Canvases and threads galore
Our Store Front
The yarn for this was a total impulse buy made on a day I was able to con my fiance into leaving me unattended in Three Kittens

My hobby in retirement. If I'm feeling blue, time for a new project. The employees who guide us in picking out the correct color threads are so helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Huge selection of threads, samples of finished projects galore, inspiration abounds! Visiting this little piece of heaven always makes me happy . . .

Great service. Wide thread selection and canvases. Can order if they don't have what you are looking for. Offers many classes too.

The one characteristic I found favorable was the lighting. The two-part store was light and airy the yarn for knitting was disappointing, but more so was the lack of interest by the staff. I was interested in purchasing some item, even an accessory, for the annual holiday gift exchange of my San Diego knitting group. As I browsed through the store, which is only open until 3 on Thursdays, I looked at skeins of yarn and the accessories. Not one staff member asked I she could interest me in yarn, books, accessories - and I was interested. But, if no one wants to trade for my money, I can spend my funds elsewhere. I am loyal to my Redondo beach yarn store ( also accessories and clothing, etc), but still seek out other shops when traveling. The Quarter Stitch in New Orleans earned my business 6 years ago, and I continue ordering yarn from them- they feed my appetite for Dream in Color Classy Cashmere. 3 Kittens did not and I spent over $30 inLyft fees to venture from the hotel in St Paul out to Mendota. All was not wasted, as I had an excellent lunch at The Copperfield across the street.

I finally made it to their new location and yes, it's still just as fabulous as the old spot, albeit somewhat shinier and more polished. If you appreciate the organization and cleanliness of Needlework Unlimited, you'll fall equally in love with the newness of Three Kittens version 2.0, I assure you. However, I am taking a star away (BOO!) because I have been in here, literally, umpteen trillion times since the new ownership went into effect a couple years back (or whenever that was) and have spoken with no less than seven different employees, none of whom have mentioned anything about their rewards program. Not once! I mean, come on, you'd think mentioning it would be a big selling point for establishing customer loyalty. Not like I'd ever stop coming here, but, you know, it's just the principle of the thing. So then I got to thinking, why is it that they don't advertise it near the register (I've never seen a sign) and why don't the employees talk about it when they're ringing you up (although hearing about the Harry Potter sock yarn was rather informative, thank you for telling me because I'm sure someone I know needs Ron Weasley yarn for Christmas). There's a part of me that thrives on conspiracy theories (embarrassing, I know) and while I was driving home, I came up with a few potential reasons why I've never heard anything mentioned or seen a thing about this supposed 3K Club anywhere except their website:--Maybe they get complaints because they actually charge you $9.95 to set up your membership and all the other yarn stores who have loyalty programs are free to sign up? --Are they selective about who they want to join their club so they only offer it to somebody who looks appealing to them for some predetermined but unknown reason?--It's such a fantastic rewards program that they're losing money on it and they don't want anybody else to sign up for it? Hm. It's worth a thought. Oh, and check me out! Speaking of conspiracy theories, I kept my whacked out opinions about Tom Petters and Southwest Airlines operating as a front for testing alient aircraft over the Mall of America all to myself!

3 Kittens and I have a love-hate relationship. And as of late it falls more on the hate side of the spectrum. They have a decent assortment of products featuring your Cascades, Noros, Malabrigos, et al. If you are a knitter or crocheter, you're basically covered. On the other side of the shop they have needlepoint accessories and items (which I'm not even going to pretend to have any knowledge about...and it appears to be a wide variety). What drives me a bit nutty is how they constantly push their loyalty program down your throat. It has annoyed me so much that I'd rather drive 20 minutes to go to Woodbury than to drive 5 minutes down 35E to stop here at 3 Kittens. 3 Kittens is by no means a bad yarn store. However, I'd rather pass on hearing the 5 minute used car salesman spiel for a yarn loyalty program.

It's been a number of years since I've been to the store last , they've moved to this nice new location, lovely! I was glad to see that they had such a good selection of yarn, patterns (many designed by the store personnel), and needle point. It is one of the country's gold standard yarn stores ( I would know). Highly recommend if you're in the area to go for a visit. They were lovely to my daughter and very helpful even at closing time.

I like this shop. The prices are probably among the highest of the shops I have visited, and their clearance section is pathetic. However, the ladies who work there are pleasant and they have a lovely selection if you have the budget. They had a sale last spring that was epic and I have yarn for many fun projects from that. For people who do tatting or crosstitch, they have a ton of materials for that, though not tatting shuttles or needles.

I'm from Illinois and this shop was highly recommended. I drove for over an hour to get there and it was worth the trip! Friendly staff and lots of unique items I've never seen before. The area is really nice too.

I stopped by here for the first time a week ago and was really inspired by the shop! The two women working both checked on me and I loved how they had the yarn organized by weight. I'll definitely be coming out of my way to shop here again!
