The crunchy carne asada tacos here are absolutely next level! We also tried the traditional tacos, which were great, but the crispy ones had that extra something that made them unforgettable. The texture and flavor came together perfectly, making each bite better than the last.The staff made the whole experience smooth and pleasant--they were welcoming and efficient, making sure everything was just right. Walk in and order at a counter, sit where you'd like, help yourself to soda fountain, chips, salsa, pickled and sautéed vegetables: perfection. They have indoor and warmed outdoor seating, booths, and vibrant decor. Even though we ordered at the counter, we were checked in on multiple times while we ate. Employees were friendly, attentive, and efficient. My friend got the lunch special (3 tacos with your choice of meats and rice and beans for $12), and while I love carnitas, asada, and more culinary zest in general, I often find myself being allured to something simple. What can I say, I get overwhelmed easily. Beans were delicious, refried to perfection, melted Colby Jack in perfect ratio (people can mess up a bean and cheese burrito). Eli said the tacos were delicious. Chips and salsa some of the best I've had. I would highly recommend this establishment.

The wife suggested this place for dinner and I'm glad she did. It's quaint and it filled up fast. You order at the counter and if you're lucky, you grab an available seat. I had a michelada and she had a strawberry margarita. I ordered the alambres. Plate came out sizzling and it didn't disappoint. Food and drinks were on point, and the self serve salsa bar had plenty of options. I'm looking forward to trying more items off the menu.

Hands down one of the best spots for Mexican food in all of Sacramento! The music is great. The service was great and the staff is always checking up on you to see how the food and the service is going which is a plus. You can't go wrong dining in there for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I ended up ordering a torta cubana which was delicious! They also have a good variety of salsa and chip bar with grilled onions as well! Definitely recommend!

Definitely a solid spot for Mexican food. I now understand the buzz around this place. Just had some tacos. They had a long meat selection. Being my first time I ordered my standard, asada, carnitas and tripas. I must say that these may be the crispiest tripas I have had. The asada was chopped smaller which made the texture easier to chew than some places that might have chewy asada. And the carnitas was crisp and not chopped/shredded which was different but definitely in a good way. The service was quick, and they also had one of the best salsa bars I've seen. Luckily they weren't too busy. The place was smaller than I thought it would be but just more reason to get in there ASAP! Not a bad spot at all for my first Yelp review in 2025.

This was my first time visiting Taqueria La Perla, and after hearing so many great things, I had high expectations--and they didn't disappoint! The restaurant was impressively clean and organized, and the staff was incredibly kind and welcoming. Even though it's a place where you order and pay at the counter, the team went above and beyond, checking on us both while we waited and after we received our food.I ordered the Steak Ranchero plate, and the portion was generous, with tender meat. My only issue was that the asada had a bit too much fat for my taste, but aside from that, the meal was delicious. My boyfriend had the Camarones a la Diabla, which also came in a large portion. We usually prefer our Camarones a bit spicier, and these leaned more towards a sweet tomato flavor with just a hint of spice.To drink, we had the guava strawberry agua, which was amazing! Overall, I'd give this spot a solid 4.2/5

Sac is so lucky to have you Want all of your taco spot boxes ticked? Look no further than Taqueria La Perla Tapatia! If you come here, you can expect great service, ample seating, and cleanliness. I challenge you to find an alternative that delivers on all these fronts WHILE serving tacos that are sub $3. Speaking of their tacos, they are definitely above average when it comes to the quality you'd expect outside of SoCal. Their tripa tacos are an especially yummy option with a nice fried exterior and chewy fat center. They also have a fully stocked salad bar with free chips, something that has become somewhat of a rarity these days. They have a huge menu so even if tacos aren't your thing, they should have you covered (it seems their pozole is very popular). And have I mentioned they even gave us free refills on their large sized aqua frescas? All in all, Taqueria La Perla Tapatia has easily become the new benchmark I compare other Mexican restaurants too and I hope to see more places following in their footsteps!

Overall I do have to give the restaurant 5 stars. It is clean, convenient, well priced, friendly service, and tasty food. We had a variety of tacos, including the birria and super tacos with assorted meats. While they are not the absolute best tacos I've ever had, they are good overall. The standout features are the customer experience, including the clean facilities, indoor seating, and service (we had a server check on us twice in our brief lunch). The salsa bar is packed and full of a variety of salads and vegetables. My Mexican friends have recommended this place and I can see why!
