Urban Roots Brewing & Smokehouse is hands down one of the best spots in Sacramento for craft beer and BBQ! From the moment you walk in, the vibe is laid-back and welcoming, with a spacious indoor area and a great outdoor patio perfect for hanging out with friends. The beer selection is top-notch, with a solid mix of IPAs, lagers, and seasonal brews. Whether you're into something hoppy or a smooth, easy-drinking beer, they've got something for you. Highly recommend trying their Tropicalia IPA or one of their barrel-aged stouts if you're feeling adventurous! And the food? Incredible. The smoked brisket is melt-in-your-mouth tender, the ribs are perfectly seasoned, and the housemade sausages are packed with flavor. Don't skip the mac & cheese or the cornbread--they're the perfect sidekicks to the BBQ.Service is friendly and efficient, even when they're busy. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this place is a must-visit. Great beer, amazing food, and a chill atmosphere--what more could you ask for? Will definitely be coming back soon!

The atmosphere was okay. Ordered the tri tip , ribs, and brisket. All the meat came out lukewarm, at best. For sides got the salad, burnt end beans and cornbread muffin. The beans were hot but there was only one burnt end in the serving. For drinks I ordered the Right Right, which is a hazy IPA. It was nice and cold like it should be as was my salad. Service was good, tables were sticky! Manager came to see us to make it right but I will not be back.

One of my favorite breweries in the Sacramento area! Great beer, amazing food, and a cool mural. The staff is always friendly and helpful, especially when I'm trying something new. It's usually packed when I stop by, but the service is quick, so the wait never feels too long. There are two outdoor seating areas, one in the front and another on the side of the brewery. In the summer, they have a cooling mist, which is a lifesaver in the Sacramento heat.Everything I've tried here has been delicious, but the smoked chicken wings are one of my favorites. You can't go wrong with the Alabama White sauce! Dog-friendly Street parking (no parking lot)

I love this spot. Kid and pet friendly brewery with plenty food options! The bbq is awesome and fairly priced. Plus there is something for everyone to drink... from IPAs, ciders, seltzers, wine, soda. There is a large patio area with plenty seating plus indoor seating as well. You order up front, be prepared there are two lines.... One for food/drinks. However if you just want a beer just walk up to the bar area and avoid the line. Great spot to hang out. We ordered plenty food and all the food was great.

Great selection of beers on tap in this neighborhood brewery and restaurant. I only tried the rocky road chocolate moustache which was phenomenal! Complex flavors, rich, dark with notes of vanilla, coffee and nuts. It was on tap and also selling in bottles. I got one to take home too!

3.5/4 stars for me. This was a highly recommended to me by someone in Sac as they mentioned every time they have friends and family visit this is their go to spot. It has cool vibes and lots of beer selections and just a fun sit down place. We had a beer flight and decided to take our food to go as we were super tired from our long day. Staff is super friendly. I can't speak too much to the beer selection as I've really toned down on drinking beer for many years now. In regards to the food--- While I typically expect to more when going to bbq spots, similar to other reviews I cannot justify the amount of meat you pay for the price. Maybe this was specifically in regards to the ribs. The half pound of ribs only came with 2 pieces of ribs. It makes me wonder if they take into consideration the bones and if this is the weight precooked or after. The 1/4 lb pulled pork seemed to have more meat and more filling. I would say everything was good but nothing particularly out of this world or memorable compared to other places I've been. I would say the brisket tacos is prob worth a try in terms of taste and cost. Wish we ordered to dine in so that we could have ordered more food instead. -brisket tacos-1/4 lb pulled pork-1/2 Lb ribs -pork belly burnt endsWe got the tacos, pulled pork, ribs,

Urban Roots is our favorite brewery in Sacramento. First and foremost, the beers are consistently top notch. We've been coming here for 5 years and definitely have our favorites (Luna De Miel Mexican lager is #1), but you really can't go wrong ordering any of the house brews. The draft list is expansive, covering the most popular trends, but also often including complex malty beers and other styles often omitted by other small breweries. Stick around for some great BBQ! We love the smoked turkey and have frequently taken home a half pound for sandwiches. "Make it a meal" for a fantastic lunch on the patio w/ pickles, salad, cornbread and your choice of side. We go crazy for the collared greens. The crew working here is so friendly and upbeat. Ask for suggestions & current house favorites... the team always seems happy to help. We no longer live locally, but do our best to make it to Urban Roots whenever we visit or pass through the area. If we are short on time we'll still stop for some beer to-go. This stuff is the best around town.Cheers!

Stumbled across this spot while in Sacramento last month and it was a great find. Urban Roots features a large selection of beers/cocktails and their smoked meats hit the spot. My favorite were the wings!! Great spot for date night/day or friends get together, also family friendly too so truly anyone can enjoy it. Large venue, ample seating indoors as well as outdoors (heated lamps for the colder months) and offering live music on the weekends.

Stopped by for a much needed meal and we were so happy we did! Our food was hot and delicious. We left full and wanting to visit again. We ordered up front at the counter and our food was quickly prepared after that. The restaurant was massive and fairly packed on the weekend we went. We chose to sit outside since the weather permitted it. All customers around us seemed happy with their meals!

Easily fit my party of 11at ONE table. It was lively, loud, and still intimate. Service was excellent and I appreciate the GM Chris for his hospitality. Let's talk BBQ - you cannot go wrong with the "all the smoke" tray. It feeds 3-4 people and offers a taste of all the yummy meats and 4 sides. The appetizers were also good if you're not wanting g to eat a lotta food. My fave was the salted pretzel with cheese sauce and mustard sauce. We also had the nachos. URBS has soft serve ice cream and prepackaged sweets, which are great for on the go.The beer was also on point and the bartenders were knowledgeable and made the best recommendations. We liked everything we tasted and could've drank more if we weren't driving far. Opening a tab was no fuss. Oh, Coke products for your designated driver. We did not feel rushed at all despite how busy it was. It was really busy and the line to order food was always long but moved steadily. The order takers were soo nice and overall it was a great vibe. Only street parking, but worth a few turns around the corner. Worth the drive to SAC and we are planning our next visit.
