HandsOn Sacramento is the best place to look if you are interested in volunteering in the city (or anywhere nearby - they cover the whole region). They have a (free!) website where you can make a profile and sign up to volunteer. They partner with almost all nonprofits in Sacramento, so if you are interested in serving food, helping animals or bettering parks/neighborhoods (or anything really), you can check online to see what/when the next project is. They also host some big, city-wide events, like volunteering on MLK Day. Those are pretty fun because so many people show up.There is a Hands On (whatever city) in many places all over the country. I like Hands On Sacramento because:1, I used to volunteer with them all the time2. The staff you deal with is great3. They partner with so many amazing orgs (and there are so many absolutely fantastic organizations in Sacramento - one of the things I am actually impressed by in this generally unimpressive city)4. The big events they host are fun and they accomplish a lotSo yeah, if you are looking to volunteer for a day, for a few months or even longer, you should definitely start your search by looking at what Hands On Sacramento has to offer.

Simply said - Hands On Sacramento makes it easy to volunteer. They have 300 non-profits and 18,000 volunteers that participate in high-impact, meaningful volunteer events every year. They organized the largest volunteer day in Sacramento with almost 1,800 volunteers for MLK day and host the CVC - the Corporate Volunteer Council.HandsOnSacto.org makes finding volunteer events and organization to volunteer for easy. It sends you reminders for events you signed up for and you can track all of your volunteer hours in one place. The best part - it's all free... to volunteers and organizations.
