Taco Loco Taqueria

1/18/2025: First-Born Daughter and I are bumbling, skulking Nevada City CA. Perusing the streets' and buildings' old architecture is like experiencing traveling in a Time Machine into the 1800's . . . We inadvertently stumbled upon a peaceful rally assembled while skulking the streets via the Chamber of Commerce which was enlightening, indeed . . . Then, out to the right of viewing the peaceful assembly we noticed: HEY--LOOK!!!! THAT RESTAURANT IS OPEN! Hurriedly, we rushed inside deciding inhaling Mexican Cuisine. Anyway, I asked my Daughter whether the Taco Loco Taqueria' menu serves authentic Mexican Cuisine which she confirmed by speaking to the Head Chef in Espanol--they only create foods from where they originated.Burrito Bowl: 5 Out Of 5 StarsShredded BeefBeansAvocado SalsaSour CreamRed Spicy SalsaDaughter inhaled four Quesabirria beef tacos with consommé, i.e., a delectable broth which she expressed as "Muy delicioso, Chef!"We'll be baaaaaaack!

i've tried this place a few times and it never disappoints! the burritos are always delicious and the Quesabirria tacos are also really good!the churros are not good tho, very dry and not super flavorful.

This place was so great. The staff is super kind and accommodating. The food has great portions and was super fresh. I had the super burrito. The rice was just how my family makes it, and the chicken had great flavor and I had huge chunks in my burrito. My friend had the super nachos and they gave a generous portion. She had chicken with it and she thought it was delicious too. They also provide chips and salsa for your table. To drink I had their agua Fresca. It was pineapple and pepino (cucumber) I think. It was refreshing, just the right amount of sweet and I ordered a large. It was huge!The place is super clean and inviting. It reminds me of a lot of my favorite places in the bay, and SoCal. Also I really loved that they play music videos and you can hear them throughout the restaurant. Super cool touch. We were a little anxious from a previous experience from a bad restaurant before we came to this taqueria. So we ended up taking the food home. The cashier was super nice and gave us boxes and bags for us to pack up. I will definitely be back to this place on my next visit to Nevada city. Please check this place out! You won't regret it!

The place itself is pretty basic: You order your food and drinks at the counter and pay. They'll give you a number to take to any table you'd like and they'll bring your order over once it's ready. The margarita was just ok, draft Modelo was good, but the food was very good! I recommend the carne asada taco and the al pastor taco. Complimentary chips for the table, salsa bar with many options for you to pick your own fresh hot sauces.

We saw they had Mexican seafood on the menu so we had to stop and try it out! I was honestly so impressed with how delicious this aguachiles was. My mom loves making this for me back home so when we saw it here, we knew we had to get it. IfYou enjoy trying to new things and love chili, I highly recommend giving this dish a try. But honestly just by looking at their menu and the ingredients they use, you can't go wrong with anything. It's as authentic as it will get for Nevada city!

Best free salsa bar I've ever seen. Good service. Good prices. Great food. Open when many of the other local restaurants are closed. Beer and margaritas. Be warned: the spicy stuff is seriously spicy! Recommended.

This kind of feels like a hole in the wall (in a good way) but everyone knows about it. This restaurant serves authentic and reasonably priced Mexican food. We've had a variety of tacos and burritos here and they're all good. A highlight for my son is the breakfast burrito. In fact he's begged me to make the hour and a half drive here on more than one occasion just for the chorizo burrito. Good news- it's served all day!

This little side restaurant is off the Main Street was wonderful. The food was very flavorful and was ready pretty quickly. This place has flavored margaritas in addition to the common beer types for a Mexican restaurant. There were six of us, and our food came no more than 15 minutes after we ordered. I would definitely come here again.

Awesome food, great service, super friendly. Their salsas are amazing and so is the Chile relleno.

My new favorite (and only) go to for Mexican food. Most recently I enjoyed Chile Relleno with side of rice and beans delivered via Door dash. Arrived quickly, hot and was delicious. As always, the portions were generous - 2 meals for me . My first measure of a Mexican restaurant is good refried beans. I love them & Taco Loco does not disappoint. The Chile Relleno was excellent and I highly recommend their burritos.
