THE LADY WITH BAD ATTITUDE
Al pastor burrito I ordered. More like a tortilla with little meat. They forgot everything that makes a burrito a burrito
Small nachos with carnitas
My burrito. They forgot to add beans, rice, everything that makes a burrito. Was sad to open this on the 11 hr plane ride

A few months ago, I had weekday lunch at Vallejo's. It's a family owned and operated restaurant serving up authentic Mexican food. They are located in the corner of 4th and S Street in downtown Sacramento. The one item lunch special is $8.50, two $14.25, and three $17.50. Lunch special served all week up to 4pm. And after 4pm the only thing that changes is that the price for one item increases by $1. It comes with beans and rice. They also serve complimentary chips n green salsa. The salsa has a lot of flavor. Nice consistency. My faves are the shredded beef taco, pork tamale, chicken enchilada... who am I kidding... I think I've tried almost every menu item and haven't eaten anything I haven't liked. The tacos are served in a crispy fresh fried shell of your choice of corn or flour tortilla. The enchilada sauce is darn delicious. This location opened in 1992. But it gives off modern vibes. No trapped in time warp here. But what has stayed consistent is the delicious food, welcoming vibes, comfortable atmosphere, and attentive customer service. Another thing to note is the parking is metered street parking.

Vallejo's has added some American Breakfast items to the menu. That gives you a choice between Mexican and American. The service is excellent with a friendly staff that is attentive to the needs of some of the older patrons with a variety of ailments.

We were headed to the airport and got our food to-go to eat on the plane. I ordered an al pastor burrito. Boarded for our 11 hour plane ride, thought I was gonna sit back and enjoy my burrito. Took it out of the bag and was immediately like hmmm..this seems wayyy too skinny to be a burrito. Y'all, I took a bite and was soooo sad to see I was given a rolled up tortilla with just meat. They didn't put any rice, no beans, no salsa, no lettuce, nada. And the pastor was dry too. Definitely not a burrito in any way. Everyone else's order was fine except mine. I showed my family and they were shocked too. I waited in the car while my family went inside to get the food. There were homeless tents across the street from here so just be careful of your surroundings. My family said the staff was friendly.

Met some friends here after work for dinner. There is a patio, but given the heat, we decided to sit indoors. When I entered, I was promptly greeted and given a choice of a booth or a table. The server gave me a minute to decide on a drink and I decided it was a margarita kind of day. As we moved on to food, I decided to go with the nachos. The plate was piled high with goodies and I added a necessary side of jalapenos. Our servers provided consistent check-ins ensuring that we were well taken care of. Check 'em out of you're in the neighborhood.

Hadn't been here in years. We walked from our hotel close by with our dog and we're allowed to bring him inside because he is a service dog. The food was delicious and the waitress was very accommodating. They have remodeled since we've been here last and it is very comfortable. He will be back.

My brother and I come here a few times a year. I have had many different things off the menu and have never been disappointed. My current go to is the enchiladas. I get Al pastor and chicken. The Al pastor is insanely good. The pork is so tender and flavorful. I love the sauce. I could drink it on its own. The service is generally pretty good. Depending on when you come the food can take a while to get to the table. But hey, that is what the chips and salsa are for.

I'm thankful that we were able to have a celebration of life for my mother here. The staff was very attentive and the fajita bar was delicious. We'd just done the memorial and drove in from bodega bay where she wanted to be spread (on our ways back out because we all live across the country) and were pleasantly surprised to have such welcoming employees. I'll say the drinks are pricey (we paid for those separately) but there was plenty of space and food to celebrate my late mother's life with her oldest friends.
