Tugboat Fish & Chips

Hidden gem. The fish is never dry and the service is always great. The outdoor patio is comfortable and really brings the port vibe to the Carmichael pavement. The hush puppies are great too.Probably not for someone avoiding fried foods, but you're missing out.

When I used to live down here in the Sac area, I used to have fish and chips all the time, but now I live way up in the north end of the valley and we don't have many places that are dedicated fish and chips restaurants. Tugboat is a small chain in the Sac area and has some of the best fish and chips around. The prices have gone up some since I last ate here. I got a 3 piece fish and chips order for around $15. Gone are the days of the $8.00 3 piece order! The fish was hot and crispy like I remembered .Not really greasy at all.I like to come get fish and chips when I visit the area now. I'll be beck!

Towards the last leg of a 3.5 mile trek, I decided to take a lunch break. I stopped @ Tugboat Fish & Chips to quench my appetite. This is a quaint corner restaurant off Fair Oaks Blvd / Manzanita Aves. I was greeted by a nice young lady that took my order. Today's meal consisted of sides; fried oysters, hush puppies & coleslaw. I ate my meal outside under their shed. My food was deliciously fresh, perfectly seasoned & enjoyable to dine on. This restaurant, service and food was well worth my time and money! I definitely recommendthis restaurant for your fresh seafood fix!!!!

This was our first time here. It's conveniently located right off Fair Oaks Blvd and has super cute curb appeal. The server was very friendly and helpful with the questions we had. The outside area was very welcoming, had great lighting for the evening time and clean. It had cute picnic tables with under the sea decor. The food was delicious! Fresh, crunchy, lots of different dipping sauces. Will definitely return. Complimentary dessert was brought out, 2 fried bananas. Excellent

I was craving Tugboat fish in chips. I was not craving just any fish & chips... It had to be Tugboat! They have a unique batter with a unique tarter sauce that I have always ALWAYS crave!Today, I went into this cozy little spot and ordered two 3 piece fish lunches that come with fries and tarter sauce, and they top it with an onion ring or two. Since I had my sister and baby with me, I let her know I would be waiting in the car and would be back in to get our order. There is outdoor seating available. It's too tight to eat inside. When our order was finished, the nice woman brought it out to the car for me! She didn't have to, but I was so appreciative since our baby was being a little fussy. She added a special treat of 2 pieces of deep-fried banana drizzled with chocolate.... be sure to let those cool off! They were absolutely delicious. We went to the park to chow down on our yummy, delicious savory fish & chips, dipping in that oh so amazing tarter sauce! I can't wait to come back! Service was amazing and the food is worth every penny!

Our go to fish & chips place! They are closed on Mondays & Sundays. Very friendly family business. The cook aka the dad is always smiling and respectful. His smile always makes you feel happy and appreciated. Service is always on point and very attentive. There is indoor seating and also outdoor seating. The restaurant is always looking clean. We mostly order to go. They will bring your food to your car if your food is ready. Sometimes I will find a little tray of complimentary fried bananas with my order. It's very tasty! We always get the 2pc fish & shrimp combo. The fish and shrimp is fried to perfection! You also get a few pieces of fried onion rings with it. Everything tastes delicious!

I've been going to Tugboat Fish and Chips for years. Their food is always great, but their "chips"/fries left a lot to be desired. I'm happy to report that I got dinner there last night and they have switched it up to some amazing big steak fries which are deliciously crispy on the outside and delightfully soft in the inside and such an improvement over what they used to have. I would've always recommended that you eat at this place but now I can recommend it even more! In addition to great food, the service is great as well!

Carmichael classic! This place has everything you could want when it comes to fish and chips . It's so fresh and the batter is crisp to perfection

so i've been enjoying Tugboat since 1999! Always fresh, Always huge portions! Made from scratch fried veggies and their tartar sauce is todie for i always buy a larger one when i'm there! Thank you for being so consistent I have not been to a tugboat in over 6 years and it's still fab!!

Have to bring the family here EVERY time we're in town. The BEST Fish & Chips! Super friendly service and generous helpings. Plus very gracious hosts. Thank you so much for another fantastic experience!
