I travel to Truckee via Amtrak a lot and have been here a few times. It's right next to the restroom and they are quick. Usually I have 20-30 minute stopover. I like their soups a lot. 7.99 for the bowl (looks small, but it's super filling) and comes with a warm half baguette. Their sandwiches are also good. They make it as you order. The staff is always really kind.

I ordered a cup of clam chowder which was nice and hot . A chicken salad that had perfect green avocado and a turkey sandwich that was MEGA burnt. Besides the Burnt sandwich the services was good, went during the lunch hour so they must of been busy to burn the bread I was already back at work when I opened it and not able to go back and see about getting a new sandwich

Roast beef sandwich: its a sandwich. But I did want to come back here to talk about the bread, it really is something else, love the chewiness. The bread has a crust which is awesome but hard to avoid getting the crust scraping the top of your mouth. Anyways, tasty bread, I wouldnt have come back here 3 times if it wasnt (also cause a 1 hour layover doesnt allow you to explore much)

When my friend and I first arrived to the train station, we thought the restaurant was closed. There were no other patrons and one person just sitting there. We asked if it was closed and he said no and got up to walk around the counter, apparently he was the clerk and working alone. We asked questions about the menu which he was knowledgeable about and answered our questions. We placed our order and before he could make the sandwiches another person walked in so preparation was put on hold. There was some back and forth between the clerk and the other person because he wanted a cup of water and the clerk was telling him he'd have to pay for a drink. Guy started yelling...there was a weird exchange which made the wait uncomfortable. He finally gives the guy a cup so he can get some water, then a fourth person comes in and places an order, all the while there is no one available to prepare our order. The guy with the water cup is having issues with the drink machine so i go offer some help but the fountain drinks are all off. So now the clerk has to come back around and turn it on. My anxiety was peeking because I was hoping my friend wouldn't miss her train for a sandwich...lol...as we wait idley by, the clerk finally goes and starts to prepare our sandwiches. I will say that while we were waiting we literally said to one another, "we won't be coming back here". We finally got our order and my friend and I split up so she could go catch her train. I ordered the brisket sandwich (which had cole slaw in it) and my friend got pastrami, both on toasted sourdough. And while the wait was longer than we would've liked, upon eating we both agreed the sandwiches were actually really good. The meats were fresh and tender, the sandwich warm and the flavor just overall good. Just because the enjoyable sandwich, I would go there again but I recommend, maybe be prepared and give yourself some extra time to wait.

Getting off a bus with a 25 minute break, I walked into the station to order something so I have food when I get to my lady's pad. So I ask the nice lady at the front - I need to be back to my bus by 2:25 - can this be made quick enough. She said it would be about 3 minutes. I hand her my card to be charged for $25. Right at about 2:23 I noticed they had barely started working on it despite ZERO other customers in there. So I asked the lady for a refund so I don't miss my bus. Another lady walked up to help - both very nice - all to tell me they didn't know how to refund, to leave my name and number and that maybe by tomorrow they can have their manager do it. All in all it was the incompetence of the folks making the food that caused the mess. No clue if I'll see my money back and I'm heading out of town so I can't file fraud and have them shut down my debit card. Lesson learned, don't believe anyone here when they say they can get anything done in any amount of time. And really, to not be able to refund me right there was absurd. Almost missed the bus, $25 poorer and still gotta get food for tonight once I get back to my girlfriends pad the girls up front tried to be helpful, but with a bad team what can you do.

For a chain, it's pretty consistently good. I tried the dirty brisket (which means Mac-n-cheese on top). Very dirty & very good - worth the calories - not sure. + super friendly staff- fizzy coke machine (not worth the 3.50!)Hopefully, they get the coke machine fixed. It's a great way to make your fellow Amtrak riders jealous (unless you're a fan of microwaved pizza).

Missed my train. Needed a Sando to recharge and figure out to pivot travel plans remotely. Let me enjoy a breakfast burrito without egg for cheaper (and past the cutoff of 10:30!!!) AND provided a) efficient service b) exquisite customer service across the team and c) cool haircuts. A+ sourdough and co!! @management seeing this: the two ladies/theydies here at 11am on 12/31 deserve a bonus!!!

As I was waiting for my online order, I noticed the man making the sandwiches went to ring up and customer. He was still wearing the gloves from making sandwiches. I just thought maybe he will change them after. He then proceeded to take cash from the lady and gave her change back. I watched him go right back to making sandwiches without washing his hands/changing his gloves. Absolutely disgusting. I can't imagine what they do when people are not there waiting for their orders. If you get sick from this place.. you know why.

This place is nasty. GirlMaking the sandwiches talking on phone with a spit filled mouth. Making sandwiches while operating her electronics with gloves on not changing the gloves. Where is the health department when you need them. I actually spent 15.00 only to throw my sandwich away. If I could give a lower score I would.

I wouldn't give them a star at all we ordered ham and turkey sandwich and grilled chicken taco salad ordered a cup of coffee and asked for water he said no cups?! But was trying to force us to buy bottled water! We declined! coffee came cold and horrible asked for a lid I was ignored. The salad was ok the sandwich was horrible. I couldn't drink the coffee and threw it away and used the same cup for water. I asked for a lid he ignored me again by now there was a long line so I decided to get the lid myself. Hell broke loose he started yelling and came around the counter in front of the other patrons and came out telling the security guard to call the police on us?! For a lid? I was trying to calm him down, but this little guy wouldn't let go. When he left the security guard ignored his advice and said he's done this to other people as well and they're quite cheap! Nothing to say about ambiance. lol. Beware and go somewhere else than this angry, rude and disgruntled employee! I don't believe he's got any training in customer service, I can guess how the others will be too. Keep your morning safe and pleasant.
