I saw this place on tik tok and was more than satisfied. The experience itself was so fun being able to pick what veggies, fishballs, noodles and meat/fish you wanted into your pot. They offer 5 different types of soup base including one spicy dry option if you're not feeling soup that day. My favorites are the tom yam and the classic bone broth. The pricing is very reasonable and I typically spend around $20 on my bowl and have leftovers every time. So be careful and try not get carried away, because it doesn't seem like a lot until it comes out cooked haha. The restaurant is usually busy but not packed when I've been but the service is very quick and your soup comes out very fast! The restaurant is big and random but.. the seats are very comfortable lol. Try this place out if you're a soup lover like me!

We went on a rainy Sunday afternoon around 4 PM. It was not as busy maybe because of the weather. We were seated right away. You grab a bowl and your own tongs. You put all the ingredients you want and they weight it at the end by the pound. I got the mild malatang. It was flavorful and tasty. I enjoyed the experience as it was my first time at a place like this. It's a good option if you can't as much as a AYCE Hot Pot. You save a bit more money eating here than AYCE. Total $49 for 2 bowls before tips. Only my bowl is shown.

The flavor of the soup, topping selection, and price was pretty good, but the customer service was severely lacking. I'm not sure if they were understaffed but it took forever for them to come weigh our food and ring us up and the lady working there was just ignoring us standing there. I think their sauce bar was also mislabeled and they had two vinegars instead of one vinegar and one soy sauce. Other than that, our food came out pretty fast once they started cooking it and they allow you to take home leftovers. Self-seating but a lot of the tables were kind of dirty. Overall, a decent option considering it's the only malatang place nearby but I've definitely had better.

This place was okay. My friend and I got the mushroom broth was pretty watery but I friend had been here before and they said it's usually pretty good. It was very fairly priced and there was a lot of options to choose from! The food came out pretty fast and there was a good selection of sauces at the sauce bar. I also really liked the interior of the restaurant. I would come here again and try a new broth

This was my first intro to malatang, and I'm hooked! It was so comforting and filling without weighing me down or feeling gross after. I came in with family for a weekday lunch, and it was pretty empty. The women working there were very friendly and warm, and the ingredients got cooked quickly. The setup works where you choose your dry ingredients first (protein, veggies, noodles), it gets weighed and priced and then cooked in your choice of broth. My aunt and uncle's bowls weighed in at 1.11 and 1.18lbs for 15$ and 16$. My eyes were way bigger than my stomach, and mine weighed in at 1.87lbs for 26$. It's such a treat to try a bunch of different things. My favorites were the tendon, tripe, black fungus and fish cakes - and the mushroom broth was so flavorful. Looking forward to going back when I'm in Sac again and finding the nearest Zhangliang to me!

I honestly was very excited to try this place out when I first heard of this place's concept. I obsessed with hot pot so I was very pleased to be able to pick all my toppings since I'm quite picky. I loaded up my bowl and tried to be wary about how much I put in since it is pay per weight. I came out to about $20 and I picked the popular main soup flavor. It was spicy! And I was quite full too because I put so many toppings lol. The service was decent, the standard for Asian establishments. No greetings or explanation when we first entered. Food was cooked quite quickly though. No water refills, which was kinda of needed a for the spice lol. May come again

I'm so glad they have this in Sacramento! The process was really easy, you grab what you want in a big bowl and you tell the worker what spice level and soup you want and sit down. They bring it out all cooked for you! There's a sauce station for you to make your own sauce too! Parking is tight though since it's in a crowded shopping center

I will be back! The Classical Bone Soup hit the spot. It was rich and flavorful. It was my first time here, so of course I had to choose their most popular broth and it didn't disappoint. I was concerned about the price of my bowl since I thought I got a lot, turns out it was $13 and I didn't finish all of it. I did request for it to be extra spicy and it was quite spicy. I loved their wide selection and would definitely be back.

UPDATE: in the few months that they've been open, they've continued to add new stuff, which I really appreciate! They have more stuff every time I come. Service is still great too. I just wish they would label everything, as only a few things here and there are labeled. I've been wanting to go to the Bay Area location, but I'm never in that part of the bay so I was super excited to see this place pop up when I was searching for new places on Yelp. I've been to Tang Bar, which is similar. Compared to that, it's cheaper (I think that was more like $14.99/lb?) but a lot less selection (like half the amount of options). Meat is just pork, lamb, and beef (tasted low quality to me - it was dry and tough). They didn't even have fresh tofu :(. But, they did have a sauce bar - which is needed because the broth isn't that flavorful (pretty much just medium spicy). It would be helpful if they labeled all the items, not just a few (some of the meat and sauces). You go in and add what you want to the bowl. Then you select your base (4 soup options and 1 dry option), weigh it, and pay. After that you seat yourself and they bring it out to you. Remember your soup base because that's how they present it to you..although, I wish they would find a way to label them or something because both me and my partner got the Classical bone soup and they only way we could tell it apart was the ingredients we got. So, if you get similar stuff in your soup, it will be really hard to tell who's is who's. Also wanted to note that they can't really adjust spiciness (I asked), but luckily it's not too spicy - it's like a mild to medium spicy. Service was good. Plenty of workers to help out. They were friendly and answered my various questions. They came around and asked if we needed water refills. Hopefully it stays this good and it's not just because it's a new place. Took the place of Szechuan Spicy House, on the end/corner nearest the street/entrance to the SF Supermarket parking lot. I think they said capacity is like 90 people? Some booth seating, mostly regular table seating. In the main seating area, it looks like tables can be pushed together for larger parties. I'm glad to have this option come to sac! Unfortunately, I would still rather go to Tasty Pot (on the other side of the building) because the flavor is better imo. If they could just improve the soup bases, it would amazing! But the sauce bar makes up for it.

My first experience here will be far from my last. Fresh and delicious ingredients of all kind, rich broths, and a phenomenal array of spices and flavors to make it your own! Highly recommend!
