This is a Loverly small theater in the MidTown area. A short stroll away from the Lavender Heights, with Restaurants and Clubs. If you get a chance to see something here make an evening of it. I got to see a comedian that I love that was back in town for a short visit.

William J. Geery Theatre is a surprising find in downtown Sacramento. Tucked into the sub-first floor of a P Street Victorian, it seats four dozen lucky audience members who might be enjoying a private recital, school play or other nano-sized local performance. The seats are surprisingly comfortable and no matter where you sit, you'll get an intimate, front-row quality view.Hopefully you'll see something memorable here soon!

Oh the Geery. This place is a Sacramento theater classic. Ask anyone involved in the theater community and they'll have something to say about the Geery. This house, many years ago, was transformed into a music conservatory with a theater on ground floor. This theater seats (maybe) 50 people, with chairs hugging the person next to you. You become fast friends with the people around you due to the intimate space, so make sure you shower/brush your teeth before going. The best thing about this space is that it houses multiple theater companies. There's usually always a play/show happening here, ranging from the weirdest of weird to the most classic. So you're never quite sure what you're going to get here, which is part of the charm of the space. It opens it doors to theater company orphans who need a place to call home for 4 weeks (or more). No seat is a bad seat, considering the space. The booth and lighting here are basic, along with the stage as well. It provides the basic needs to any company, which makes the space affordable for most to rent. If you're looking for something to do on the weekend, and want to visit a great space as well, check the Geery's website for detail on shows!

The Geery in Sacramento is a great little, local theatre. The theatre space is a tiny proscenium and 49 seat house in the basement of a Queen-Anne Cottage Victorian circa 1896. The theatre was created in the space in 1949.Over the past 5 years or so, the Geery has been home a number of great local productions, from the "I Can't Believe It's Not Comedy" troupe, to a locally written and produced "Sci-Fi Hotel", to the 3-years and running production of the Vagina Monologues. The theatre itself is cozy, and intimate... a small house with no obstructed views, and each audience member is close enough to see the actors sweat. So far, the theatre has made good choices of shows, and its affordable.Minus one star only because of the owner's dogs occasionally get let out somewhere in the back, and they can bark through the shows. (But that's rarely happened.)The house is also home to the Pease conservatory of music upstairs, and holds music lessons of all instruments, including voice. Great downtown location, beautiful building, and its nice to have local theatre.

Have driven by this theater for years & have always want to check it out. This afternoon we did. Got a great price on Groupon but you really don't need to because the prices are very reasonable. I took my grandaughter saw the "Parameters" an improv. The theater is small, but very charming & cozy. As other reviewers have mentioned there is not one bad seat. The play was awesome. So glad we found this gem. Shall definity be back.
