Sugarland Horse Park

This site needs more reviews! I have been boarding my horse Jack here for about a year now and couldn't be happier. I live about 30 min away but it's worth the drive. There is something here for everyone and with 4 arenas and 2 round pens there is always somewhere to ride, not to mention accessible trails and agg roads. There are events and clinics held regularly which is awesome, with several resident trainers available. The prices are very fair for the services and facility. The quality of the feed is top notch and baled right down the street. I can say nothing but good things about the management. When my horse went through a colic episode this fall the entire barn was very supportive, throughout the day management would send me updates and pictures of my horse which really meant a lot to me. At any given time I can come and the arenas are watered and groomed. All I can say is come check it out for yourself :-)

I went on a trail ride over the weekend. It was my first time riding a horse so I was a bit nervous at first. But the staff is super friendly so it helped ease my nerves. After getting on my horse, Mr. Bee, I was given a quick tutorial on how to tell the horse to stop and how to turn left or right. Pretty simple! I had such an amazing experience. The trail ride is about an hour long and the horses were so well behaved that I felt really safe. It felt so relaxing riding around the ranch and enjoying the nice peace and quiet. It's nice to have a location close to Sacramento for horseback riding. I had a LivingSocial deal that got me a trail ride for $19.00/person. I believe their normal rate is around $38.00/person. If you enjoyed your ride, be sure to tip your guide! I totally didn't know and failed to bring any cash with me so I felt horrible for not tipping! :( But thank you so much for an amazing first time experience!

Absolutely love this place. My friend rides and trains my daughter here as well. It's got a lot of arenas so it's perfect for new riders. My daughter is getting into learning how to barrel race and has ridden bareback now too. The rodeos during the summer are fun and can't wait for next season since we only caught one this year.

Great staff and instructors, best "beginner horse" ever. Love the people and the whole feel of the place.

Operating at the old "Historic Nelson Ranch" the Sugarland Horse Park equestrian center is under new ownership and new management. They have poured a ton of money into cleanup and maintenance. The owners also purchased the adjacent property call the Best Ranch on road Best Ranch Road. The horseback riding starts from the Best ranch and meanders through the farm fields over to Sugarland and back to Best Ranch. The trail rides take about an hour and the horses and the staff are friendly. Close to Sacramento, about 10 minutes from the Sacramento International Airport in Woodland. Check them out.

My friends and I went on a trail ride at Sugarland Horse Park and we had an amazing experience. We actually did a photoshoot and the staff was very nice and accommodating. Our guide helped place our horses into the positions that our photographer asked and the pictures turned out really nice. After the photoshoot we went on a short walk and our guide answered all of our curious questions! I will definitely be going back. They made us feel very safe riding the horses and I felt like I could continue doing it for a long time. Overall I had an amazing experience and I think everyone who ever wanted to go horseback riding should go here.

Not sure what happened to my previous review but my daughter's first "barnyard" birthday party (at the petting zoo at Best Ranch) was so much fun that my son has requested a "buckaroo" birthday party at Sugarland Horse Park. Can't wait!

Our family of four took horseback riding lessons here today. Our lesson was 2 hours with Sarah. We had the most wonderful experience! Sarah was so patient with all of us. She took the time to explain everything she was doing and showed us proper horse care. Everyone we encountered at the ranch was so nice and friendly. Even people boarding their horses there stopped by to let us pet their horse or guide us in some direction. We will definitely be back here soon. Kris was very accomodating squeezing us in on short notice and responds quickly to emails and phone calls. Just an overall memorable experience.
