We had a great meal and enjoyed visiting with Mr, Rodney. Best BBQ we've had in a long time. Highlights were the BBQ Chicken, Hillbilly sandwich, Mac & Cheese, and Tater Tots!!

I came in 15 minutes before closing because I was starving from a very long day on the road. Mr. Rodney the owner and pit master greeted me very kindly and took my order. I had the tri-tip sandwich. And a banana pudding.I started talking with Mr. Rodney, I asked if he was originally from Texas. And he said he spent half his childhood in Texas and half in Washington state. I put two and two together and figured Mr. Rodney was a Military kid. I asked him, and sure nuff he said yeah both parents. His restaurant smells so heavenly from the bbq pits out back. It brought back memories of my travels to Texas, Memphis, NC and Nola. The banana pudding is just like my Great grandma made. His restaurant has some very nice murals of Black Soldiers. Talking to Mr. Rodney I felt an awesome connection. Next time I come to Sacramento I'm definitely coming back here. The tri-tip sandwich was smoked to perfection. And the banana pudding was fantastic!!!I highly recommend this place!!!So sorry no pictures of the sandwich I was too hungry!!

I cooked for a living for 15 years and was astounded at the condition of this place when I walked in. Everywhere you look there are just piles of stuff everywhere, and then he has a kitchen table and a chair and a TV set up like he lives there. The table is just full of stuff that he is eating and drinking, and the table itself is very dirty. The collard greens had absolutely no flavor. Collard greens are cooked with bacon, onions, and mushrooms, not just boiled all by themselves. The cornbread was about two days old when he served it to me. Someone please call the health inspector because this place needs to be shut down.

Grabbed food ToGo and was really impressed with both the ribs and the baked beans! Both deserve more than 5 stars. The corn bread was really solid, too. We had excellent service and quite enjoyed our food. Thanks T&R!

Was really expecting something magical. Its BBQ not Brain Surgery.Bunch of vehicles in the parking lot looked like the place to go, go in and only one person standing there, a counter lady who could not answer anything, and one staff in the back cooking? I got two 4 ways, tri-tip, pork ribs,, chicken leg+thigh and hot links, mac n cheese, beans, slaw, collard greens and cornbread, it also comes with a stack of white bread. Two meals at 67.00 and some change including a small tip.-Tri-tip tasted like it was reheated several times.-Pork ribs was cooked through but no meat despite it being large cut of ribs.-Chicken was raw, completely raw internally, very disappointing, it really looked like food bank chicken it was very large and skin on. Super bummer I was really looking forward to eating the massive thigh and leg.-The Hotlinks are hot links, cant mess that up.- Slaw was something my ex girlfriend made. No pizazz or flavor.-mixed bushes baked beans n doctored up with a chili powder-corn bread ok and white bread ok...its bread.after the off flavors and raw chicken I did not want to eat anything else.-Prior to eating- Meal came out and I was excited I could smell the bbq all the way home, opened my box and everything had bbq sauce all over it. like they was hiding the bloody chicken? I don't know.-I should have taken my wife out for $60.00 PLUS MEALHalf the price could have gotten the piggy plater at BuckhornPrime Rib 3 course at Hardrock casino in PlumasMo's would have been 50.00 or so and not swimming in sauce. Coulda bought out jack in the crack for the entre menu.Could tell this is not people who do BBQ. Service with a sneer and medium rare chicken. I like positive energy when getting food or receive anything to ingest.

Sweet potato tater tots are amazing... I would give 5 stars just for those alone, but they are often sold out.

Based on other reviews, you either love it or hate it...This appears to be a small operation. If you want fast food, don't stop (The prep time is a bit long). If you want customer service and to be served, don't stop (They appear to have minimal staff). If you want exactly what you want, don't stop (They may be out of the menu item of your choice.). If you are particular about how you eat your food, order with caution. (All meats are covered with BBQ sauce. There was no indoor seating, and some outdoor seating- Giving it a street food vibe. ****My personal experience****The ribs were FIRE so finger licking good and tender. I do not usually eat ribs-glad I did. The chicken was amazing, my meal came with a leg and thigh- not sure if they do other pieces. Sides were all delicious.I would definitely go back!

My mother wants some barbecue and potato salad, so I'm headed to this place about noon. I got there. It said the sign said it would be open at noon, but it wasn't so I called the phone number on the wall. The phone rang. No answer no voicemail I hung up drove out of the parking lot. Saw a young man throwing away trash and asked him. Would the restaurant be open today he said in about 30 to 40 minutes. So I called the place after 1 o'clock and asked the young man was he open for business his remark and reply was we're always open, so I said OK thank you hung up, I got four slices of ribs with some potato salad that wasn't even cooked well and he still had the same ignorant attitude when I got there I will never go back to that restaurant again bad customer service on the phone and in person how do you expect people to order from your business with the negative attitude Good luck with your business and your attitude needs to be adjusted

Well this is my first barbecue in California since leaving the hell hole known as Florida.I got the tri-tip steak sandwich at $14 I thought it was a little pricey but it being California and such I guess it's reasonable. They do not have nor do people know of a tri-tip in been fucked up Florida. The sandwich was on a roll approximately 8 inches long with tender slices of tri-tip and a barbecue sauce. I found the barbecue sauce on the thin side and not as spicy as I expected it to be.Now the three side items I ordered.....First the macaroni pasta salad. A little thin on the sauce and not much flavor. Actually on the bland side. You need to black pepper or salt to enhance it.Coleslaw I found the coleslaw quite delightful little on the creamy side though the cabbage was crispy...a tad bit tasty....I also got the Texas barbecue beans. It was still very hot in the container on the spicy side which I contribute to having a touch more cumin than necessary. A little bit of hot pepper would actually be a better addition.I had this pre-order on Uber eats. Their website said that they open at 11 AM. And I would get a delivery between 12 and 1230. The driver arrived at 11:45 and they were still not open..They were closed because they were doing a catering job and she had to wait a half hour to pick up my order..Overall the food was very good and so so so much better than anything I found in Florida...

I really wanted some good bbq and Momo's is permanently closed so I decided to try something new. I will say I'm so upset I wasted 32 dollars. I got the 3 way with 3 sides and the Mac and cheese was $2 dollars extra. All the meat was covered in sauce and somehow the meat was cold but sauce was hot also no flavor or seasoning. Mac and cheese was decent I wouldn't order it again but not the worst. Beans taste like they just put chili powder in them and they weren't hot just a little warm. The green beans omg taste like they just poured them straight out the can. No flavor no salt nothing. Overall I would give them a 0 out of 10. Don't waste your money at all. I knew when I walked in just from the condition something told me to leave but the food smelled good. Talk about being catfished smh.
