The Firehouse Restaurant is one of the nicest places for dinner in Old Sac. We came here for Dine Downtown and had a great experience. Upon arrival, we had a short wait before our table was ready. Our host sat us down shortly, and later our server went over the specials. I already knew what I was going to order because I saw the Dine Downtown menu prior to going to the restaurant. We pretty much tried everything on the Dine Downtown menu. The first course was mixed greens with candied walnuts, red onions, apples, and vinaigrette. The second course was the pan seared salmon and oven-roasted chicken. My favorite was the salmon. I loved how on parts of the salmon, the texture was softer, perfectly under cooked. It was so delicious! The chicken had a good flavor to it, but I personally liked the salmon more. For dessert, we got both the vanilla creme brûlée and chocolate mousse. They were both so good! Although it didn't have a hard candy-like shell on top, it was topped with fruit and still delicious. The chocolate mousse cake was sweet and just perfect in texture. They were equally good and I'm glad we got both. Our server was so nice and provided great service. The dining room looked amazing and we even got to check out downstairs after our meal. The Firehouse Restaurant is a great restaurant for a special occasion in Sacramento.

I recently dined at The Firehouse Restaurant, and it was a delightful experience! The ambiance is warm and inviting, with a rustic charm that makes you feel right at home. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring that our meal was both delicious and enjoyable. The menu offers a variety of options, and everything we tried was well-prepared and flavorful. I especially enjoyed the [mention a dish you liked], which was cooked to perfection. The portion sizes were generous, and the ingredients felt fresh and high quality. While the food and service were excellent, the only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because the wait time for a table was a bit longer than expected, but it was definitely worth it. The atmosphere is bustling, and I can understand why it's so popular.Overall, I highly recommend The Firehouse Restaurant for anyone looking for a great meal in a welcoming setting. I will definitely be coming back!

Love it! The Firehouse continues to be one of my favs! For this visit, I opted for the Dine Downtown Menu and paired it with the wine flight. From start to finish, it was a great experience and entree options. For the dine downtown menu, the first entrée was Arcadian mixed green. For my second entrée, I selected the pan-seared skuna bay salmon and third, the vanilla crème brûlée. We also ordered an entrée from their main menu, the double-cut brined pork chop. One of our favs on the menu and you won't be disappointed. It was juicy and perfectly cooked. We also ordered the braised pork belly. It was ok, I felt it was lacking something but I couldn't put my finger on it. The service was impeccable, as always. The staff is friendly, attentive, and ensures you feel well taken care of throughout the evening. The elegant and classy ambiance ties everything together, making it a wonderfully spot for a special night out. We weee seated near the outdoor patio so it was romantic. The Firehouse remains a standout for elevated dining in Sacramento, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for exceptional food, wine, and service!

Reservations were made with a birthday gathering. There is parking near the area as it's located in old Sac. We parked a short walk around the corner. When you walk up, you'll see a door to an old building. As you walk in, you see the bar surrounded by a brick building. It is slightly dim inside which gives a romantic feel. There are large paintings on the wall of interesting art. We were greeted and checked in once we passed the bar. We were given time to look over the menu. They brought out bread and butter to our tables and filled our glass with water.,Once we received our drink order, we asked them to take our order for appetizers. They brought us a cracker with goat cheese and bacon to cleanser palette before we begin. We ordered shrimp fritters, it comes with four balls, Two sets of oysters, which were super tiny in my opinion but tasted fresh, and a pork strip. Once the mains came in, we were ready to eat. The food tasted great at the portions were good. I enjoyed the moistness and flavor of the steak, and the seasoning of the chicken. The salmon was too fishy in my opinion. I feel like the table was very excited for the desserts as we all agreed the carrot cake was amazing and the chocolate mousse cake was delicious. They knew it was a birthday so they brought out a piece of cake with a candle on it to allow us to sing happy birthday. That was a very nice touch Our server was very informational and pleasant. They removed plates as soon as they became available, which was nice. I will say that we had to ask for refills often and were forgotten about. Overall a nice place to have a nice dinner.

My experience is based on one visit, so our party's choices may not accurately reflect the offerings for which The Firehouse Restaurant is best known. I personally did not the beef offerings, so it may be we missed the boat. Given this is so, I will limit myself to the three standard components of the experience: ambience, service and the cuisine itself. The restaurant itself is a very pleasant location. A converted firehouse, it plays into its physical roots, with brass poles and other accruements of an age gone by (this is especially true in the bar area). The dining room is handsome, and gives off old school Northern California vibes. Formally set tables, large paintings of the Romantic school, and whitewashed brick walls sets the scene for elegant dining. I was greatly impressed with look and feel of this establishment. The service was generally good. Our waiter was polite, if occasionally a bit too unctuous. He did his best to navigate our large-ish party on a busy and crowded Saturday night. When we arrived for our meal, the restaurant was entirely full. So while there were gaps in the service, I give staff props for trying to provide food and drink in a timely away. That does lead to the meal itself and in this regard, there was much to be desired. They did have an impressive wine list and I enjoyed a decent Californian white and a French red. My wife, not a drinker, ordered a cucumber-mint mocktail, which she found quite refreshing. But as to the food itself? I would say that the menu is ambitious in scope and amateurish in execution. Our starters, which should have been slam dunks, left us shaking our heads. I had the Wedge salad and she the shrimp fritters. Both were ample in quantity, but were crudely prepared. While perfectly edible, they hardly boasted any particular quality. Indeed, my salad was not as good as one I had for lunch in an inexpensive cafe earlier in the day.Our mains were similarly disappointing. My wife had the rack of lamb. Again, ample in size, but also underdone. I had a specialty of the evening, salmon with an accompanying seafood mixture, which was described as a kind of thick cioppino. It turned out to be a slightly overdone salmon fillet with a tomato-fish accompaniment. It was not a salubrious experiment. Again, it was perfectly edible, but showing a real lack of culinary refinement. To be fair, others in our party did order the strip steak and fillet mignon, and seemed happy with their choices. But FR I think has ambitions to being more than a chophouse. Right now, that is where I would put it.The one bright spot in terms of food was dessert. The churros-tres leches cake was excellent, the vanilla cake just soaked enough. Similarly, the coffee-mousse entremets was flavorful and showed real culinary flair. So kudos on the afters.Taken as a whole, I had a pleasant time at Firehouse. It was a great spot to have a nice night out. But I couldn't in good conscience recommend it on the food alone. If you are satisfied with the experience, by all means go.

Finally got to try the Firehouse Restaurant last night for my company holiday party! It started with appetizers and cocktail hour (an open bar) in a private area of the restaurant! It was quite beautiful! We were downstairs next to the courtyard! The area had a fireplace and was well decorated! We had our meal for around 35 people as a pre plated menu! The appetizers stole the show. We had bruschetta, beef Wellington, shrimp skewers, crab cakes! The shrimp was my favorite! Perfectly cooked, and seasoned! Yum!!!!After cocktail hour wrapped up we all sat down for the meal! It started with a beautiful salad!! It tasted very fresh and was colorful! Then after salad it was time for the entree. I got the steak. We had a choice of steak, fish, vegetarian or pork. The steak was overcooked and didn't have any flavor. It came with mashed potatoes and green beans! Both were fine! The star off the show was the chocolate mousse cake! It was so rich and delicious and I swear it had gold flakes. The staff were very nice and attentive! They made the entire experience very pleasant! I would love to come back to firehouse and eat off the menu! I've always heard people love it! I think catering to this many people is just hard to get things right!

I highly recommend visiting this gem in Old Town Sacramento. This place is the perfect place for special occasions like anniversaries or date nights. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure every detail of our meal was just right. And not just that, our waiter also gave us information on the historic background to the Firehouse restaurant which was pretty neat. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, a really fancy restaurant. The food was nothing short of exceptional. The filet mignon was our favorite dish of the night. It was cooked so perfectly! Portions are quite generous especially for a restaurant like this. If you have leftovers they give you a really nice bag to carry the food in.

We came here for a group of 6 for Valentine's Day so they had a prefixe menu with a couple of choices of entrees to choose from. I caved and ate too much of the bread basket! The bread was good. It was warm and with the butter balls, I couldn't help it. As far as the rest of the evening, I mostlyI went with all seafood choices. The prawns were delicious. Super flavorful and so fresh and tender. I heard the filot minon was also really good and cooked to perfection the way you ask for it. The scallops were so fresh and also cooked to perfection. I think this restaurant does really well with that part. They don't overcook the meats and seafood. Often times, it's really hard to get a filey minon right and even seafood so I really appreciated this part. The service was great and the server was attentive and always checking in with us. I can only vouch for this particular V day meal. I'm not sure if they're always this consistent. Cute vibes here for dates.

I want to start off by saying that the service is amazing. The waiters are incredibly kind and their service is incredibly quick. The restaurant itself is beautiful and is perfect for a dinner date. I'm not sure if what we got wasn't a good thing to get on the menu but we were pretty disappointed. We ordered a Caesar salad and wanted to try their pumpkin gnocchi so we got that as well. The Caesar salad was okay, but the pumpkin gnocchi was not good at all. We ate it because we were hungry but would definitely not recommend trying this.I would come again for their service and to try something new, but would make sure not to get the same thing
