Taqueria Los Altos has been a go-to taqueria for over fifteen years, as it features delicious, truly authentic Mexican cuisine, served by friendly staff, and a convenient location in a small strip mall, in west Roseville, CA. As an added bonus, menudo is served on weekends. You have to love this fine restaurant! As you enter the restaurant, you'll notice the order counter, the kitchen, the soft drink machine and the salsa bar on the left, with the dining room on the right. The dining room is long and narrow, and furnished with small booths, table, and one large, high round table. There are a couple of small bench tables near the front widows where I sat.Like most taquerias, you walk into the restaurant, make your selection from the overhead menu, pay for it, then seat yourself at any available table or booth. When your order is ready, it will be brought to you by one of the friendly chefs who prepared your order. I'm going to take a guess if the restaurant is busy, you'll most likely receive a number. No worries for me on this mid-Saturday morning, as there were only a handful of diners in the dining room, as most orders seemed to be takeout. The salsa bar features medium and mild salsa, along with lime quarters, pickled veggies, chopped white onions and diced fresh cilantro. There are little cups where you help yourself, and you're welcome to take a cup or two home with you, especially if you ordered a to-go meal. Fresh from the kitchen corn tortilla chips are located at the far end of the counter, as there isn't room in front. The counter, along with the restaurant is quite compact. Chips are kept hot under a light. From the "Tacos" menu, I went with "Two Soft Tacos" and my choice of meat was tripas. Yes, "tripas" is beef tripe. I had already made my first trip to the chips and salsa bar when my lunch arrived, so I simply combined everything together and enjoyed!Just like in Mexico, the foundation of each taco was two smaller-size corn tortillas, toasted on the griddle, yet moist and tender. When I say "smaller size" corn tortillas, these tortillas were much larger than the small "street taco" size corn tortillas that you'll encounter from street vendors. The corn tortillas were earthy-tasting, and held each taco together well. The tripas, small beef intestines, was seasoned, marinated and cut into small pieces, and perfectly fried on the griddle to a crispy, golden brown on the outside, juicy and tender inside, by the talented chef. The tripas were chewy, which is the way they're supposed to be, and were simply delicious, and melt-in-your-mouth tender and juicy. A generous amount of the delicious tripas was placed on each taco, and garnished with red, in-house made salsa, diced white onion and diced, fresh cilantro. Oh yes! With these simple garnishes, the tacos were EXACTLY the way tacos de tripas are served in Mexico. One bite into my first taco and I was instantly transported to the streets of Mexicali, Mexico, where I've enjoyed countless tacos de tripas. The taste was heavenly, earthy and authentic, as the way it is with a delicious taco, filled with grilled tripas. The red salsa held it all together, and the onion and cilantro added a cooling side, along with a organic taste sensation.Truly delicious tacos! You won't find many restaurants in Placer County, and west Roseville that serve "Tacos de Tripas," so to get your fix, you'll truly want to head over to Taqueria Los Altos. You'll savor authentic northern Mexican cuisine, exactly as it's prepared in every city, town and village, in northern Mexico and the state of Baja California. The food is delicious, the staff is friendly, and the dining is comfortable.Visit Taqueria Los Altos, located in Roseville, CA for delicious Mexican cuisine, every day of the week!

We decided to stop here to grab a quick bite and... who doesn't love tacos? We have noticed this spot for years, and finally we were hungry enough to give it a try! As we walked in, it was busy. It is set up with tables and chairs with the kitchen sectioned off and plexiglass to protect from the public. I like that you can watch the chefs at work. Above the kitchen and register would be their menus with many options to choose from. We decided to order 3 carnitas tacos, an order of chicken taquitos, and 2 carnitas enchiladas with a drink and water cup. We received a number and it didn't take long before they were bringing our order to us! As you can see from the pictures, it looked delicious! We stopped at their condiment bar for salsa, pico de gallo, and limes.I loved the way they did their enchiladas (only in red sauce). They were filled with meat & cheese and folded in half. Sauce in top and sprinkled with more cheese. Those were absolutely delicious. Their carnitas were so good! Although the sauce has a slight spaghett-o's taste to it, it was our favorite item on our plates. Our carnitas tacos were dressed with cilantro, onion, and salsa. They were packed full of meat, and they have DELICIOUS CARNITAS!!! Be sure to squeeze some lime on! My other half split one of his tacos in half because street tacos are traditionally double up on the tortillas, and since they have so much meat, he makes two!Last, our chicken taquitos were covered with lots of lettuce, and cheese with crema on the side. These were pretty good, as well! Very tasty dipped in the salsa, pico, along with a little crema... Unfortunately, we did not notice until the end of our meal that there were chips available to go with your food. They were placed on the opposite side of the salsa bar. In the other side of the restaurant. We were not offered any or shown they were there. I love to squeeze limes over my chips with a little sprinkle of salt and dip in salsa. Next time, I will try to remember.I loved having lunch here. The food looked gorgeous, tasted delicious... and I can't wait to try the menudo this weekend (only served on Saturdays & Sundays).

The food is decent, but my husband and I went to get a burrito that is already a little on the higher price side. He asked to have it put back on the grill, to make the tortilla a little crispy, cooked more. The lady that took the order said it would be an extra $1.00 or 1.50 can't remember exactly it's been a little while. He was so shocked that they would charge more to just put back on the grill !!! He does that at Jalisco grill and other Mexican restaurants, when he orders a burrito all the time with no up charge at all. How do they justify charging you more, they aren't giving you anything more !!! So greedy trying to make a buck off the customer any way they can. Needless to say he has not gone back there !

Were there tonight, looked clean (floor, tables, etc) . Ordered, food came, quite tasty but once done and looking around the 2 grill chefs where preparing a take out order and removed food items from the grill with bare hands. How sanitary is that, no gloves, no hats, no facemasks, nada. If this is typically grilling, no thanks, one and done. What else was not seen from the dining area. Needs an ongoing sanitary inspection

Every bite I took was beans and rice. Not enough meat. We ordered 4 super burritos and it's one of the worse places I tried. I wouldn't come here again.
