I don't give 5 stars out very willingly- but our dinner was worth it! We started with the duck wontons- (had before at different restaurants) While these were dIfferent, they were so,so good. They're paired with a blueberry sauce that complements them perfectly! The popovers with the cinnamon butter are delicious(of course!) Husband ordered ribs with regular bbq sauce and they were tender and very good! I ordered the coconut shrimp which was suggested by our waiter. I loved the green beans the most! Our server was attentive and very nice. He went above and beyond for us! I DID request a booth, via yelp, but was never messaged back. But the host/waiter did end up making it happen upon our arrival! Much appreciated and made our date night great!

I went to Axels for a private hosted seminar for work, it wasn't the greatest experience. The restaurant is connected to a hotel, not a problem but the bathroom being outside the restaurant shared with the hotel was a bit of a mess. The bathroom had a space heater that was half plugged in but running to keep it warm, it gave off a bit of a burning smell and a few out of order things going on. Overall the restaurant has an older feel to it. We were put in a private area and it was but tight. The food/courses had been pre planned besides picking 1 out of 3-4 entrees. I got a chicken pasta and many others opted for steak. The steak doneness was questionable. Someone ordered theirs well done and it came out pretty red. The pasta was okay flavor wise. We also got salads, popovers w/ cinnamon butter, dessert (cheesecake) and drinks. The drinks were good. The service was a bit shaky. They would bring out some items then would be a while before others got them even though we were batched served (because we all got the same items). One person would ask for something and the waiter would walk away to fulfill that request which would take awhile instead of talking multiple requests. This happened a bit especially with drink requests but I do get that large groups can be a lot of work. Overall nothing really stood out to be to make me want to go back or recommend going here.

I have started to get wary of restaurants attached to hotels, as they seem to rely on the business the hotel patrons give and don't make much of an effort otherwise. This recent visit to Axel's solidified that feeling for me.I will note, our service was fantastic. We had alerted our server that we had another thing to get to, so she took care of us quickly and efficiently.Food...only so-so. The complimentary popovers were great, but ended up being the highlight of the meal. The wild rice soup had an odd flavor, like it was cooked with sherry that had gone sour. The blackened chicken penne was large enough to split with someone, but the chicken was hardly blackened (I know that doesn't mean burnt, but there was barely seasoning on it) and the pesto sauce also had a bitter taste.Patio seating was nice, even if you only have a view of 35W.

Note: This Axel's is attached to the DoubleTree Hilton in Roseville, MN.Story: I had a 7:00 am WebEx meeting that I would join in my room. I ordered Room Service for delivery between 6:30 - 7:00 am. They arrived at 6:57 am. The Good: Delivery person was very professional, and the delivered meal looked fantastic! I'm sharing a photo.Meal: Bull Bite Omelette ($18). Includes "Bull Bites" (whatever that is), tomatoes, Hollandaise sauce, Hash Browns, and white toast. The Bad: The Bull Bites were good chunks of steak, but unfortunately, overcooked (I prefer Medium Rare), and too much salt. The tomatoes are a weird addition, as I don't expect tomatoes to be paired with steak. The Hollandaise sauce was good! It provided a nice cream for the eggs and steak. The Hash Browns needed another 5 minutes on the grill to make them toasty and crunchy.I prefer Wheat, Sour Dough, or English Muffins, so White bread is not my choice. Still, they did provide 2 slices, but only one small jelly packet--and no butter! The Ugly: The omelette was nicely filled, a little salty and overcooked, and again, the tomatoes is an odd accompaniment. The Hollandaise Sauce made it better. And no butter for the toast? Come on!Drink: Orange Juice, 8 oz ($4). That's pricey for a small OJ, but it is a hotel. Overall, it was just okay. The next morning, I went to their Buffet Breakfast ($15), and the scrambled eggs were not well prepared (rubbery)--but they did have a variety of fruits, sausage, bacon, yogurts, etc. Sadly, the Breakfast Buffet Server never asked me if I wanted coffee or juice. I will stay at the hotel again in the future, so I'll give them another chance.

This was the worst service in a restaurant I had received in a long time. For starters, the Chicken dumpling soup took forever to arrive as an appetizer. Our waitress decided to ignore us for the majority of the night instead of telling us that the kitchen was behind due to two large parties. I was able to figure this out by asking her the wait time in the kitchen. My clue was how long it took to receive an appetizer. I think this only frustrated me because I made last-minute reservations. Therefore, this should have been something that was addressed/modified before I walked in. Back to the service, I was able to track down the manager to bring the table the complimentary poppers. The poppers are light and fluffy and served with maple butter. It's very easy to get full off of this bread. For dinner, I ordered the Supper Club Experience which included ribeye steak, house salad, and vegetable (broccoli). The steak was cooked fine. I ordered it medium well but it came well done. Not a big deal because this is what I expected ...considering how my night started here. This location is attached to a Radisson hotel. I have been to an Axel location before and it was a classy experience. This location in Roseville appears as if they aren't even trying to keep up the reputation.

When we arrived at a little after 10 am and were advised that the kitchen was in the process of changing out the buffet from breakfast to brunch. We were asked to wait to plate food. Our coffee came with no cream or sugar nor were we offered any. When the waiter came back with my champagne we asked for cream. The eggs on the Benedict were hard and overcooked. I let the waiter know. None of the food was hot; it was barely warm. Unfortunately we will not be back.

Service good. Food tasted good. But ordered the filet rare and it was medium. Never was asked how it was cooked but it tasted good and I didn't complain. Was told by the bartender that bottles of wine was 1/2 price on Wednesday and had to bring that up to my server to make the bill right. Did get seated right away. I'll try it again.

Do they even want business? Not too busy tonight, diners at 3 tables and one patron at the bar. I step in and wait at the hostess stand. Two employees pass me. The first with a nod, and he goes off to a corner to chat with another employee. The second says I'll be right with you and then proceeds to check on all 3 tables and heads into the kitchen. In the meantime, the bartender looks at me. When I return his gaze, he starts wiping down the bar. What a way to make customers feel welcome.
