I volunteered here at the beginning of the Pandemic. Love that they are about 15min drive from my house. They serve A LOT of people through a drive through. The volunteers pick up the donated foods, pack them into boxes, then help load them into cars. All the volunteers were friendly and welcoming. If you're interested in volunteering, there are opportunities M-F from 7am to 2pm.

Amazing. I picked up some food as part of a volunteer organization, and I am in a very fortunate position to do so. On the other hand, I did not know how the process works, but the volunteers were so helpful with walking me through it. Vera was one of the volunteers, and she helped me get a client set up. She was very patient with me (we had to yell back and forth at each other through masks and what not haha) in getting all of the correct information. Information that is needed includes name, address, birthday, how many people in the household, and a form of ID. If you have previously been to another food bank in the Sacramento area, they would like for you to have an ID number that is provided for you when you sign up. She was also very kind in sending me a form to have the client sign off a form for me, authorizing me to pick up food on their behalf in the future, and giving me another copy in case I needed it. She also provided me with a reminder card on when they could receive food again. I was told that people could receive food every 30 days (and they would be lenient if someone needed food a few days short of the 30 days). She also asked if I needed pet food, since they also offer that! After setting up a food bank account, she directed me to the right, up the mini hill to where volunteers had a little roundabout set up for me to drive up and have them place food in my car. The volunteers were so kind and are doing so much for the community, especially during these trying times.

They made it very easy to sign up. Just bring your current mail, and a picture ID, and your set. Note, your ID has to say 95621 or 95610 in order to get food there. Food is given once every 30 days per person. The line did not seem too busy either and I sat in their Food Closet office no more then 10 minutes total to get signed up. Food was delivered within 6 minutes of request.I thought I would let those who are disabled know that they have front of the office parking available for those who can't park in the regular lots because of the distance to walk so it makes it easier for those people. And they will help you to your car with the food as well if you choose to.

This review is for the wonderful woman that reached out to me after I left a voicemail about my experience. I think her name was April. She understood and actually reached out to me (wasn't expecting this) and dropped off a bunch of food (good stuff!) on her own time for me and my family. In speaking with her, I could clearly see she has a heart of GOLD. Such kindness is a rarity and I am thankful. They are doing the best they can as we all are.
