Yolanda's Tamales Factory

Yolanda is very sweet and attentive, and her tamales are pretty good. A caveat, both my husband and I are Mexican and in Mexico, like most parts of the world, every region/state has different cultural norms (i.e., food). Frankly, we haven't been able to find Mexican food like we're used to in Sacramento but Yolanda's came close. I did have difficulty finding the place as it's tucked away in an industrial-like area off of Florin and it was already dark outside. The place is pretty small with a few tables for onsite dining.Unless we find something spot on to what we're used to, we will frequent Yolanda's for takeout,

I've been buying tamales from Yolanda since the very beginning, back when she had just a small stand in downtown Sacramento at the farmers market. I was so excited to see her grow into a brick-and-mortar spot and food trucks, and I kept supporting her even when the tamales started to get a little dry, hoping things would get better.But after my last order, I just can't justify it anymore. The chicken tamales were so dry--barely any shredded chicken inside, just a ton of crumbly masa. In one tamale, the chicken wasn't even shredded; it was just a big, flavorless chunk.I don't know if expanding the business has stretched things too thin, but the quality just isn't there anymore. It's disappointing because I really wanted to keep supporting her, but at this point, I'm done.

A small little mom and pop shop located near florin and Franklin. It's really in the hood, but when you come in the place is nice and cozy and has a homey feel. The order takes who I assume is also the owner was very kind and sweet. We ordered a #1 with the pork tamale and #2 with pork tamale and asada taco. Everything was good, I was a tad disappointed they didn't have any fresh Agua Frescas but understandable since it looked slow. The tamales are huge. It was a little too dry for my liking but I smothered it in sauce and it was fine. Flavor was good though. Maybe I came on an off day, but I'll come back to try if anything.

So the yelp says it's a food truck but there is a physical "restaurant" space here with tables. It's not fancy at all and almost felt a little inhospitable except for the wonderful woman taking our order. I would have stayed just for the cariño that was palpable from her. We took it to go. Came in on a Sunday around 3pm. No one was there but us. We ordered 3 a la carte tamales - two cheese/jalapeño and one pork. The guys got a two taco (carne asada) plate and one tamal (pork) /one taco (al pastor) plate. The masa on the tamales was good flavor and the pork was good masa to meat ratio. The cheese one was nice and spicy. But they seemed a little dry. Granted I'm not sure they were made that morning but they pulled straight from a pot. so for reheated tamales they were good. I would like to know what day they are fresh so I can taste them HOT out of the pot. If I saw the food truck out and about I would order them again for sure because the flavor was good. The plates came with a little cup of green salsa and that was YUMMY!!! The meats on the tacos was good and everyone loved the beans/ rice. The bathroom was CLEAN!!! So you know I like a clean bathroom- makes me think that kitchen is clean too! And the owners must take pride in their business when the bathroom isn't forgotten. Thanks Yolanda!

So good! I am from San Jose and let me tell you we have some of the best tamales. I've been trying to find a good tamale place out where I live(past auburn) and no luck! Finally I ordered a Christmas tamale pack from here! Omgggg!!! So delicious! Cheese and jalapeño ones!!! Fire!!!! Will definitely buy again!!!

I purchased the one tamale combo at a pop up event in Elk grove.The rice tasted like it wasn't cooked and lacked in flavor. The refried beans also lacked in flavor. The tamale was also disappointing. The chicken was a bit dry and there was way too much masa with no flavor.What happened to the authentic mexican food made with love?

First time trying out the tamales, there was a lot of meat. Months passed, I noticed there are more masa now than the meat. Bought tamales during the farmers market downtown on Capitol Mall. They are always nice. Ambiance is farmer's market.

Any event with Yolanda is going to be great. The food is so delicious, but just as important, they really know food safety.

Arrived to their taco stand outside of their restaurant that was open from 6-11pm. Greeted right away by the cook. Wait was short as there was other people ahead of me. Ordered 9 tacos (Asada and QuesaBirria) and 3 tamales to go. Cooked to order. Tacos were fresh and great tasting. They had all the toppings available for the tacos. They sure are not greedy with the meat in the tacos. Each taco had a great amount of meat which was definitely worth the 25 min drive to their location from my home. As I was putting toppings on my tacos, Andy the cook started conversation asking where we came from and then offered us an horchata. My daughter sure loved the horchata. The food was definitely worth going back for more. A+ on the tacos and tamales were also great! Oh and did I mention I also got a Michelada, very yummy and the mix was perfect. Made me want to go back for another but we were already home. So we will definitely go back on another weekend. This family owned local business is worth the drive and everyone who helped which I assume were family all were very helpful and nice. Good Job on them Tacos Yolanda's!!

Ok yallllllll, these are some bomb a** tamales. My friend told me to come here and I'll say it is not in the best area but the area is completely fine during the day lol. At first, I didn't think there was an inside because of how the location looks but you just have to go through a gate and around their food truck and the entrance is right there. It is small inside but they do have chairs and tables, the staff didn't speak much English and I don't speak much Spanish but we made it work. I ordered a yo tamales with carnitas and the "yo" part means it is topped with cheese, sour cream, salsa, and pico (definitely recommend the loaded option). I also ordered some tacos but I was so full from that one tamale that I ended up giving them away (and was kinda sad about that because they looked bomb af). My friend had a chicken yo tamale and ordered a veggie and cheese w/chili one for later. If you can't catch their food truck, I would highly recommend making the drive to their location and picking up a dozen of those tamales.
