Less than two years after I fell in love with this sushi restaurant, I'm farthest from in love and don't expect to return. Check out the menu pricing. $48.99+ tax for 8 pc sashimi, 4 pieces nigiri and a "special" roll. Exorbitant. And they claim under new management but the same man is behind the fish counter. And I understood he had bought it around a year ago.Unbelievable.

What a hidden gem! My hubby and I were in the area and stopped here for lunch. Danny was our sushi chef and he is definitely an artist!! Super friendly staff, great service, and every dish we ordered was mouth watering amazing! We even got to sample a few items, per chef's creation. We have been to many sushi/sashimi places and yet the quality of the food here is in leagues of its own. It's nice when your chef knows his craft! We plan to return and are willing to drive the distance. Highly recommend you give this place a shot!

Second time here and it's as good as it was the first time. Another customer was raving about the Taco appetizer so we ordered it. It was an amazing fun yummy surprise. We had no idea what to expect but were very happy! We had 5 other rolls all excellent! The staff is so friendly and even celebrated a birthday for us we had. It was so sweet! I can't wait to go back and try more!!! Seems like a whole in the wall excellent find!!!!

Reasonably priced veggie sushi options can be found here. They're basic, but for the price I would say it's worth stopping in for. Sushi Star is in a little strip mall behind a Walgreens and located a few doors down from Corner Pocket, which is likely why they stay open to 10pm on weekends. A section of the menu is labeled "Vegetarian Rolls" but most of them are actually vegan. There's also a few veggie appetizer standards: edamame, seaweed salad, sunomono. They also have inari.The seaweed salad was an actual salad... it came served on a bed of spring greens. I liked it. We also tried the AAC (avocado, asparagus, cucumber) and Veggie Rolls. Both were good, but the Veggie Roll was modified to what was actually listed on the menu. It was still tasty though. I liked how the veggie rolls come sauceless by default so I don't have to ask for them to be removed to keep it vegan. Basic = easy.Service was average here, so all in all I would come back when I'm looking for another quick bite of vegan sushi and don't feel like making it myself.

Fantastic experience! We stopped by this place for the first time a week or so ago and will most definitely be returning. We ordered oysters on the half shell and a couple of sushi rolls. The oysters were garnished beautifully and were absolutely delicious! The sushi rolls were great, too. May was the person who help us. She was a little beam of sunshine. Genuinely nice and very attentive. The restaurant was also clean and had a welcoming atmosphere. Keep up the good work Sushi Star, see you guys soon!

Great customer service and even better food.. They messed up and gave me steak & shrimp instead of steak & chicken and they fixed it promptly and were apologetic. First time trying this place and will be back. Lots of food for the price.

5 stars for Sushi Star!! The restaurant is so clean and the staff are very friendly! The oysters are delicious, and so is the fried rice ...and of course the sushi :P I was taken to Japan in Citrus Heights! Great spot!
