Shagun Indian Cuisine

This is my go to Indian restaurant if I'm craving Indian food, buffet style. Food is amazing, I usually don't eat goat but the way they make it, I love it. The staff is super nice. Give them a try.

A gluten free haven! I got the butter chicken, navratan korma, gluten free vegetable pakora and gluten free naan. I really appreciate the diverse offerings and the entrees were absolutely delicious. So glad to have found my new go to Indian restaurant!

We stopped in for lunch after dropping off our dog at the groomer. We were looking for a good spot to sit down and enjoy a meal together and my husband and I are both big fans of Indian food.We looked up top spots on Yelp and found Shagun. When we walked in we were able to sit anywhere we wanted and the buffet was open to serve yourself.They had a good variety of vegetarian and meat dishes and my husband ended up ordering an Indian beer to go with the meal. I loved that we had the chance to try a variety of dishes and the naan they served with the meal was delicious as well.Before we left they showed us the banquet room and it is BEAUTIFUL! Who would have known there was a giant event space here.We both really enjoyed out meal and we would definitely visit again to try their dinner.

Food was AMAZING! Best Indian cuisine me and my family have ever been to. Service was amazing. They are so friendly and family owned. There's a gorgeous venue in the back, you wouldn't even know it's there! It's available to rent. Definitely will be regulars!

I've tried both their lunch buffet and dinner. I found service has been standard and not particularly warm/welcoming. They have had music playing during their buffet hours, but when I came for dinner the restaurant was noticeably silent.*Note on their hours: They currently say they're open daily on their page, but I tried going on a Monday and they were closed.*BUFFET: Good selection of food options. They bring you naan, but it took a while to come out. While the options were good, the food all was disappointingly room temperature to lukewarm. While they say the buffet includes drinks, I was not offered anything to drink other than water. I was a bit saddened by their dessert selection; all they had was kheer. There's a couple Indian buffets in the Sacramento area I've been to previously that have much better options. DINNER: We tried a variety of items: Chole Bhature, Chicken Tikka Masala, Aloo Baingan, Lamb Korma, Basmati Rice, Garlic Naan, and Basil Pesto Naan. For drinks, we had a Mango Lassi and Strawberry Lassi. Everything was good. I've never seen pesto naan before, and I really enjoyed it (even though it was really flavorful in it of itself, so it felt kind of unnecessary to eat it with the dishes. The garlic naan was better suited for this). I expected the lassi to be bit of a thicker consistency, but it was still good. I enjoyed the mango over the strawberry. Chicken Tikka Masala tends to be my favorite dish anywhere, and this was also the case here. Although, I did also like the flavor of the Lamb Korma sauce. I am overall happy with the food and dining experience I've had at Shagun.

Delicious authentic Indian cuisine We dined here tonight using a Groupon deal and enjoyed our first time dinner experience. Nice and classy interior with table seating and booths, we enjoyed both the food and the service. Although similar in taste I always get the Butter Chicken and hubby the Chicken Tikka Masala. In their menu the butter chicken was called the Chicken Maharaja. I don't usually do spicy and I forgot to tell our server not spicy but the mild spiciness was tolerable after awhile. I just had to blend a lot of Basmati rice with it and drink my soda after LoL! Surprisingly, I finished all! Everything was tasty and delicious! Our new favorite Indian cuisine restaurant.This is a family-owned restaurant and I believe Avtar is one of the three owners. Very friendly as we engaged in a short conversation about the restaurant. They also owned a restaurant in San Rafael (Bay Area) and just recently sold it in November.They have a lunch buffet from 11:00a to 2:30p for $14.95 and includes drinks... we can't wait to try. This Indian buffet also offers catering and has a 400-person banquet hall on the adjacent connecting building where guests can chow down on lamb samosas and kashmiri naan.I used my $40 Groupon with no issues. What can I NOT say about this place....except for that it was superbly one of the best Indian places in Sacramento I have ever gone to. Let's start off with the fact that they have a buffet for only $14.95!!! Who can beat that?!? It comes with 8 vegetarian items, 4 non veg which were: fish pakora, butter chicken, tandoori chicken and goat curry. I'm addition, there's a salad bar with one of my favorite Indian sauces....the CHUTNEYS which I just love!! I've been trying to find a place that sells it with an order of Samosa and haven't found any yet. But traditionally samosas are served with the tamarind and mint chutney sauces and this place had not only those but also 2 additional sauces like the mango and tamarind chutney. Other great things about this place:Quality of food was hot, filling and flavorful. The salad bar was great packed with greens, onions, cucumbers, and the dessert such as strawberries, watermelon and kheer pudding. They also serve chai masala tea and wait for it............... fresh, the FRESHEST of fresh NAAN bread! If u don't believe me on how fresh it is, just check out the pics! We ordered plain and the garlic.... Oh-my-goodness it was so good. The restaurant itself was open and bright. It also felt clean and comfortable. If you're lucky u can get a table by the window and watch the passerby's. Over all, we had an enjoyable time here and we will definitely be back!! Lastly, the staff especially the guy and girl at the front were very helpful and friendly. It's a family business and u can tell that they pride themselves in providing good service to all customers. So thanks to this family for the food they serve and the quality of service!

So happy to have a new Indian restaurant (and banquet hall) in the area. The restaurant is clean, nicely appointed, well laid out, and conveniently located. We visited for their lunch buffet and enjoyed a variety of tasty foods. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The butter chicken was scrumptious, the garlic naan was delicious, and all the other items were great, too. It would just take way too long to name each item. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant. I also had the opportunity to see their banquet hall after striking up a conversation with the manager. The venue is beautiful and can probably easily handle groups of 200 or more. Whether your looking for a tasty lunch, a nice dinner, or a venue for your next event, this just might be your place!

this place is so wonderful ,I'm coming back for more the food is amazing the service is fantastic and the ambiance is so beautiful.

New owners. 18.00 for weekday lunch buffet. I haven't been there since new owners have reopened. Will try and update my review.
