fantastic.You may wish to follow up with your order once you place it. My husband didn't get a confirmation email, so he called just to ensure they got the order and he said the woman who answered was "frazzled" but confirmed the order. :)I've never been in the shop, but I can attest to the fact that their cakes are amazeballs.

Have been going to the Big Dipper in Blaine for years and always enjoyed it. When this one first opened, I feel like it was a bit limited. Now, it's been open a while and I feel like they are rolling.Big Dipper actually makes their own ice cream instead of simply dipping someone else's ice cream. They have quite a number of flavors and they do change at times. The North Oaks store doesn't have as many flavors as Blaine does but it does have a great selection. All the flavors I have enjoyed are there.On a nice day, the place was hopping but the line moved quickly and people were very friendly.I definitely recommend stopping by!!

Stopped in on a hot Saturday as my son wanted some ice cream. Thought this would be a good place to try. Cute little place located in the Shoreview/North Oaks strip mall. A fair amount of tables to sit at if you choose. Sampled the white house cherry (will have to try that next time) , but wound up getting the pistachio. My son ordered the cotton candy with sprinkles in a sugar cone. We each chose one scoop which is plenty. It is quite a large scoop for one.Pleasant and helpful people working there.Cute little ice cream shop and good ice cream.

I will admit they have pretty good ice cream. Most of their flavors are generally the ones you can find in other ice cream parlors, however, what I enjoy is their responsible prices for the more elaborate desserts. For example, like a brownie sundae and banana split. However, I would not go with the brownie sundae if you are expecting a soft moist pull apart brownie. I had the brownie sundae and it was okay. The brownie was warmed up in the microwave; which I don't mind. I would do that at home as well. But the brownie was almost as dry as cake. Not like the dense type of brownie that you would expect. Big Dipper also has a coupon/texting system for coupons, for those people who are pretty thrifty like myself.Bottom Line: I might try it again.

Very good! Customer service was great. We had a banana split. We picked our own flavors and toppings. It was delicious!

For the best ice cream, I go here. Most of the time the service is excellent. The ice cream is delicious. But I could only give them 3 stars. Because my hot fudge banana sundae had two slices of banana. On another visit, my banana split was as if she had never been taught how to make one. The toppings were all piled in the middle and I had to tell her three times what toppings to put on. She served it to me without whipped cream and didn't ask me if I wanted it. A very sad experience and I enjoyed the banana split from DQ so much more, which is weird!
