Taqueria Bonita El Dorado

This is a little place in the town of El Dorado on Hwy 49. We were coming back from Tahoe and saw the open sign. Boy are we glad we stopped!They have a couple of tables outside and a few inside. There is street parking available.The gentleman behind the counter was just wonderful. So warm and friendly.They have breakfast and lunch/dinner plates that you can order any time of day. We had the shrimp fajitas and they were very good. Grilled shrimp with onions and peppers, rice and beans. You also get warm tortillas.Make sure to stop and grab something to eat!

In the foothill town of Diamond Springs, CA, on the El Dorado main drag is a new eatery. It's Taqueria La Bonita. No frills, family ran taqueria. Basic good eats served by friendly folk.The eats... the menu is a nice size. I ordered the pozole ($13.75) which is an everyday menu item as is the chicken tortilla soup and beef birria. No waiting for the weekend. The pozole is a red version served with choice of corn or flour tortillas and a plate of the usual suspects of dried oregano, shredded cabbage, chopped onions, and sliced limes. It was pretty tasty, not bad at all. It was chock full of hominy and cubed pork. The pork was fork tender. I had leftovers. The next day, the pozole tasted even better... more flavorful. The asada crispy taco $4 was packed with meat and served with sour cream and guacamole. That too was not bad; tasty. They serve complimentary chips n red salsa thats brought straight to the table. The chips were sturdily light n crisp. Yum. The salsa was delicious, kicky mild medium.The building is a simple setup with a small covered outdoor porch and a smallish sized dining room, not ideal for a large gaggle of folks. It's counter service with the food brought out to you.

An outrageously amount of onions in our burritos. Hardly any meat. My husband and I felt targeted for him being Mexican and me being white. No way could that have been accidental. It is sad that they will lose our business from now on, as my husband and I enjoy taquerias. Also, my dad told us that he had an awful experience at Taqueria La Bonita. (if you see all of my other reviews of places, I rarely give anyone less than 3-4 stars).

Just pass Poor Reds, is a hidden gem called Taqueria La Bonita. The staff is friendly and the prices are what you'd expect. We ordered the wet burrito with steak and chicken nachos. My husband ordered double steak on his burrito and you could definitely tell it was double. Both items were delicious, probably some of the best we've had and we eat at a lot of Mexican restaurants!

Good service, coool ambience, great authentic Mexican food especially for the area me and my son come here often and being Hispanic we know good Mexican food

Their chicken tortilla soup is one of the best I've had. Their refried beans are also money.

This place is not authentic. The girl at the counter was great, but the lady who was cooking gave us RBF because we had asked for spicy salsa which we were told to use tapatia because they only have mango salsa.It was hot as hell in there and they wanted to charge 40 for 2 tacos, and a burrito. The poor girl at the register doesn't deserve to take the brunt of their lack of authenticity and customer service. The horrible woman in the back needs to take.that responsibility. We will not return.

We placed a large order in advance for an event. Pork enchiladas with green sauce, beef enchiladas with red sauce, cheese quesadillas, refried beans and rice with all the fixings. The food was excellent, and was the perfect amount. This is a family run restaurant that takes pride in their food.
