Zócalo - Folsom

Loved our first experience here! Upon entrance, we were originally told a 30 minute wait was what we would be waiting, which was expected for a Saturday night. We waited maybe 10 minutes, which our toddlers appreciated!We were sat and they brought waters and chips/dips for the table before our server Alex L made it over to greet us. Which he did right after the chips and waters were sat down. He asked us if we had been in before, had any allergies or things he should know before we ordered. Once ordered, our drinks were quickly delivered and then before we could even order anything for food the GM brought over a complimentary appetizer (chicken tinga tostadas were yum!) since we had never been in before. Our server was knowledgeable on the menu when we asked questions. We ordered our food, and before we could even ask he kindly split our kiddos food into two for them to share since we only needed one kid's menu item. The food arrived quickly and everything was correct! Steak tacos, Fresa Salad and Steak Quesadilla were all very good. We loved every item we ordered and one kiddo even cleared his entree (beans and rice were a huge serving too!). The service was super fast and impeccable in accommodation. We were pleasantly surprised with how attentive everyone was, not just our server. Highly recommend, especially if you want a somewhere they will sing happy birthday to you!

Just got home from here. Review is warranted. Parking was packed and the wait was 45 minutes. We opted to wait around. Ended up being less than that as a few large parties left and opened up some tables perhaps.When a table was ready, we kindly asked for a high-chair. The demeanor of the hostess was quite off-putting after that request. Is this not a family-friendly establishment?We got seated. The high-chair didn't come. We had to flag down a completely different server for one. They then brought over a basket of chips with a bean dip and salsa. Ordered a couple of beverages. One Mango Fresco margarita with a chamoy and Tajin rim and one Paisa Sour. Both beverages had nice pours.We ordered food. I got the 2 enchiladas with the mole and green sauce. The mole is labeled as "Michelin-guide recognized" on the menu. This had to be the blandest mole I've had. The consistency was also very runny. The green sauce enchilada that I ordered? No idea as they gave me red. And the red was whatever in flavor. The chicken inside was dry as well.Similar response to the other food orders. The 3-taco plate, the tortilla was just falling apart. The green rice and beans as sides? Took one bite and left the entirety of that separate plate completely alone. No flavor, not good.The service was very odd. Our server was dry and off-putting. Almost as if she did not seem to enjoy serving us up until the check was to be ran. Disliked their job? Who knows. Disliked us as a table? Maybe because that demeanor was highly different (open and cheerful) with the other tables next to us.Why the two stars? One for the bean dip and salsa that came with the chips. Food is mediocre. Service is the imaginary notch below that.

We frequently dine here and it never disappoints but yesterday was fantastic. We arrived for Brunch shortly after they opened and just minutes ahead of the heavy rain. We were very warmly greeted and quickly seated by a charming hostess. Chips, salsa and yummy hot puréed black bean dip was immediately served by a cheerful young man. Seconds later, Jennifer, our fantastic server arrived. She remembered us and asked about our recent trip to Tennessee. Jennifer was fantastic throughout the entire meal as was the nice kitchen lady that delivered our food. She was very thoughtful including a spoon for my entree (I usually have to ask for one), also bringing additional fresh tortillas.Flautas, Cochina Pibil and Tacos Cazuela were all piping hot and delicious!Big kudos to Jennifer for making us feel like family and our meal special!

Brought my fiancé here for the first time and he enjoyed everything so much. I told him about how good the Cilantro Lime Rice is and he couldn't stop raving about it. The flautas were good, crunchy tortillas and the potatoes were cooked perfectly. He loved the Zoca Quesadilla, by far the best one he's had. I got 2 steak tacos and the steak was tender and delicious. The guava margaritas were tasty and refreshing. I forgot the name of the manager/supervisor that was floating the dining room, he was awesome checking in on us. My fiancé is looking forward to coming back again.

Modern with a dash of upscale, Mexican comfort food! Big portions, big flavors and the house tortillas are the best! They're half corn and half flour tortillas. We've had about half of the menu and have not been disappointed.The service here is great, we always hope to get Joyce as our server, she provides A1 service!Carnitas are my go to but since my wife got that plate, I went with the COCHINITA PIBIL, and it's my new go to! Both plates came with their green cilantro lime rice and black beans. I doubt you'll be disappointed with anything on the menu.

This was one of the worst restaurant experiences Ive had. Service was extremely terrible from start to finish. All the employees we interacted with treated my party and I like they didnt want us there. Food was mediocre at best for a Michelin Guide recognized restaurant. The best thing here you can get here is the unlimited chips and salsa.

FYI, Happy hour now ends at 5pm, not 6pm (don't think they have it on weekends anymore?) I ordered from the regular menu anyhow, but just a FYI for those that care!I was bummed that I put down a detailed note on our reservation that it was my Mom's 82nd birthday and yet, they didn't offer her anything (even heard them sing 2 happy Birthday serendes around us :-) I got the 2 Americano taco platter $20 whch came with clinantro rice and black beans. It was pretty good! The chicken is shredded and very flavorful. The chips and salsa is amazing and very filling. My mom got the carnitas tacos and she enjoyed those as well.

Zocalo's food is outstanding, I've been countless times to the UV location. The service at the Folsom location on a Sunday at noon was nothing short of disappointing. It was incredibly slow and just not good. Our waitress seemed to check every table except ours, didn't take our orders for a good 20 minutes even though we kept making eye contact with her to order. She never refilled our chips even though we asked, and it took so long just to get the bill to leave. This is definitely not typical for the Zocalo chain.

Beauty location and fantastic food! We went in a Thursday night and it was busy, but the food was worth the wait. I had the pepita salad either grilled shrimp - yum!! Hunny and my FIL got the arrancherra platter, they said it was fantástico. My MIL had the burrito bowl and raved. The chicken tinga mini tostadas were also very good. The bartender/manager made the best cocktails and was so friendly! Service was a bit slow with our server, he kept forgetting things, but he was nice. We bought a gift card for my in laws and we'd also return!

I tried this location for lunch with a colleague and we both enjoyed it very much! The service was very friendly and helpful, the food delicious, well presented and made with good quality ingredients and flavors. The restaurant decor and space is very comfortable, well decorated and welcoming. I will be visiting again when back in town.
