My coworkers and I wanted pizza for lunch. As we were deciding where to go, I asked if anyone has been to Spanky's? We decided to check it out. As we walked in, we walked in on the bar side, and I thought to myself hmmmm, this will be interesting...or do we turn around and leave??? We stayed, and I'm so glad we did!! The BEST pizza ever!!!! Holy moly I can't wait to have leftovers!! Moral of the story, don't let the outside (even the inside) fool you....the pizza was delicious!!!

The man who took my order over the phone was very kind, he was also very helpful. We got a large meat pizza, wings and the salad... I will say that the chef salad was okay but not worth almost $15. The pizza was good, the crust being the best part. I'm confused about the pastrami lunch meat that was on the pizza, other than that it was good. If I ever order from this place again I will make sure to ask for a little extra sauce and no pastrami.

Last night at 7:30. 3 young firefighters came off of the fireline on the mosquito fire. They wanted pizza. They had heard spanky's was the best pizza in Placerville. They missed dinner at camp and were hungry. They were still in their rig and completely geared up and drove straight to the pizza parlor. Arriving 30 minutes before the time the parlor would close. They were turned away. There's several things that are important to know about these 3 men. The 1st one being that they came all the way from Tennessee to help us. The 2nd being these are firefighters saving our asses our asses our property, And desperately trying to keep us safe. They had been working for the previous 12 hours straight. They were tired, They were hungry. You turned them away.I'll never buy your pizza again if it's the last pizza on Earth I will do withoutYthsta Resovich

True (unassuming) gem! I have lived in the area for most of my life and even a stones throw away from this place for 5 years in the early 2000s. I was always aware of Its' existence but never gave it a shot. I can't even count how many times I would drive by and say something like "oh hey..Spanky's. I wonder what it's like in there". I never heard anyone talk about it so I just figured it wasn't worth my time or money. Fast forward to recently, my husband works at a restaurant in town and many of his coworkers have great taste and recommendations for local cuisine. Someone mentioned Spanky's being good, so we said one random Saturday- "screw it, let's try 'em out!". I am so glad we did. We started with a plain cheese because you can really judge the quality of a pizza by 2 things- the crust and the sauce. We wanted that pure experience. We were blown away. It was SO good and a shockingly great price. The pies lean NY style..a thinner crust and a sauce that tastes like an Italian mother slaved over all day to get just right. I'm no pizza aficionado, all I can say is..it tastes incredible. Even the cheese was delicious. We have since ordered Spanky's multiple times and it's our go-to. They were closed on some random Sunday a few weeks back so we decided to try Mountain Mike's off Missouri Flat and we were so disappointed. Their pizza doesn't even compare and is literally almost double the price. We had been spoiled by the glorious Spanky's for too long. One thing to mention- the location. Like I said, it's unassuming. You almost feel like you are stepping in a time machine going into that place. It's not a pizza joint where you hold a kids birthday party- save that for Pizza factory off Broadway. It's an old building with old carpet and only a couple tables. There is a bar on site that always seems to be packed with regulars. I personally love the vibe but it may turn some people off because it gives that "dive bar" energy. All I can say is, don't let that steer you away. The people who run it are a delight, their pies are delectable, and their prices seem like highway robbery compared to the other joints in town. Eventually I may even go there to have a drink. It could bIf you are on the fence, please do yourself a favor and call that order in now. We have yet to get a pizza from them that we don't love

We have been wanting to try this place and finally decided to go tonight. We showed up at 6:22 on a Friday and was told that the kitchen was closed. Apparently due to the fact we had children with us.

Pizza is great, the owners are great, prices are very reasonable compared to most pizza restaurants. This type of joint keeps towns alive, so we will always patronize them over a chain restaurant.
