Taqueria El Puerta

I'm from San Diego and was visiting and craved tacos. Saw this was a new place and wanted to check it out. Guys this place was a 15/10. We tried to go back the next day but couldn't make their hours.Had their taquitos, a bean and cheese burrito, and a potato and chorizo burrito.First of all you have a choice between pinto and refried which is wonderful! We went with refried and believe you me - the beans were absolutely great. That and the chorizo was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Service was absolutely fantastic. We were checked in on numerous times while we were there. I also mentioned I liked sour cream once and they ensured that for every plate we got extra on the side - super attention to detail.Please note they stop serving breakfast at a certain point in the day but next time will have to try those as well.They had numerous salsas but special shoutout for their refreshing green one.It's a small place with 4/5 tables inside and when it's warm there are tables outside.Plenty of parking outside as it's at the corner of a strip mall.All in all this is going to be my go to when I travel to Sacramento - and take it from me, a San Diegan who is surrounded by the best tacos around, this is the place to go!

WHY WE WENT HERE:- lunchTHE LOOK (FROM THE OUTSIDE):- in a plaza located off Gateway Park Blvd and Goldenland Ct- located in the opposite side of the plaza as SK Auto Repair- parking shared with neighboring businesses- enclosed outdoor seating available with umbrellas and an awningTHE LOOK (FROM THE INSIDE):- type of place to order upfront and either take it to-go or seat yourself; if you seat yourself you're provided with a table/order number to place on your table so when your food is ready they'll bring it up to you where you're seated- salsa bar- butcher block-esque tables and chairsTHE MENU:- breakfast burrito- taco- burritos- torta- plates- sopas- kids menu- sides- drinks- chalkboard of "new menu items"WHAT WE ORDERED:- asada chimichanga- street tacos - adobada, carne molida, lengua, cabezaTHE TASTE:- asada chimichanga - HUGE! could comfortably feed 2 people or 1 SUPER hungry person; SO thoroughly enjoyed this- street tacos - adobada, carne molida, lengua, cabeza weren't badCUSTOMER SERVICE:- friendly, warm, welcoming, fast

2nd time coming here for lunch. Wife ordered the taco plate(lunch special 2x taco +rice/beans) I ordered a el pastor regular wet burrito. Everything tasted great like the first time. Salsa bar had good tasting salsa which we loved the spice levels. Will definitely come here again and refer to anyone in the area that is crazy Mexican food. Our go to spot for crispy tacos WAS at another spot around the way but will come only here from now on. Area seems a bit hidden but a gem

So excited to have found this place since I'm new to the area. It will definitely be my new go-to for Mexican food. We ordered a carne asada California burrito with refried beans, a birria super burrito with pinto beans, and a pineapple agua fresca. Both burritos were delicious but the flavor of the birria was so good that I preferred it over the asada. One thing to mention is that there was an extra charge of $1.75 for the birria meat, but it was worth it. The pineapple agua fresca was refreshing and not super sweet. The chips and salsa bar were fresh and tasty. Service was quick and the lady who took our order at the register was friendly. There's seating inside and outside, and there's some nice patio lights for the outdoor tables. Will definitely be coming back to try their other menu options since I saw they serve menudo and pozole too!

Amazing quality tacos. My favorite was the chicken street taco. My partner really loved the al pastor street taco and we liked all the salsas from the salsa bar. I will definitely be back to try a burrito next time. The service was very fast and friendly. It was clean and comfortable inside. Lots of parking too. If you can, support this new business!

This place has no service, just order and eat. The food is lukewarm and bland tasting. The enchilada sauce tastes like canned tomato cream cold and runny. The music playing is too loud for the workers not for the customers. It's way too noisy for customers to talk to each other. The food is of low quality and I don't recommend this restaurant at all.

A nice unopposing place to grab a quick bite to eat with solid staples. Had the special plate with carnitas, the food came out super quick and was good. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Awesome staff, great variety of salsas, all you can eat chips, delicious food. Very clean with indoor and outdoor seating. Very casual ambiance. Food is make very quickly.

I love great customer service, and this place has great customer service. I had to run some errands on my lunch break and stopped in and grabbed a taco, because I was short on time. I really wish I would have got more food, because this taco was amazing. I will definitely be back.

Delicious! I've had the taco plate, wet burrito, CA burrito, regular burrito & enchiladas. All were delicious. The sides aren't watered down either. Favorite item would be crispy tacos and enchiladas.
