The Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary is a great local zoo. Priced at $7 for ages 2 and up, it's very affordable and a great time for the kids. The sanctuary itself isn't very large, so it's easy to walk around and not too tiring for the littles. There's ample walkway space for strollers. There are several benches to sit and take a break along the path. The staff are great and always friendly. You can tell they really care about all the animals. The are a decent variety of animals including avian, bears, canine, feline, primates and more. This last visit in November, our favorites we saw were the serval, raptors, peacocks, and deer. They also have a barnyard experience towards the end and you can get a more up close view of different animals. We also love how some animals are just roaming around like peacocks. There are signs every where describing the animals and their names, and if they're nocturnal too.The sanctuary is also very clean. They also have different photo op spots around the area. It's really a great local zoo and always fun to visit.

Came here just after Thanksgiving and was pleasantly surprised with every aspect of this zoo sanctuary! I should preface this by saying I was not expecting much since it was only $7 (ages 2 and up) to enter.Everything was clean, organized, and spacious. There was enough room for strollers to pass by, and signage was informative without being overwhelming. There was quite a variety of animals, some of which even had a details about their rescue stories. My entire family felt happy and relaxed to learn and wander in this space, which was bigger than we had anticipated. Some "extras" included: Staff was friendly, and there were some cute photo ops that gave my family a laugh. I would definitely return, as this was the best zoo my family had visited. Thank you for the wonderful time and memories, Folsom City Zoo!

The gentleman at the bear exhibit was very friendly and informative. It's a very hilly location and tough to navigate with littles and strollers.

Stumbled upon this sanctuary by accident & so glad we did. It is a hidden gem nestled in the middle of a neighborhood in Folsom you never would know it's there. We enjoyed seeing & reading about each rescue story of the animals and the zoo is much bigger than we had expected. It is clean and well kept/landscaped. The animals look healthy & happy. Definitely a place to check out even if you don't have kids!

5 stars. This is a Santuary rescue for wild animals that need to be cared for and would not make it in the wild. I've been here many times over the years. There are always different animals. I like to read the descriptions of a bit of their histories that are posted on their enclosures. Pretty ground. All of the staff and volunteers were friendly and helpful. My favorites were the Sand Cats. I had never heard of them before and learned a lot. Bring a picnic lunch and eat at the park right outside the entrance. Enjoy!

I love that this is a sanctuary for animals that can't live in the wild. I've been coming here almost 40 years and it is very special to me. A train ride with the kids, visit the animals, get a snack and there is a playground. They do wonderful work here for the animals.

Lions, tigers, and bears oh my... more like bobcats, raccoons, and peacocks. This place wasn't your average zoo but still a lot of fun! 5 stars for the train ride ALONE!! The conductor was AMAZING and so SWEET!! He took studio quality photos of our family and gave us a tutorial on how to use our iPhones for quality photos. He was sweet enough to run the train for us shortly after they closed for our daughter to have the full experience of the zoo. (The train is faster than a baby train, we were surprised. Hold on tight. A lot of fun) Fun fact : this zoo is all rescued animals. Some were illegals pets that were saved. Each animal has a story. Also enjoyed the snacks at the bistro before entering. Very tasty pretzels, corn dogs, and nachos. The sweet associate handled the rush and our large family order well.

Loved the zoo. We were not able to see many animals probably because of the intense heat the day we went, but for the entrance fee paid we did not mind it. The grounds are nicely kept, and the playground outside is really nice. A good way to end the day

My 13 year old son and I visited tonight for the "Wild Nights & Holiday Lights" event. I wasn't sure if it might be too "young" for him, but he's an animal lover and we had the best time. We went through the zoo twice to make sure we got to glimpse all of the nocturnal animals that made appearances. The Arabian Sand Cats were our favorites. At one point, my son commented about how kind and helpful all of the docents (volunteers!) were and I couldn't agree more. They were so knowledgeable and contributed to our great time. Would absolutely visit again, especially for the nighttime holiday event!
