After Sean Baker's speech for accepting Screenplay of the year for Anora at the 97th Oscar awards I signed up for a membership at the Tower Theatre online. I plan to make this local and independent theatre a part of my monthly viewing pleasure moving forward. It's like stepping into a time machine here. But that's a large part of the personality and appeal here. The carpets, the tiles in the bathrooms. The smiles the cashiers have all feels like how movie theaters used to operate. Even the walk into the building gives off nostalgia. I remember seeing Parasite here while it was playing in 2019. I went in with zero expectations and was blow away by the storytelling and acting. It became one of my favorite movies to date. Tower theatre provided that experience and without them I wouldn't have what became a core movie experience. I don't drink anymore but when I did I loved grabbing some locally brewed beer and walking in to grab a seat. The popcorn here is awesome as well. Support local theaters! Keep them in business. Movies are best when experienced at the theatre surrounded by your community. Thank you Anjelika Film Center for continuing to operate Sacramento's best independent film theatre.

Very convienent to our house, just a hop and a skip away. I like that they have a large parking lot. We are always able to find parking. Today we went to see the Bob Dylan Movie. We went to the 5:30pm showing the Saturday after it came out and we were shocked that the theatre was not even half full. We were sure we would get lousy seats because we didn't get there early enough. We arrived 20 minuets before the showing and got great seats. There was no ticket checker when we arrived so we just walked in. We looped back after we got out seats and the ticket taker was back and we scanned our QR code for the tickets. We bought our tickets online the afternoon of the movie. It was a simple process and easy to navigate. Senior tickets were only $9 and general admission was $12 or $13. I can't recall.I brought my jacket with me just I case it got cool and it did a tad bit. When we arrived in the theater there was someone in there playing the organ. It was very pleasant and festive. The seats are the old fashioned theater seating. Not the fancy ones that recline. The concessions sold adult beverages, pop corn, cookies, and candy. We passed as we were going to dinner after the movie. It's nice that they have tower cafe next door so you have a place to end your evening.

A nice theater from way back. No recliners here. Your butt will pay the price for longer movies. Can't beat the vintage vibe, unless you want comfort. Good rotation of indie films.

It's a historical theater and a very charming one. It kept its original design. Although it's not as soundproof as the new theaters it doesn't take away from the experience. I saw FLOW at this theater eight times. Which is another thing I'm grateful for having this almost 100 years old theater---FLOW is an independent movie and they mostly please independent movies. One of the best movies of all time! Period. lol. I love that this movie is non anthropomorphic. They kept the characteristics and behaviors of the animals in the movie as it should be. Best movie ever!!!

I came here for a movie and went back in time with a great treat of hearing such a talented musician, Dave Moreno. In between my movie, at 5:40 on Saturday, 11/16/2024, I was treated to an old fashioned mini organ music concert! Dave Moreno's talent is AMAZING!!!! I can't imagine how this was the norm..back in the day. I wish more places would bring back live music. If you haven't come here before, check their website and COME! What a treat!!! I will definitely be back. Oh and the wine (in a real glass) and the popcorn are an extra PLUS!!!! They also have beer on draft. Bring your credit card, no cash accepted.

This theater is a Sacramento staple, literally. So iconic and essential to the city. It's been featured in countless movies and documentaries. This place kind of spawned Tower Records in a way.The location is great! On Broadway near downtown. It has its own parking lot that is big but does get full often. There are meant restaurants nearby including the Cafe which is attached to the theater. Some showings are very busy while others are sparsely populated. The inside is dated and feels a bit old but that's the beauty of this place, it's a classic theater. Some of the paint is chipping away, cracks in walls, it just has character. Depending on the theater you go watch in, there is a large one with many seats and a couple smaller ones. They all have a lot of seats since they are more old school and you can pick your own seats as you please (no seat reservations). The food is pretty good, the popcorn is always solid. My favorite thing about this theater is all the unusual and lowkey movies they show. They tend to show a lot of the non-main stream films. They also host a bunch of film festivals. I kind of wish they renovated to make it brighter inside and more inviting. If they had the reclining seats it would be much better since there are so many unused seats.Bottom line/TLDR: great quirky theater.

I've been to the tower theater over the years and it is a very fun and unique cinematic experience. They play more indie type films that are often far more thought-provoking than the average blockbuster but they also have light hearted comedies as well. They play around three or four movies in the theater as its a bit smaller than your average theater. They offer popcorn and soda and a few other snacks. Their hot dogs are pretty good. The seats are moderately comfortable though its not luxury comfort-lean-back in your seat type chair. I would also say parking is a bit hard to find sometimes cause the parking lot is not very big.Overall, fun theater and would recommend;)

I've been coming to The Tower for decades. It's the only source in the area for independent, foreign, and art house films. It's a bit worn around the edges but that's expected for an 85 year old theater with all the many years and changes it's gone through. It's a Sacramento gem and I'm grateful it's still here! My only gripe is with the unfriendly demeanor of its employees lately. From the ticket buying experience to the snack bar. Employees are robotic, unwelcoming and appear to be unhappy with a look that says stay away.

A Sacramento classic. Such a great theatre, with a great selection of older and classic movies shown regularly. They also have a good selection of boozy beverages to enjoy during your film.
