A nice and clean park clubhouse in Southside Park. The surrounding neighborhood is less than safe, due to some people using drugs and/or loitering after hours and doing questionable activities. However, the clubhouse itself, run by the City of Sacramento, is fine and safe, and the Park and Rec Dept runs activities at the clubhouse which are generally quite educational, safe, and wholesome. The clubhouse itself has several rooms inside for groups of kids to play games, read, watch movies, and do other fun group activities in as part of different events or summer camps. They also have some events for teens here, which is nice, as teens need healthy and positive activities to participate in so as not to get into trouble and not become involved with illegal activities and groups. Overall, this is a good place for children, family, and teens alike.

Located at 6th & U Street, Southside Clubhouse has monthly meetings where representatives from WIND Youth Services, representatives from Councilman Steve Hansen and park officials speaking to Neighborhood Association members about the latest developments going on in their neighborhood. A few of the activities at the clubhouse is a Work Readiness Program for teenagers and Target Excellence, an after-school program which tutors at-risk teens. The little library offers free books for children. Last month, Parks and Recreation was giving free hotdogs. It was so delicious that all the residents agreed it was a five-star gourment meal. Five-stars!
