Yianni's Bar & Grill

This is a dumpy, very outdated bar with a few restaurant tables. There is no ambiance. It's very small. The service is very lacking. We waited quite a while to order. The menu is very limited but there were quite a few specials. The flaming cheese dip smokes the whole restaurant out. As soon as it seemed to clear another order would come out and smoke the place out again. The dolmas come piping hot, which is strange to me. Ordered the large Greek salad that is ridiculously small. The salad was good with heirloom tomatoes but was too expensive for the size. It was considered the large salad but really an appetizer size. The prices are way too high for what you get.

The food here is amazing! I haven't had anything I didn't like. They always have a specials board that changes all the time. The Greek Mixed Grill is my go-to. The lamb chops are to die for. And the best thing of all is the Baklava Ice Cream. Don't leave without trying it.Small place with a large bar and it can get a bit loud, but I like the relaxed atmosphere.

I second the review of, this place is dumpy. Dirty and unsanitary. If that doesn't scare you off, the poor customer service will. There are many wonderful Greek restaurants in Sacramento, this isn't one of them.

I have lived down the street from this place for about 20 years. I am embarrassed to say I just came in last night! Because wow have I been missing out!!! You can tell a lot of regulars and locals come in. Which I love the vibe of being comfortable with friends so long as I am welcomed! The staff was super inviting and quickly made us feel like we were one of them. We started with clam chowder which was so full of flavor more than any other it wasn't just plain cream with clams it was seasoned perfectly. Then we had a small Greek salad which has the freshest ingredients and something I would get every time. Then came saganaki which is flaming cheese!! I mean omg it came out in flames so presentation was impressive. Not to be out done by the taste! It was cheesy but lemony and served with fresh pita! So good. Then we had the lamb chops with steak fries!! Freakin amazing!! A flavor explosion!! Cooked to perfection. We devoured it. Then we did a ribeye steak with veggies topped with blue cheese! Omg it was divine!! Also it was ordered medium rare and cooked exactly so! I love when chefs get it right the first time. For desert we had baklava ice cream!! Do I need to say more?!! Baklava Ice Cream! lol we loved itFor drinks we had delicious lemon drops and cosmos!! So tasty we kept them coming! The waitress and bartender both tended to us and were awesome. The bartender had such a good energy and joked around with us.

So this was an interesting visit. We had stopped by on a Wednesday and had a couple beers, didn't realize it was a full restaurant, we thought it was just a bar from the outside. We were told about the live belly dancing they have on Fridays and thought, why not. We invited another couple to go with us. They got there around 6 and we didn't get there until about 6:30. They mentioned they ordered a couple drinks after waiting for about 10 minutes with no one checking on them. We all had drinks, and meals. We told our waiter that we wanted to split the check and he said no worries, but never wrote anything down. We were there for a total of about 2 hours and the waiting around was the worst part. They only had one waitress and a bartender working both bar and tables. Kind of a nightmare on a night they are trying to promote. Worst part of the night, we get done eating and receive our checks. He split them right down the middle even though we didn't order 4 of the things on our check. I'm not going to make a scene, who cares. We go to pay our checks and due to the service being so bad, the other couple did not tip nicely. After about 8 minutes of sitting at our table, we walked up to the bar to pay since no one came to our table for our check, the waiter said "$20 tip on a $100 tab, fuck that shit!". He was speaking about the couple we came with. For the amount of waiting we did, not having our check split correctly, he should be thankful he got a tip at all!! Not ok! The food was delicious so it's kind of a shame that we heard him say that, because we most likely won't be back!

Finally checked out Yianni's this week for dinner and what a homey welcoming little place! It is definitely a place where you can find all the locals, but it's part of the charm! We were welcomed by a very friendly server/hostess that made us feel right at home. We ordered one of the specials as an appetizer - Grilled Halloumi Caprese and for our entrees we ordered the Gyro Sandwich, Chicken Souvlaki and the Mizithra Cheese and Brown Butter Noodles. Everything was cooked well and had great flavor - my daughter devoured the noodles! I loved the charbroiled flavor on the chicken souvlaki and the homemade tzatziki sauce on the gyro!It was definitely some of the best Greek food I've had in town and rivals some of the other places we've tried. We'll be back for sure next time we're in the area!Check out Yianni's!

First time at Yianni's. Chicken Marsala w/ Mizithra pasta is fantastic! Chicken Slouvlaki is excellent as well. The Fix lager was delicious. Highly recommended. Service was excellent even as the dining room got busy. Old school ambiance that I love. Baklava for desert to finish it off. I will be back to explore the menu. Loved my dining experience at Yianni's!

Always a fun time with good food and entertainment and probably the best bartender in town.

Stopped in to grab some food to go, first time in. People were nice, place is ok. Its a neighborhood place. Ordered lamb shank, some soup and hummus. Had a drink while i waited. Bill was 110 with tip. Way overpriced. Food was good but not that good. Will not go back Would not recommend to friends

Food is excellent and consistently on point. Great flavors and always exciting specials on the board. Staff is super friendly and if you have an opportunity to hang at the bar, Ryan (Rhino) will keep you laughing and your glass full. Very small so make reservations!
