Nice stop in Osakis for lunch. We hit the end of the lunch rush. It was busy, which means it must be good, but not too busy to allow for one server to service all tables. She did a great job. My attraction to the place was breakfast all day. I opted for Texas French toast. Three generous slices of French toast for $6. Had to get a side of bacon as well. Way too many calories but my kind of lunch. Husband had the wrap special with fries. He also liked his choice. I would have loved to try the chicken noodle soup but too full to add another item. Loved the bar stools which were boat seats. Very clever and also clever to advertise on the seat backs. Nice creativity. Good stop.

Great family service and good home cooked food. I had a BLT that had lots of bacon in it and the service was fantastic. The prices were amazing compared to the Twin Cities and I was really appreciative of that fantastic service that we had.

This is a nice little local diner type breakfast joint, and it certainly did the job. No frills, not fancy, but absolutely a decent breakfast. That said, I didn't feel like it was anything spectacular either. Still, if you want a good home cooked breakfast, this will do just fine.I ordered the bacon and cheese omelet, which is what I call a "fold over omelet" -- as in it's a layer of egg that is filled and then folded over on itself. The omelets here are huge, much bigger than your average omelet. It was stuffed full of lots of fillings, and seemed like a very generous serving. I saw some of the other omelets that seemed absolutely massive because they had more fillings. Our friends ordered one and split it, and it was plenty of food. My husband got biscuits and gravy, which seemed decent. It did not come with eggs (something to know). I think the gravy may have been from a mix but it was pretty flavorful, judging from the bite or two I grabbed. My toast was a bit burnt and they only give you one thing of jelly, which seemed a bit stingy. But overall, totally decent breakfast at an absolutely reasonable price. A nice little spot for a quick bite if you are in town.

Stopped in today while we were out and about and this is our first time ever coming to this diner. It is a small hometown diner with a very comfy atmosphere. From the moment I walked in the door I felt very welcome by the staff and also the other customers. Everyone was very friendly and smiled. The waitress was kind and pleasant and our food was wonderful :) We will def stop again anytime we are in the area. Reminds me of a place that should be on diners drive in's and dives - a nice cozy place with wonderful food that you wouldn't expect when just driving past.

Found a gem of a breakfast spot today in the rural Minnesota whistle stop of Osakis (population 1,800). We rode our bicycles the 10 miles on the Rails-to-Trails bike path from Alexandria to Osakis and stumbled on AJ's Restaurant for breakfast before riding another 10 miles back to Alex. Jeannie, the owner of the restaurant, did a great job making us feel welcome while taking our orders and serving our meals. After sharing a warm caramel roll right out of the oven, we ordered three different 3-egg omelettes. They were all perfectly cooked and filled with delicious veggies and meats. AJ's surpassed our expectations with great food, great service and a down-home small-town hospitality. Gotta throw AJ's the fin.

Good omelettes! Real cheese, made from scratch goodness! We split a very generous order of hashbrowns, which were crispy on the outside and delicious in the middle!! Bright, cheerful place!

We had the pleasure of dinning at AJ's this morning and I have to say the Eggs Benedict was one of the best I have ever had! The Hollandaise sauce was fantastic!! I was also surprised & pleased with the amount of sauce that was provided. Normally your lucky if it covers your egg. My husband had Biscuits & Gravy and was also very satisfied with them. Again a generous amount of sauce was provided and gravy was packed with flavor. This is a definite must have on our list and looking forward to our next visit. Thanks for a great experience!
