You never know how much kindness matters!I am not a member but use the indoor gym for walking in the winter. I went to sign up for a pass and Patty, the woman at the front desk, was so kind and helpful that it made my day. You see, I had just experienced severe, life-threatening depression for over a year. Exercise is part of my recovery, and it took all I could do to get there that first day. If Patty had been anything less than the friendly, helpful person she was, I might have walked out the door and not returned. She literally threw me a lifeline. Now that I have been going for a while, I really appreciate Bob who keeps the gym in great condition and is also very friendly and welcoming. Thank you staff!

Spacious facility that is connected to the Andover Community Center. Newer building (especially when compared to Emma B. Y in Coon Rapids). A nice selection of classes are offered during the day and evening. This YMCA is a drive for me, but I like the cleanliness and class offerings!

Facility is average, YMCA has very limited hours. They will take your membership and your Money Electronically. But that completely and utterly refuse to cancel your membership unless you drive in during their limited business hours and walk them through cancellation. Even if you have NEVER been able to make it to a YMCA since you joined electronically (which is borderline fraud, if you take funds electronically you should be able to cancel electronically).

Such a beautiful facility! I have gone with a friend to this location a couple times and have taken the Turbo Jam class on Saturday morning (which yes - you might see the white light after you are done, but it is worth it!). The instructor is nuts (in a 'I just kicked your butt in my class now I am going to run on the treadmill (true story) kind of a way). To sum up this non-sense review - I love it here and it is beautiful - with real people - (I did see one juice head - but that was 1 in a hundred normal people...) :)

I always enjoy coming to this YMCA ! Others in the area are not as nice. Everything is kept clean and there are plenty of treadmill, bikes weights etc. I never wait.

The only part of the Y I want to use is the pool, but they don't follow their own schedule for lap swimming. They take over lap swimming lanes for lessons, and they let kids do nothing but jump in the lap lanes at the deep end, and the lifeguards won't do anything about telling the kids to move. You have to try and shoo them out, but if they get rude and snotty, don't look for any help from the lifeguards. One guard told me "it's not my job". Today a group of teens kept throwing balls in a lap lane and swimming back and forth in it. Finally, I told one of them to get out of the lap lane and the obese girl said "make me".

A good selection of equipment, well maintained. Usually don't have to wait or not for very long.

We were not impressed with the gym set up at all and it is always packed. This place is not worth the money. I recently contacted the customer service department to cancel our family membership. I was told there is no way to cancel the membership other than physically going to the location to fill out the cancellation form. This is not a viable option for me at this time as I am traveling for work for the next few weeks and my husband is also working 12 hours a day and taking care of the kids while I am away. After I asked a few additional questions the customer service representative revealed that the site may be able to work with me in regard to the cancellation. I thought it was distasteful to have to draw that information from them instead of having them try to meet the customers needs at the beginning of the conversation. I was directed to the Andover YMCA and spoke with a lady named Sharon. As soon as she heard that I needed to cancel she was rude. I explained to her our situation and asked if my husband could cancel the membership as I am away from work. She said that they don't usually do that sort of thing but might be able to work something out. I told Sharon "I am surprised that the YMCA does not have some sort of system for its members to cancel other than having to physically be there as it is extremely inconvenient and that as a customer I would recommend not making this such a difficult process." As I was saying this she kept on interrupting me before I could finish my sentence and hung up the phone on me! So I called the YMCA customer service line a second time to register a complaint and was directed back to the person that would not help me in the first place. Thanks but no thanks YMCA.
