This is my second time coming to Sol Cubano--both times were takeout, and both times were delicious. Tucked into a cramped shopping center, the inside is cozy, and while the space is small, the flavors are anything but.The first time I came here, I ordered lechón asado with moros y cristianos and a beef empanada. Worth every penny. You also get a simple side salad, which is a nice touch. The lechón asado was great, even though I'm not a huge pork eater, but the real standout? The empanada. This time, I went for vaca frita, again with moros y cristianos and a beef empanada. I also got greedy and ordered two papa rellenas--they're cheap and can be ordered individually, so why not? It's too tempting when you see all of the beautiful pastries sitting behind the glass of their small but glorious case. The vaca frita was addicting to eat. I enjoyed the texture of the stringy, somewhat dry beef contrasted with the tender onions and that hit of acidity from the lime juice. On paper, it might not sound like much, but the flavors and textures work well together, especially with the beans and rice.Once again, the empanada was fantastic--juicy, well-seasoned beef inside a crispy shell. As for the papa rellenas, I had never tried this dish before and didn't quite know what to expect. Not my personal favorite, but I can see why people love them. Again, the side salad was clutch--it's fresh, lightly dressed (I think with olive oil and lemon juice?), and a great way to cut through all of the rich, fatty red meat.I always look forward to coming here on my lunch breaks. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, and the first time I came in, they helped me decide what to order since I had limited knowledge of Cuban cuisine. Can't wait to come back and order an absurd amount of pastries.

I've been at this restaurant a couple times and the food never disappoints. However, I stopped supporting this business. First of all, they only open like 2 or 3 days by the end of the week and then, you have to call in advance to make sure they're really open. Otherwise, you might get there and find out they're closed. This happened to me at least twice. Secondly and this probably the main reason why we stopped supporting them, the owner is very rude with the customers and I bet anything we are not the only ones who have noticed this. Last time, I called to place an order to go and apparently, I called 10 mins before the restaurant started opening. When he picked up the phone he was complaining about it and after telling me to call back later, he changed his mind and took my order. However, he warned me he was only making an exception. That wasn't right. If you're not ready to start taking orders, just don't pick up the phone. Simple as that. The service and the quality of the food is everything at a restaurant. That's an important area they need to work with.

The ambience was pretty tranquil, and the server was very accommodative. For my beverage, I enjoyed the guava juice. For my appetizers, I had two delicious beef empanadas, which were well-flavored and cooked perfectly. For my main entrée, I had the goat soup with plantains and Cuban rice. The goat soup was off the chain, and the Cuban rice was fantabulous. The plantains had the perfect level of sweetness. I highly recommend this wonderful establishment for anyone looking to enjoy fine Cuban cuisine.

I haven't been here in quite a while, and I had an appointment at the McClellan VA, so I decided to stop in for lunch. I am glad they were open. Right now, They are open for lunch and dinner, Wednesday through Saturday, and then closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. I always enjoy the place, it doesn't look like much from the outside, but it has a nice atmosphere of a tropical restaurant on the inside. I decided to start with the croquetas. Basically, ham croquettes. The order comes with six, which was too much for me, so they were nice enough to do a half order for me. They came with a very good dipping sauce, which had the texture and flavor of "fry sauce". If you don't know what fry sauce is, the basic ingredients are ketchup and mayonnaise,, and then you can go on and add other ingredients from there. The croquetas tasted good, but for me, they were a bit too gummy in the middle. I don't know if that's supposed to be the texture or they weren't cooked enough, but they were not a success for me. Next time I would probably just order the plantains, which I know are good. The traditional Cubano, or Cuban sandwich, however, was a home run. Pork, ham, cheese, pickles, and mustard, on a pressed Cuban bun. Wonderfully crispy, and the flavors just melded so well together. I love a good Cubano, and this one is very good. The price of the meal with soda and tip was very reasonable. I left full and Happy . I will continue to come back. Thank you.

We were out on a business appointment and heading back home and decided to see what was different in the area and came across this place. The lady and gentleman here were so welcoming and friendly and everything looked and smelled so good. We decided to try a sample platter along with a few other things and just share. I love plantains so thethis was a real treat for me. The meats were so juicy and flavorful in all the items. If you want a change to your routine this place is a good place to start. We both left full and happy and will be back again! They have some cool decor and it's so happy and bright in here too.

A hole in a wall but an experience not to be missed. We ate the food so quickly because the smell made us famished and I forgot to take pictures lol. We had empanadas and fried yucca roots to start. The yucca frita came with the most delicious Onion sauce. We destroyed it in minutes. For entrees we had the oxtails and the fried tilapia fish with Cuban rice, sweet plantains and Avocado salad. Delicious . The service was incredible from the beginning to the end. I will definitely go back

Small restaurant serves up big flavorsThis small establishment sandwiched between a Thai restaurant and a tattoo parlor, makes some wonderful homestyle dishes. The food is flavorful but not spicy hot. They do a mean take-out business but have about 6 small tables if you are lucky enough to get one. The servings are generous and the price is right. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Did I mention the flan? We'll be back!

The beef empanadas are so good, such great flavor so juicy and crispy! The sauce that comes with it too makes it even better. It's always served fresh and I love the idea of supporting our small business.

This is a hidden gem! Their food is delicious and authentic. Customer service is always on point. My favorite dish to order is Ropa Vieja with a side of fried plantains. It may be a small restaurant but it feels like you're eating at home, blasting Cuban/Latino music is the cherry on top!
