Cute little brunch spot in downtown! Service was excellent especially while being busy during rush hour on a Sunday morning! Food top notch! I'll definitely be coming back. The side potato wedges are super yummy. French toast very good. Latte was delicious. The place won't disappoint

The restaurant had a nice look--small but cute. However, we had to wait for our table, and when it was finally ready, it hadn't been cleaned yet. There was also nowhere to put our bags or coats, so we had to place them on the ground.Service was slow; it took a while for someone to take our drink order, and even longer to receive it. They seemed understaffed, so be prepared for a wait. The food was average but had some unique flavors. I'd consider coming back to try other dishes. We ordered the poutine, which was pretty basic--just fries with some gravy and a little bit of bacon. The chicken and waffles were decent, and the syrup really brought everything together. On the plus side, the mimosa was great and helped make the wait more bearable.

The space is small and intimate. There was a small wait but you can get on a wait list, and receive a text when your table is ready. Upon arriving we were seated and brought water right away. It took longer than I would have liked for our orders to be taken. I ordered a matcha latte w/oat milk and a Hilo Moco (their version of a loco Moco) minus the cheese and with an overheard egg. The matcha latte was lukewarm at best and although the Hilo Moco was hot when it came to the table and without cheese, the egg was not overhard. I alerted the staff and requested a new dish because the yolk had ran on the burger patty. When I received the replacement dish, I received the same burger patty. I alerted the staff again and the reaction was one of surprise that I wanted a new burger patty. They did accommodate my request; however the patty they brought back was still the same, it had cooked egg on it. So, needless to say, I, unfortunately, will not be returning.

Came here with some of my friends for brunch yesterday. We walked in, put our name on the waitlist, walked around the farmers market for a bit, and shortly later our table was ready. Service was good, very friendly, and pretty quick! Our food came out quicker than our coffee orders.I tried ordering the crunchy mascarpone french toast, but they were out... so instead I went with the country waffle with eggs and pork wine ground sausage on the side since my friends were getting the lemon ricotta pancakes and the unagi tornado omelette. My waffle was good, nothing crazy about it since it was just a waffle. It was very moist and fluffy! The eggs and the sausage were good! My friend's lemon ricotta pancakes were really good! And I did really like the unagi tornado omelette too! I'd definitely come here again so I can finally try the mascarpone french toast and see if I can update my review to 5 stars instead of 4.

We all love a new restaurant! We all go in with the expectation of having delicious food, and a great experience!Sunnyside was supposed to be that experience. Sadly, it wasn't. When my BFF brunch buddy and I decided to meet downtown and check out Sunnyside, we were both hoping that this would be a game changer. Based on some of the reviews and the noted lengthy wait time, I tried numerous times to Get on the waiting list for a table, and as it turns out, they weren't accepting names, so I arrived earlier to make sure that I could put our names on the list in case there was an actual waitThe seating in the restaurant in my personal opinion is set up poorly, and the tables need to be rearranged to make it more customer, friendly, and not so close to the door so that the cold air or the hot heat blow in every time someone walks in. When you do walk in, there is a small pad that you can put your name on the list. There absolutely is no waiting room in the restaurant, but some tacky people decided to stand between many of the tables waiting for a table. It's not real comfortable to have someone standing over anyone while they're trying to enjoy their dining experience. The restaurant doesn't do anything to discourage this, nor do they check with people outside, so consequently, it's all Chaos.Thankfully, we receded fairly quickly. Someone eventually brought water over to the table, and menus, and then promptly disappeared. We weren't given an opportunity to order coffee or anything else to drink at that time. As a sidenote, the metal chairs are not super comfortable or inviting. They kind of feel like sitting in someone's backyard at a barbecue. The ambience isn't anything really to write home about. There's nothing really warm and inviting about the limited decor, or quite frankly, even the wait staff. Service is incredibly slow from start to finish, and it wasn't just us. It's the entire restaurant. My speculation is this is why they're waiting time for table service/to be seated, is so long. They are either understaffed, or not prepared for how to turn tables quick enough to have people come in, enjoy a meal and seat the next party. When our order was finally taken, it took forever for the food to come to the table, and when it did, the food was not presented together. It took quite some time for the rest of the food to be brought to the table. It's at moment where you feel like you could be at a friends or a relatives home and you know that you need to Wait because there's one person doing everything. In a restaurant there is the expectation that things flow so much better. The food is expensively disappointing.I ordered the ricotta pancakes and chicken sausage. The tiny bit of fruit that was put on the pancakes doesn't really equate too much. One strawberry cut into several pieces, a grape cut in half, and a small slice of orange on top. Why even bother? Especially for what's being charged for this. The pancakes themselves were just horrible, and a little bit of syrup that was brought with the pancakes, tasted like sugar water. I literally ate maybe one bite of my pancakes, and I just could not eat them. They were not flavorful, they were not tasty. they were not anything but disappointing. The chicken sausage, I don't even know what to say about it because it was so bad. I don't know if they're made in house, but I do know that they were not seasoned, not flavorful, and not edible.I had ordered a Diet Coke with my breakfast since I wasn't able to order a beverage prior to ordering food. Soft drinks are served in a can so it's one and done no refills. My breakfast was $25 before tip. When you look at the pictures, you too, will be disappointed. No one ever stopped by the table to check on us and the food. In fact, it took literally 15 minutes for them to eventually bring the check to the table, and probably another 10 minutes before they returned with the finalize bill/credit card. The one thing that I can say is that despite the lack of service, they're definitely was an attempt when we walked in, and when we left to at least smile and acknowledge us. That literally was the highlight of the entire experience. Definitely not an experience that I would make the hard push to look for parking in or around the location. It's midtown so parking is limited to begin with. There are so many other options, where the food and the price point will be so much better.

Overall: 3.5/5Food: 3.5/5Service: 5/5Price: 4/5Cleanliness: 5/5I found this place on IG through a food video that went viral, so I was super excited to try it. I waited for almost an hour with the line of people outside. The "HYPE" was fasho on level 10! I got the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes and the Unagi Tornado Omelette. And honestly, the food was solid, it was good, but it was not "WOW" at all for me. Lemon Ricotta Pancakes were good, but not WOW. As you can see from the pics, they were a little pale, they could've went a little longer on the griddle. Didn't really taste the ricotta at all, definitely taste the lemon and the slight tartness. It was just cool.Unagi Tornado Omelet ... Good, just not WOW. The eel is cooked perfect, but aside from that, it just tasted super regular. Rice with gravy and egg over it.I can't lie, I think the place right now has a lot of HYPE around it from social media, but I think the HYPE ain't what its cracked up to be. 1 hour wait, relatively pricey and the food is just "cool"? Will I doubleback... Prolly not.

3.5/5 : Yuzu Benedict The eggs were cooked very well for the benedict. I did like yuzu, salmon, and pickled onions together. I only wish there was more pickled onions to balance out the salmon and sauce. The potatoes that came with it were actually pretty good. I love the crispy outside of it. 5/5 Blackstone Omelet I did not have the omelet but was told it was 5/5 along with the potatoes that it came with. We were really happy that they offered sides because our toddler would not have ate off the kids menu. Nothing wrong with it, she is just a picky eater right now. She had a side of bacon (came with 3), bowl of fruits, and a side of fries. This was great for her because she ate all of it! We even tried the fries and loved it! The restruant itself is nice and clean with plenty of seating. The host and waiter were very nice and accommodating to us. Overall we enjoyed our experience here! Will come back to try other items.

Sunday, 2/09/2025 - Tried "Sunny Side Breakfast & Asian Fusion" in mid town Sacramento for lunch today. Address is 1221 19th St, Sacramento, CA 95811. It is paid street parking, unless you're lucky and you find a 2 hr visitor parking. I wasn't lucky. My friends were lucky. There's no reservation available. It's first come first serve. We were 8th on the wait list. This little restaurant was pretty busy. Every table was full. Upon arrival....Pros1) once it was our turn to get a table, they provided us each a cup of water right away. The table was clean. Funny thing was, I had a child's high chair for me. I thought that was funny. Made me laugh. I just moved the high chair and switch it for another chair. The server was very apologetic. I didn't mind the laugh. 2) we asked for lemon for our water and they brought it right away. 3) it didn't take long for the server to come take our orders. 4) our drinks were good. Match latte was good. Not sweet. Water tasted good. No funky or odd taste. 5) All of our food dish were good. Except for the Hilo Moco. Hilo Moco was just okay. But the rest of the dishes were pretty good.6) we got our water refill once. Just once.7) there are 2 bathrooms with one stall in each. It's for men or women. Clean, when I used it. 8) Cons1) they never checked back with us if we needed anything else or wanted to order anything else. 2) they didn't clean the dirty dishes on our table. When a diff server happened to drop by our table to fill our water cups, we had to ask them to remove our dirty plates. 3) when our server brought us our tab, seeing that we had left over foods on our table, he didn't ask if we wanted to-go boxes. We had to ask him for it. We had 3 boxes. I had to find a server at another table and ask for a bag to carry all 3 boxes. 4) the Hilo Moco was dry and the rice a little on the hard side. It was just a... meh... dish. It may be different for you. But for us, we didn't like it. Conclusion This was a very cute little restaurant. They are pretty busy and didn't check in with us after delivering us our foods. But the foods were good, bathroom clean, and they didn't rush us to get out when we were catching up and celebrating a birthday. Parking was a little hard for me. But my friends found parking. I like this little spot and go here again.

This is the best breakfast spot in Sac. I hate to blow it up more, because the wait can already be an hour or more on Saturday and Sunday, but it is so good, they deserve the business (and you deserve yo know about it!)In particular they have hands-down the best benedicts anywhere near Sacramento.

We were brave and decided to visit Sunny Side on a Saturday for brunch around 10:30am. We were expecting a long wait, but were able to add our name to the Yelp Waitlist kiosk and only waited maybe 10-15 minutes for a table of four. The restaurant is bright and has many four top and two top tables. While the restaurant is on the smaller side there's space between the tables so it doesn't feel claustrophobic. The team there welcomed us in and we all looked over the menu. I was between getting the unagi and a Benedict so my husband decided to get the Benedict so I could try a bite. The menu has a lot of options and there's a good variety of sweet/savory.I ordered the unagi tornadoes omurice ($24), my husband got the Jungle Benedict ($17) plus a side of bacon ($6) and we each ordered the bottomless mimosa option ($23 per person). We also ordered the sunrise poutine and substituted wedges instead of tots ($13) for the table. Our friends ordered the lemon ricotta pancake ($14) and waffle and crispy chicken ($22) and each ordered a coffee- caramel macchiato ($7) & coconut latte ($7).They have five different flavor mimosas- orange, peach, passion fruit, grapefruit and raspberry lemonade. We ended up trying all but the peach (we forgot it was an option) and they were good. We each ended up having four during our meal which, with girl math, makes ordering the bottomless option worth it. Our server was attentive and made sure to continue offering refills during the meal.Personally, I don't feel like alcohol elevates my dining experiences so I'd probably skip next time- again personal preference- but it was fun to try the different flavor options. Our friends enjoyed their coffees but weren't wowed by them. They seem more like a compliment to the breakfast options than an area of focus, which is normal for breakfast/brunch spots. We dug into the sunrise poutine as soon as it hit the table and it came out hot and fresh. You'll want to blow on the potatoes before trying to chow down, I definitely was a bit overexcited. They were delicious though and had a tasty gravy and the bacon with it was delicious. The food came out pretty quickly and all was presented beautifully. The star was definitely the Unagi tornado Omurice and I shared some with my friends. This dish was flavorful, filling and I'm so glad I ordered it. I liked that it came with a little pickled ginger too.My husband thought his Benedict was ok, he wasn't wowed by it, but the potatoes that came with it were really crispy and tasted good. Also, can't go wrong with bacon, so he was satisfied but didn't end up finishing his.Our friend loved his ricotta pancakes and the fruit that came with it was really fresh. Our friend with the chicken and waffles was a bit underwhelmed and said the chicken seemed a bit overcooked, but enjoyed the gochujang syrup. I had a little bite and really liked the chicken with the gochujang syrup myself. I think my husband would have liked this dish the best though. The team was very attentive and they came around to refill waters throughout the meal. They do have two gender neutral restrooms and they were also clean.I would come back again to try more from the menu.
