Sunshine Donuts

My usual donut place was closed. So, I hopped on Yelp to see where I might find a chocolate cruller. I didn't even know Sunshine Donuts was nearby.A small place, but very clean with some seating inside. I was greeted in a friendly manner upon entering. The selection wasn't bad considering it was afternoon.And the had chocolate crullers! I ordered two and thought they may have placed something extra in the bag, but wasn't watching that close.After paying and getting out to the van, sure enough - a glazed cruller had been added to the order. Katie enjoyed it!Crullers are my favorite because of the texture of the dough. It is almost like a crepe, with what I describe as an "eggy" feel or flavor. These not only had that, but a wonderfully substantial icing as well. Growing up in the '70s, I remember occasionally enjoying a Dolly Madison or Hostess chocolate cupcake. The icing on those was at least an eighth of an inch thick. You could literally lift the whole thing off the cake like a disc. And the vanilla swirl of icing down the middle stood on top of the chocolate, obviously a separate process and product altogether. Compare that to what Hostess became before they went out of business. The chocolate icing was a thin veneer or film over the cupcake and that vanilla swirl was just a change in color of the film. So, I have an appreciation for the texture of the icing on a donut. The chocolate icing on the crullers is quite luxurious and flavorful. I may have a new go-to for donuts!

I've been coming here for my Ham & Cheese Croissants for more than TWO Years now. They are consistently great. We don't really eat donuts. But I tried quite a few places to find a Ham & Cheese Croissant that my wife LOVES and she LOVES these. The quality of the food is great. The place is very clean. The staff is VERY Friendly. Consistently great for TWO YEARS!!This time I was here I noticed they were glazing some FRESHLY MADE Apple Fritters. Naturally I had to buy a couple and bring them home to my family. They LOVED Them - They were still warm. mmmmmmm

Picking up donuts from my go to shop, great customer service and even better donuts! I grab donuts for work here all the time, office loves them.

OK seriously do not sleep on this place. It is INCREDIBLE! I come here to get their donuts for the family and I get a ham cheese and egg croissant sandwich for myself. That is the star of the show for me as a mom watching her family eat donuts that I can no longer digest No, actually that's not fair to say. It doesn't do it justice. It is THE BEST breakfast croissant sandwich I've ever had in my entire life. I would eat this every single day and not only I would never get sick of it but I genuinely believe that it would extend my life because of the joy it brings with every delicious bite. Unfortunately for me, my wallet and metabolism can't handle it, or I would!Standard, the egg comes fully cooked, but I ask for mine runny. Their cook knows how to make an egg, let me just tell you that! If you like a good, custard-y, over easy egg, and you want to try the best breakfast croissant you've ever had in your life, definitely come here.The staff are so sweet, and they say "see you next time!" on your way out the door. It's gives family-owned, small business, "we really care about you" vibes. Love this spot.

Support local, support family, support donuts! Our family loves ordering these custom birthday treats for the class. It was so easy to stop by 2 days ahead to specify the letters, flavors, and pickup time. We really appreciate the owners' kindness and reliability.

I ordered Sunshine Donuts through Grub Hub today on a whim, and, as a self-described donut aficionado, I was amazed!! I ordered my favorite: chocolate glazed custard filled. I was so excited, I accidentally ordered 2! Whoops! I also got an apple fritter and a (new-to-me) raisin square! I also decided to get a ham, egg and cheese bagel! (This turned out to be an excellent decision!). The donuts arrived perfectly packaged in a colorful box. I'm not sure if the shop did this or my driver, but, there was a fun character hand-drawn on my box that said "Enjoy!" They also wrote "Thank you!" on the box. I thought this was a really nice touch!The donuts were fresh and tasty! I'm very sensitive to when frying oil hasn't been changed frequently enough and this was definitely NOT the case with Sunshine Donuts! My favorite donut was sliced in half and then filled with custard which I think is genius! More custard+evenly distributed = an amazing taste experience! Bravo! Apple fritter was perfectly fried and glazed. I saved the raisin square for my coffee tomorrow!Last, but, certainly not least: the ham, egg and cheese bagel. Let's just say: breakfast heaven! The bagel was soft and chewy, there was tons of egg, ham and melty American cheese all assembled to perfection. They do not skimp on ingredients!! Delicious! I ended up having half for breakfast and the other half for lunch. Sunshine Donuts is a hidden gem, and, I'm sad that I am just now discovering it after living in Sac for almost 7 years! Sunshine Donuts, please never change!

Best donuts I had they are so soft and delicious the blue berry are 10/10 would come back again!

Ordered delivery through door dash. I love that they put my items in a box and not in a paper bag.. they also left me a cute note but on top of my order, they gave me donut holes for free, which was very kind and made my day! I ordered a sprinkled maple bar and strawberry/cream pastry. I didn't take a picture of the bacon-sausage and egg croissant but it was very fresh and fulfilling! The donut holes and maple bar was fresh and soft-- not stale like other places! The pastry was very good too. I will be ordering again. 10/10
