PORTIONS: filling and heartyPRICE: appropriateSERVICE: table side, fastAMBIANCE: clean and warm - we came in the summer and temp is close to outside so dress accordingly FLAVORS:Karaage (5/5) - batter isn't the normal potato starch and the seasoning has more heat than I anticipated but still really good! A hit on all the taste budsChashu ramen with extra egg and extra chashu (10/5) - the noodles were amazing and the broth was so good; the egg was perfectly jammy and the chashu had so much depth BONUS TIP:

Occupying the former Café Morocco space, Shoku Ramen brings a fresh face to Sacramento's ever-expanding ramen scene. Another ramen shop? Sure, but when it's good--and Shoku shows serious potential--there's always room for one more. The menu is refreshingly simple and to the point. I opted for the Tonkatsu ramen, which features a beautifully breaded and sliced pork cutlet served over a rich shoyu broth. The presentation was stunning, and the flavors held their own against local legends like (insert favorite Sac ramen shop here). Plus, for this side of town, where ramen options are scarce, Shoku is a dependable go-to for satisfying that umami noodle craving. For faster service, avoid the lunch rush, as it can get busy.

I visited SOKU during lunchtime, and overall, it was a great experience. The parking lot is small but had enough spaces available when we arrived. We were greeted immediately and seated at a clean table, which was a nice start. Service is table-side, and although there was only one server working (likely due to the holiday), they were attentive, although a bit slower. For our meal, we ordered the R2 Spicy Black Garlic Chashu Ramen. The broth--a flavorful mix of chicken, vegetable, and pork--was so good! I was especially impressed with the Japanese pork belly; it was decadent, generously portioned, and had that perfect char flavor. The Ajitama (soft-boiled egg) had a beautifully runny yolk that paired perfectly with the ramen. Adding to the depth of flavor, the broth included fresh garlic pieces and slices of chile serrano, giving it a bold, fresh kick. The noodles were thin noodles and cooked just right.I'd highly recommend this ramen and can't wait to come back for more! We skipped the appetizers and sides since we weren't too hungry, but I'll definitely return to try more menu items--the sandos looked especially tempting. The interior of SOKU is small yet cozy, making it a comfortable spot to enjoy a meal.

Met up with a friend to grab lunch and catch up. We usually decide to try new places and we're in the mood for noodles. This seemed like a great location and we were hungry. The staff was very nice. Although they weren't busy, they saved a table for until my friend arrived. Food was great as we got a few different items. Starting off with the most bland, the tempura shrimp. It was an appetizer and came with only one sauce and just a little too bread. Would be better as an add on to the ramen than stand alone. The pork gyozas were great! Nice and crispy with a juicy filling. Same for the pork soup dumplings which were amazing! Wish there was a larger order as I couldn't get enough! Lastly, the ramen was great! I got the Spicy Garlic Chashu. Nice and spicy. Broth was very savory along with the pork being very decadent. However, the only off addition seemed to be the what looked like pickled jalapeños. Being Latino, I enjoy my jalapeños of all kinds but felt this should be on the side and fresh. Overall, great and would come back. Only odd aspect to me was the television. Created a weird ambiance as they played videos of incredible noodle masterpieces. While I think it's hard to find the authentic cuisine like that here in the states, it did make our food seem to fall short in comparison to what was on the monitor. Either way, we enjoyed our lunch. Skipped dessert because it was rather minimalistic but hope they expand.

Wow. Just wow. We ordered out Spicy Chashu Ramen, Pork Dumplings and a Tonkatsu Sando. Everything was "best of" in terms of flavor and value. The ramen unlike many broths was rich and hearty. The pork just disappears, it's so melty and delicious. I was impressed with the dumplings too which was a surprise and the dough was substantial and didn't make me feel gross like others can. The quality is evident and appreciated Soku. Now, this sando I will especially seek out in the future. Imagine a fusion of flavors and textures, fat, sweet and umami. It checks every box and has homemade milk bread to boot! I'm gonna dream about that barbecue-like sauce on it.

Didn't expect anything from this small, simple noodle cafe behind Sushi Cafe. I ordered the Chashu Black Garlic Ramen- wow! The thick, rich, full flavored broth that clings to the fresh ramen was exactly what I was seeking. It was like I was back in Japan. The chashu was prepared accordingly. Floating atop hot, steaming broth topped with fresh cabbage. Oh so tasty. This is one of the better Ramen places in town. Family owned. The Tonkatsu Sandwich (tempura fried pork cutlet w/shredded marinated cabbage) between slices of fluffy Japanese Bread is unique to Soku. (Eat it hot n fresh out of kitchen! Follow up with ramen soup on a cold day....) P.S. Keep this place our secret. (If I have to wait next time, my bad.)

The Black BBQ pork ramen was delish! The noodles were chewy and filling! I only wish that they had an unagi rice bowl on the menu.

Less crowded during the lunch hours, which means I received my meal much quicker. I enjoyed the garlic edamame, which was mildly spiced with lots of garlic. The Thai iced tea was a little too watery for my liking. I absolutely loved the tonkatsu sando and the tonkatsu ramen. Both dishes were really flavorful. I loved the crispness of the tonkatsu. The cha shui was flavorful and tender. I really enjoyed the broth as well. I will dine in again when I am in the area.

Really good. This is my second time going with my husband and they have a lot of vegetarian options as well as good meat options. My husband got the sandwich to go as well and said it was very good later on.
