I was browsing through Foodsby at work for lunch last week and decided on Banh Appetit. I'm glad I did, the food was great and delivery was on time. Here's what I ordered:The Special - Make it a SandwichSide of Fries & Beverage +1.99Diet Dr. Pepper | CanExtra Spicy Mayo +0.75Including delivery, fees, tax, and food, my order was $12.48. I think I had about $2 in credits I used through the delivery service as well.I also requested added pate and I don't think they charged me for it. (Definitely recommend adding pate to any banh mi!) The sandwich came wrapped, the fries were great, and the can of pop was still cold. Amazing! I ate half of the sandwich for lunch and saved the second for later. The meat in the sandwich was seasoned well and there was just a little bit of spice with the jalapenos. I love spicy mayo and for 75c they sent me two little tubs of it. Bless up.I'd order from Banh Appetit again for sure!

A traditional Banh Mi is the PERFECT lunch! Crunchy bread, fresh veggies, creamy mayo/pate, and flavorful meat and Banh Appetit has a lovely take on the classic!!! I would order their Classic Bahn Mi again and again! The space itself has street parking, which is often pretty full considering how close it is to the U of M campus. Counter service ordering and some seating available inside while you wait. The interior is pretty simple and the staff were friendly during my ordering experience! Overall, a great lunch spot if you're looking for easy, simple, good value, and top-notch flavor!

This is the BEST banh mi I've had in a long time! I got the tofu with sautéed onions and bell peppers. I normally don't even like tofu that much. But this tofu was so soft and almost custardy inside, with the most delicious seasoned crust. The bread was fresh and warm, with a generous pile of pickled carrots, daikon, jalapeño and cilantro inside. The flavors were bright and balanced. I also got a crème brûlée white coffee at Giot next door, which was ridiculously good. The coffee was aromatic and rich, with lots of cream and a thick layer of silky foam on top. It's a separate business, but they're running from the same counter. Strangely, Giot accepts electronic payment, but Banh Appetit doesn't. I am so happy that I listened to the Yelp reviews and tried this place. Some restaurants are interesting to try once, but this is a place I'll be coming back to over and over again. Yep; it's the next day, and I already came back!

The Dirty Bird is the sandwich that converted me to a Banh Appetit truther.I had previously just found Banh Appetit to be okay, back when I was vegetarian--I had tried the grilled tofu sandwich which I felt was just fine compared to other tofu banh mi that I'd had before. However, I recently tried the Dirty Bird (hot chicken) sandwich for the first time and I've been absolutely HOOKED since then.It has a really aromatic and flavorful five spice(?) seasoning, and it IS hot--but the perfect amount of spice that actually enhances the other flavors rather than just drowning them out. The fries are always crispy and on point too, and you just cannot beat the price of their combo deal--the combo of the Dirty Bird, fries, and a can of soda is a steal at $11.74. This is the go-to place of pretty much everyone I know who went to the U, and for good reason. There's a little covered parking lot at the corner of 13th and 5th that has designated free spaces for patrons of the JJ's/KFT/Banh Appetit/etc strip, which I only just found out about recently which absolutely rocks too! One of the absolute best places to get a cheap and delicious bite on the East Bank.

I have not been to the restaurant and can only write the review based off the food I received from my order on DoorDash. I do want to preface this with that I am Vietnamese so my opinion can a bit picky when it comes to Asian food and specifically Vietnamese food. I ordered 3 things :1. Special sandwich2. Pork spring rolls3 Fries The special sandwich was very wet when I received it. The bread didn't have a nice crunch which could be caused by the quality of bread but also the filling. There's a lot of moist ingredients so the whole banh mi had a sloppy messy feel. This could be more forgiving if there was flavor. This sandwich was bland. The egg mixture was bland , the pickled carrots was bland , pâté was also bland . The meat has some flavor but still very mute. Usually a good bánh mi sandwich would have a nice crunchy bread and flavorful inside but this lacked it. The first thing I noticed was that my two spring wills were different sizes and they were overly stuffed. Chill on the noodles. The spring rolls were tightly rolled up which could've been because of it being too full. Usually spring rolls are served with peanut sauce this was served with fish sauce. Interesting but not a good choice . My spring roll was also very bland and crumbled as I took a bite into it. The only thing I liked were the fries and siracha mayo with it. My only complaint is that the fries were cold, it was apparent they had been out for awhile. They lacked the crunch they once had . I read the reviews and am curious if this is just the product of a busy lunch rush. Either way not impressed .

Friendly service and fair prices for the amount of food you're getting! Was not wowed by our sandwich though. A little disappointed they didn't have mayo to make it less dry.

We ordered takeout and everything was so hot and fresh. The Dirty Bird sandwich is NO JOKE when they say it's spicy. I could only finish half of the sandwich while crying tears of spice and happiness lol. The Classic sandwich was incredible. Perfect amount of spice and absolutely loaded with meats and toppings. Added a little house sauce to it and it was incredible. The Vermicelli salad with lemongrass chicken is delicious - I'd eat this for lunch every single day. The spring rolls were fantastic too and the house sauce just makes them even better. The cream cheese wontons could be cooked longer but they're still fantastic as is. Would highly recommend checking them out. Hoping to go in person someday but their takeout/doordash is always great!Incredible customer service - they forgot our drink with my takeout order and they called immediately and refunded my card. Absolutely have my return business!!

I ordered delivery from DoorDash and was really excited because the reviews were so good but it fell short. I got the special and the crab Rangoons. The food was delivered fast which was nice but I was not impressed with how it tasted. The crab Rangoons did not taste like crab at all. I couldn't actually see any meat (imitation or real). It also lacked flavor. The bahn mi had an unusual fishy taste to it? I took the egg off and it was a little better. Maybe the egg was cooked in fish sauce? The pork was super fatty and the flavor was dull. Unfortunately I was not a fan
