Not sure if there's a program to lose weight in these classes because I have seen some very heavy people throughout the years.

Our 9yo son has been participating in introductory classes for the past few months and the experience (while early on) has been terrific. The instructors are incredibly patient and kind even with children (like ours) that can be disruptive or have a hard time following a lesson. Master Bruce focuses positive attention on kids that need some extra help with the instructions and uses those moments to teach respect without using guilt or shame. I am singularly impressed with Kuk Sool Won and more importantly our son is building his self confidence.

So pleased with our experience at Kuk Sool Won. We joined while they were offering daily Zoom and weekend distanced in-person class offerings and were instantly welcomed to the Kuk Sool Won family. Teacher Tiffany is just amazing, and the whole teaching staff is great with the kids and they are able to get the class to listen and focus but still have fun. My son absolutely loved punching the bags and learning the various combinations. He feels comfortable and confident, the teachers are reassuring and go out of their way to encourage him, I can't say enough about KSW!

Last night I found something new in myself. A new calm that I didn't realize I'd acquired. While playing softball I encountered a poorly made call by the umpire, against me. I simply walked off the field and shrugged my shoulders. No bad attitude, no rude remark, just a shrug and I moved on. However, I had to remind my team to do the same, despite the fact that the call was made against me. I have become a much calmer person. I choose to have fun on the sports field regardless of how terrible I'm doing. I know I will get better if I keep going. I'd like to credit Kuk Sool Won with this as well as Justin Bunn. I am forever learning. Each person at kuk sool is so encouraging, and patient. The environment there is inspiring.#kuksoolstrong

This school costs $165/month, more if your child needs private instruction, which the woman refused to tell me until after she met my son. I had first called, and then went to talk to her in person, because I wanted to find out approximately how much the program costs so that I wouldn't be getting my son into something I couldn't afford. She kept saying that she could not tell me how much it cost until after she assessed my son and found out what class would suit him best. I said I needed at least a ball park figure - she said classes ran between 8 and 10 dollars per session. So, I estimated that two classes a week would cost between 64 and 80 dollars per month. I gave up our gym membership to send my son to martial arts training instead. We went to the assessment appointment, where she told my son all the rules of the dojang, had him practicing kicks and punches and grab releases and some forms, had us go over the class schedule... got us both quite excited about the school... then she pulls out a binder and is flipping through the printed material and on the third page the price shows. $165/month. I told her that was over twice what she had led me to believe and that I couldn't possibly afford that. She acted all surprised. Said again that she couldn't possibly have told me how much it would cost until she met my son. I said "It's printed right there - you could have told me that." She said again "No, I couldn't tell you how much it cost until I decided what class he'd be in." The price is printed RIGHT THERE. "Well, this isn't our only program - there are less expensive ones." Oh, there are less expensive ones? "Yes, but those are for younger children." I TOLD YOU HE WAS EIGHT. Then she gave me a wide-eyed innocent "I've worked here for years and no one has ever been upset by this," and a condescending "I apologize that this has upset you, it's never been a problem for anyone before." These are techniques one might expect from a sleazy car salesman - I won't tolerate them. I will not pay money to send my son to supposedly build character in a school run by deceitful people. I can say nothing about the instructors or the martial arts class experience, only that if they dropped the price to ten dollars a month right now, I would still walk away. You do not sit there and lie to my face and get my money, and how dare you use my son as a pawn in your attempt to emotionally manipulate me.

Our daughter has been participating in martial arts classes at Vitality Martial Arts for the past 1 1/2 years and truly enjoys it. I like that the instructors take the time to assess each child and find the best fit for the class the child will be attending. They are knowledgeable, patient, kind and have a solid understanding of child development, which is a big plus in this setting. This knowledge allows for children of various temperaments and abilities to thrive and gain beneficial life skills. Our daughter shows improvement in the following areas of skills - social/emotional, cognition, fine motor, gross motor, and language. She has had a lot of exposure working as a team with the other children and her focus and attention span have also improved. As a bonus, she has met some really great friends, which I appreciate. I am grateful for the entire experience that is Vitality Martial Arts!

Justin Bunn is an excellent Martial Artist & Instructor. He has over 30 year experience & he taught me when he was a Teenager! Mr. Bunn is very patient & has experience teaching those with disabilities, as well. I highly recommend him, if you are in or near the Woodland area.

My son and I both started at Kuk Sool Won of Woodland two months ago, and we both love it. The instructors are wonderful, and the whole community there is amazingly supportive. It's really like a family. Walking in the door at the dojang has become one of my favorite parts of the day, and my son, who at age 12 has never been interested in sports, is always excited to be there. I feel like I'm growing and getting stronger, and as a parent, I especially appreciate the large number of classes open to multiple age levels.

Today, I had my son's 10th bday party at Kuk Sool and it was our first time there, along with all our the guests. The kids were so excited for this bday party. The Instructors were awesome with all the kids. They taught them how to break a board at the end of class and they were ALL so excited. Also, my son got his board signed by all his guests before he broke his. We did pizza and cake. It was a great bday party. Would recommend this place to others, for sure. I wish I knew they did bday parties before.
