Our brief time at Step 1 Dance and Fitness left a lasting impression on both my 4-year-old and me. Although we had to pause our visits due to my child's stage fright, I feel compelled to share our positive experience. The coaches at Step 1 are truly exceptional. Their dedication and warmth created a welcoming environment where my little one felt comfortable and truly enjoyed her time. My daughter formed wonderful connections with her fellow dancers, and the camaraderie among the little friends was heartwarming. It's clear that Step 1 Dance and Fitness fosters a sense of community and friendship among its young participants.Unfortunately, my child's stage fright became a temporary obstacle for us, and we had to put our classes on hold. Despite this, I wanted to acknowledge the positive impact Step 1 had on my daughter during her time there.I highly recommend Step 1 Dance and Fitness to parents looking for a fun environment for their children to learn and grow. Hopefully, we can overcome the stage fright hurdle and return to this fantastic dance and fitness community in the future.

This studio has great instructors with beautiful studios. There is something here for everyone, and they have something for just about every schedule, whether you're after Zumba for fitness, or ballet for your kids. For adults they have hip hop, Zumba, heels, all sorts of things. They have so much offered at so many different times, you might be able to take your own class while your child is in his or her own class. Few other studios offer such a nice selection for all ages. It really is a good dance studio! There is lots of free parking, too! I like that the owners saw my daughter's potential and put her in a higher level class right away. We were really excited for what these classes could bring. I like how kind & caring the owners are. Their instructors are absolute professionals! My daughter felt like her class was everything she sought in a hip hop class. We would have stayed here, but... My teenager was a student here until recently. She was in a high school hip hop class after competing in dancesport for years. The girls in her hip hop class were so jealous of her, so nasty and mean. They actively bullied her and made her unwelcome. She didn't even know their names or why they acted this way. Jealousy does weird things to insecure people. The owner, who genuinely cared about stopping things, tried to devise a solution to the problem, but the girls were so heinous week after week, we decided to just leave. She's going back to dancesport where people have more class & decorum because, regardless how you feel about someone, you HAVE to leave it outside to get things done, especially when you compete. It's got a more mature, professional quality. It's too bad the ghetto/gang/Mean Girls mentality of hip hop permeates all aspects of hip hop dancing because it really does look fun. All my teenager wanted was a new experience. If I ever hear that these wicked, nasty embarrassments (really, their parents should be embarrassed) are gone from this studio, we will come back.

This is a first impression review. Front desk person was very sweet; for the short time we spoke. I attempted to bring my 4 yo to dance class. She started the class very excited; smiling from ear to ear. As she walked into the class, she was still smiling. The male instructor never acknowledged her at all. After about 3 mins she sat there balling her eyes out. The instructor never once turned around and acknowledged that either. Her Dad had to go into the room and get her. Instructor never once turned around and acknowledged anything. Now I could some what understand if it were an older crowd, however 3/4 yo ? I absolutely expect more. Again, this doesn't reflect on the business at all and I'm considering trying again with a different instructor to start off. The other kids seemed to be having a great time.

This by far is the best dance class to go to, to learn all sort of dances, from Ballet Lessons, to hip hop, pop, zumba, & break dance. Step 1 Dance & Fitness studio is located in Midtown, and has four large, bright, air-conditioned studios. And offer classes seven days a week. Keep in mind, all the dance studios have see through windows, so everyone in the hallway can watch you & dancers next to you dance with compassion. When I first came in, I felt the amazing energy, diversity, and commitment from the students like me to learn how to dance, and especially from the instructors from a wide range of backgrounds and performance experience in the dance genres they teach.Step 1 offers; beginners, intermediate, and advance lessons... Walk-ins are welcome and rates vary by class, for me, for beginners class that Ive been going, costs only $10. If you're an adult looking to break out of the hum-drum fitness mode of going to the gym, or interested in taking their first ever Fierce Funk or Zumba class, you'll also be amazed at the community and family spirit of support and love for dance and movement here at Step I. Side note: If you have a child/children and is interested for them to learn how to dance, there is a cut-off for registration for choreography-based youth classes that perform in the Winter and Spring Recitals. Call or speak to the front desk for more information at (916) 448-7837.In all seriousness. ENJOY! Dance... Dance... Dance... Like no one's watching. Practice makes perfect! Namm sayinn.. Oh, and keep in mind, the most well known dance crew nationwide 'The Jabbawokeez' represent this place a long time ago.... From America's Best Dance Crew also known as The ABDC! So Step 1 has a very great reputation on what they teach.

Step 1 Dance and Fitness is like my second home. I started dancing 5 years ago and I would not be the dancer I am without Step 1. Dance Classes: Super cheap and inexpensive. I go to Myles' Hip Hop class on Monday. Super friendly, and the classes have about 20-25 people. I go every week and I love meeting the people there. I also recommend Vincent's Hip Hop class on Tuesday. Both of these classes helped me shape my dance skills. (pick-up, precision, timing) Location: Parking is great. There's on-street parking on both sides. Step 1 is not located on a super busy intersection, so it's safe to walk. There's also street parking and parking lots all around the studio. It's amazing!Environment: Mary and Pepper are in charge of the studio and they are extremely nice and personable. I love coming here before I take class to hang out and talk. There is a wide variety of people that come in and out of the studio. Most of them are children 6-10, parents, and college students. I always recommend to my friends coming here if they want to take a dance class. It's super cheap and caters to both beginner dancers, intermediate dancers, and people who just want to find a fun way to work out!

I love this stuido!!! Such a great environment for my child. I have been here for a year and have never had a bad intention with an instructor . The teachers here are so kind and well trained. They are accommodating to schedules and understanding of vacations and family events. My daughter has become such an excellent dancer because of step one. I would definitely recommend this studio for beginners and those who had more training in dance.

ok so I used to go here but I stopped because I was on vacation when it was the day of the ballet recital which I was happy about because I hated this place. the reason why I hated this place is because of Ms Erica who is very rude and acts like a karen. She also brags to people about how "great" we are (which we aren't because she teaches ballet bad). also Ms Erica favors her students and judges our ballet moves even though we try our hardest we can to make it better. one more thing:Ms Erica if ur reading this and if u want to know the reason i wrote most of this review about how bad u are to ur students is because of my friend Ava not the ava with black curly hair, the Ava with short blonde kind of wavy hair, who was also ur former student. also it's not only Ms Erica who I wrote this bad review about, its also about this hip hop teacher named Geno. mr geno is nice but his moves are very embarrassing. it was like he learned his moves from CoComelon. which he was embarrassing his students and himself. this place needs to work on who to pick to be a teacher who actually teaches their students good dance moves and who actually likes going there. so this place for me needs to be better. if it's not then it still deserves a 1/5 stars as it does right now.

Probably need to screen and hire better role models for instructors working with children. Appalled Monica actually posts public photos of open containers of alcohol in a moving vehicle. Not to mention taking glass bottles into our beloved lake Tahoe. I will not recommend this place.
