Ever been just completely stared down by someone who looks as if their looking for the right excuse to hurt you? That's what happened on my second ill-advised trip to Sonny's today. I like to give any establishment the benefit of multiple visits, but Sonny's has proven to me to be the shadiest place south of the 50. The man who stared me down was a big, disheveled looking fellow with gold teeth. He was standing by the door like a security guard. Not the best environment when you want to buy a Snapple.

Ever just get so parched on a hot exhaustive day and as you head home for the drive all you want is to quench that thrist with a quick pit~stop just long enough to grab a guzzler of a frosty, super carbonated freshly mixed FOUNTAIN monster sized diet coke & jump back on the road? Well that was me yesterday as I left a two day trek in Mather on business and all I thought about was how delicious that ice cold fountain soda was going to taste. This lil hole in the wall is strategically located right before the I-50 freeway entrances which I 'thought' was fantastic however what a total waste of time, energy and money it proved to be and is really all there is as far as a lil mini mart in this stretch of street so pickins are slim. My bubble was busted as soon as I entered the store and asked the cashier where the fountain soda area was and was informed that there wasn't one. Not one to be easily defeated I refused to leave that damn store without a super cold beverage in hand so I quickly scouted the tiny interior of the store and was even more aggravated at how OVER PRICED their merchandise was. I ended up settling on a 12.5oz tiny bottle of diet Coke which I paid $1.18 for as I refused to part with the over $2.00 price for the 20oz....refused I tell you... AND as a reality check.... Although this biz calls itself a "Market", its not a grocery market and so they should have fountain soda's. What they do have is beer, wine and other alcoholic beverages, prepared bagged snack food and your overall 'crap' in a bag salt or sugar ladened snacks. Nothing in or about this store is a true "Market". I suspect that's yet another irritating part of this equation. The store itself was actually clean and well stocked inside HOWEVER their prices are ridiculous and well..... They don't have fountain drinks which I am still rather irritated about in all honesty. (I am aware as I am typing this out of how ridiculous it sounds to be ranting about something so trivial as a fountain drink but I can't seem to help it) Final Grade: D-The End ;)~

A liqour store right off the freeway in Rancho, ill-lit, and they didn't carry grapefruit juice or pinnaple. So....I had to settle or OJ, lame. And it was not very good OJ at that. Been here probably 3 times, ever, and I work less than a mile away. That'll tell ya something. Go to circle K down the street; way better selection.

Sonny's has a solid selection of inexpensive cigars. Far better than the smoke "head" shop across the street. The customer service is good and it is a quick in and out without them trying to nickle and dime you. No outrageous prices noted. Fast, inexpensive place to grab a quick snack or soda. Yes. I'll be back. Keep up the good work fellas!

The worst customer service. I used to come here all the time until the day i forgot my pack of cigarettes that i just paid for on the counter when i realized i forgot them and came back to get them they said sorry and acted like there was nothing they could do even after i mentioned i was just there and had already paid for them. They have no class and truly dont value their customers.

Pros - Some cheap beers. Service speed is fast depends on whos working. Cons - Most of the time the beer is barely cold. Morning employee ALI needs better training regarding costumer service. His either on the phone, reading a magazine, or sitting in the corner. No one likes having to constantly call someone over to do their job. Sonny wouldn't be to pleased if he saw the way this guy talks to kids and costumers. PS - he rarely remembers the usual cigar i get, have to tell him every time !Other then that, its an average store by the ghetto.

First time i visited this store, it was terrible. No hello, welcome, or goodbye, as far as costumer service went. So i decided to give them another chance, wasn't surprised at the consistent experience. Asides from some of the beer being 10 cents cheaper then other liquor stores, I would highly recommend you skip this so called store. ( has the atmosphere of a pawn shop )They RARELY give receipts unless you ask. ( expect to get mean mugged )Located in the ghetto, with people constantly asking for change. Multiple shootings in the surrounding area. Most of the products in the store don't have price tags ( guessing game ) Place reeks of Marijuana and who knows what else. PS - Terrible parking. Will not be going here again.

I recently got a job near this market. Yesterday after working at the job almost two weeks, I visited this market for the first time to get a few snacks and a cold red bull over lunch break. This place reminds me of the biggest ghetto out there. The place has terrible parking, very cluttered, and the worst set up EVER. They charge for the ATM use 50 cents each transaction, and when I expressed my concern to the cashier, he made a bunch of jokes. I let them know there and then I would NEVER visit this store again, and I encourage all to NOT patronize such a dumpy place..
