Backerei & Coffee Shop

This spot is perfectly located in the heart of New Ulm's downtown strip. The calm atmosphere makes it an ideal spot to grab a cup of Joe, a fresh donut, and take a moment for yourself. The staff was prompt and ready to offer help. We tried the donut of the week which was a Caramel Heath Donut. The donut itself was light and airy while the toppings were rich and indulgent. We will absolutely come back if we return to New Ulm - especially to try their variety of fresh take home items!

Huge cinnamon buns. Great bakery selection and fantastic coffee. Don't let the lines scare you, there's three people behind the counter that move everything along fantastic. He must breakfast place

Cream cheese croissants. The maple frosted cinnamon roll. The breads. The dinner rolls. AMAZING. Stop and get yourself some! Sorry I didn't take pics. Got gobbled up too fast. And they do take plastic now. The food is five-star. Who cares how cutesie it is.

Best jelly donuts on the planet! All of their pastries are yummy. Worth driving to for their rolls!

My family and I visited here during thanksgiving week. We are from out of state and we're in town visiting family, not knowing the town or anything else, we drove past it, and decided to stop in as the smell was amazing from the street! At first glance, it looks good, friendly patrons and a diverse variety of pastries and treats. We picked up cinnamon rolls, that honestly, it is big enough for tow-three people to share! They are AMAZING!!! We took them home and warmed them up 15-20 seconds, and oh my! It was perfection!!! The only reason why it is not a five star is because it lacked a bit more character. The place is cute, but it looks like they just opened, not too much decor, or color.... the other reason was that it lacked more drink choices, maybe espresso bar or fresh tea. Over all, very good, great options on breads and pastries!

Friendly service, tons of fresh made bread and even more sweets - - think iced cookies, danishes, etc. I purchased a dozen cookies for some of my clients. And being that it's the Holidays, I got some Gingerbread men and decorated snowmen sugar cookies. All under $9. Great deal!I could totally see buying breads here often (if I lived in New Ulm.)

I remember going to the Backerie as a teenager when in New Ulm for my orthodontist appointments. After the appointment we would stop in and get a treat. On the way through town with my husband we stopped to get a treat. They still have great service. The selection seemed a little less than I remember but the cookies taste just as great. Soft, chewy cookies that it the spot with your afternoon coffee. They only accept cash so remember to leave your cards at home.

An awesome mama/pop place in New Ulm. I grew up eating these in the Sunday mornings. Oh the memories :) If you haven't had a Maple Covered Long John or a Cinnamon Roll from this place, you haven't eaten a REAL donut. Eat them right away as that is when they are best! Then ENTER a massive food coma. Repeat. Also, just to note: If you plan to take them home put them in a box & not a paper bag as the bag just ruins the whole thing.

Nice and clean. Great selection of baked goods. Very large cinnamon roll and the fritters were yummy. Coffee was good too.
