I've spent several hundred dollars at Vault Salon and Spa over the past year on cuts, trims, colors, highlights, and balayages. While the results have been decent and the staff is friendly, the business model just doesn't work for me personally. I had many appointments to gage whether issues I noticed were a one-off situation or standard business practice. They were indeed standard practice.Atmosphere and Customer Service:The salon itself is relaxing and welcoming, and the staff is polite and professional. The store manager has always been courteous and willing to resolve issues when needed. I appreciate that level of care and attention, but unfortunately, the system they use still doesn't fit my expectations.Styling and Services:I booked a Level 9 stylist for their experience and skill, and while the results have been good, the overbooking practices are frustrating. I was informed on my first visit (after I asked) that assistants occasionally help during appointments, which I initially thought was reasonable.However, I didn't realize it would be as frequent as it was. In a lot of cases, I spent more time with an assistant than with the Level 9 stylist I specifically booked and paid for. While I understand the efficiency of having assistants handle smaller tasks, I didn't expect them to handle such a large portion of the appointment.Hourly Pricing and Wait Times:Because most services are charged hourly, I was paying for every minute, even when I was waiting at the bowl or sitting in the chair while the stylist worked on other clients (sometimes even when there were assistants, but sometimes not) I completely understand that some overlapping appointments are part of the process, especially during treatment/color processing times, but I felt like I was paying top dollar for downtime rather than active service.Assistants and Value for Price:The assistants are newly licensed and gaining experience, so they're knowledgeable, but if a lot of the service is going to be done by them, I'd rather pay a lower rate than the premium Level 9 pricing I was charged.Pricing and Tips:I typically tip generously, averaging 20-30%, based on the total cost, which is tied to the stylist's level. When most of my service is handled by an assistant, it feels like the pricing doesn't match the value I'm getting, and that can be disappointing.Overall Experience:While Vault Salon and Spa has a welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff, and a professional setup, the overbooking structure and reliance on assistants don't work for my expectations of quality service.I appreciate the upfront explanation about assistants occasionally helping, but I wish I had understood how frequently that would actually happen before committing to higher-tier pricing.If you're okay with paying hourly rates that include wait times and assistant work, this might be a great place for you. But if you prefer focused, one-on-one attention with the stylist you're paying for, I'd suggest clarifying the process upfront or considering other options that better align with your needs and expectations.

I moved back to Sacramento over a year ago and have been trying to find that perfect salon for me. Once I found the best stylist, I'm loyal. I am very low maintenance when it comes to my hair so I just wanted someone that listen to what I wanted and can recommend me on different devices that will make my hair healthy. Other places I have been interested in going to were hard to reach or not as much availability. So... finding a salon where their booking is super easy and there are plenty of stylists available within the week was extremely important to me since I never really know what my schedule looks like until a few days before I decide to book. This salon makes it super easy to do so. Luckily I also moved into the area a few months ago so Vault was one of the few choices that caught my eye. I originally booked with Meghan (level 2 stylist) and I was looking forward to an appt with her. She called me around 2:30p asking if she could reschedule my 4p to 7p which was fine with me. I just wanted me haircut to be fresh for my new drivers license lol I went to my appt and was greeted by Hannah (Level 1 stylist) who informed me that Meghan was not feeling well and went home. She ended up cutting my hair and recommending a moisture hair mask which she treated me with. Hannah is amazing and super sweet. I'm normally an introverted awkward person but she made me comfortable and I was gabbing away and laughing with her. I was thinking I was going to be there for an hour but it went by pretty fast. I don't think you can go wrong with any stylist here. I will be back here again for a trim with Hannah. Thank you for the best self care day I needed badly. My hair feels amazing. Will be back to buy some of the hair products that works wonders.

I had been using black box dye for over a year, and then came here and asked for my hair to be lightened. I was told that it wasn't sure what color I would get, and the stylist got me to a nice copper color. It was awesome, but ridiculously expensive. I then came back (expecting it to cost less, because I wasn't buying their shampoo & other hair products this time) and got my hair lightened to a somewhat platinum blonde. The stylist was rough with my hair, pulling and tugging, and did not give me a cohesive color. The top of my head had a blue/green hint to it, and my length was platinum, with some white streaks mixed in. That is not at all what I wanted. My hair is also extremely damaged and breaking off. It feels like wet spaghetti and is very stretchy and stringy when wet. Disappointed and never coming back.

Please please read reviews before you come here or anywhere else. I really wish I would have & I might not be in this predicament. I recently came here to & had an appointment with Vanessa, It was my first hair cut I have gotten in over 10 years so you can imagine i was very nervous. I asked for lots of long layers , face framing curtain bangs & showed her a few reference photos. I walked in very excited but to only leave with it totally botched n ruined.. I tried to go back in , rosemary the owner tried to do what she could to salvage my beautiful hair but unfortunately with what vanessa messed up it was not fixable. I cannot wear my long hair down anymore because my front face framing pieces/ curtains bangs are more of a bob , very choppy & not blended. Whether she didn't know how to do the cut or work with my long thick hair, she should have been up front about that from the beginning. If I could leave zero, I would. I've waited to leave this review in hopes that I would grow to like my hair. It has been 3 months and I don't like my hair any better than the day it was done. This place was absolutely horrible. I paid $600 for my hairdresser to butcher my hair in this "upscale" salon. I regret so much that my normal hair lady did not have availability when I needed it. I have dark hair and normally get blonde balayage. I showed my stylist a picture and ended up with full highlights. I can deal with that but my hair looked nothing like the picture. My only request was that my hair not end up orange. I left the salon with half of my hair orange and the other half more closely resembling blonde. She rushed my hair and did not leave the foils on for the equal amount of time on the left side of my head. She also to not taper at the root but rather left a harsh line between my natural color and the blonde. This after ensuring I booked a long time slot because I know my hair is long. This after being told by my stylist that she was a "blonde specialist." This after opting for a higher level stylist so I got someone with experience to decrease the likelihood of a mishap. This is the worst my hair has been since my mom chopped it all off in second grade. The product they use is horrendous. No matter how many fancy conditioners I use, my hair is a tangled, ratted mess. Perhaps it's a strategy to force people to use their specific shampoo and conditioner to manage their product they use to blonde. I can't remember what the stylist said it was but I don't ever want it in my hair again. I can't get my hair soft at all. This has never happened to me before. I set up a fix almost immediately but didn't go out of fear. I don't want them to touch my hair again. I wish I could undo this whole mess and get my hair stripped without causing even more damage. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE.

I've been a client of Vault Salon since August after making a pretty big change. My two (and ongoing) experiences have been nothing short of amazing - so much so, that appointments are now something I look forward to most every month. :) The facility and the tools they use have always been clean and well-maintained. Brandon is extremely thorough with the details, attentive to my concerns, and provides realistic expectations for any future coloring plans while prioritizing my hair's integrity. He frequently checks in throughout an appointment to ensure satisfaction, though not overbearingly so (which I sincerely appreciate as someone who isn't the most talkative). Notably, he's gone above and beyond generously sharing styling demonstrations for my [otherwise unruly] hair. Vault Salon also has a vast selection of products that complement my at-home routine well. I particularly like ILES FORMULA's Curl Revive Spray and Mask, which I hadn't heard about prior and now love.Thank you so much Brandon and Vault Salon for always making me feel refreshed and welcome!

Went to get a haircut on Thursday . The stylist was nice ; but my hair is so choppy it looks horrible . The layers are uneven and I have big event on Wednesday to go too.. very disappointed and unsatisfied with my service . I have long hair and it looks like she cut in into a bob on one of my layers ! I never had my hair look this choppy ever ! My friends even said what happened to your hair! I have a big event that I have do a presentation this Wednesday and now idk what to do with this hair ; it's so choppy and looks like a butcher cut my hair .

I went in for a haircut and I was assigned to Mia, I showed her inspo pictures and she did a wonderful job of giving me exactly what I wanted. When I got to the register, she told me that my total was going to be 65 dollars. When I checked my receipt, I was charged 19 dollars for the tip so my total ended up being 84 dollars. I'm upset that she didn't inform meand that I wasn't aware of this charge.
